The three editors of 'Dhoombak Goobgoowana, A History of Indigenous Australia and the University of Melbourne', Professor Marcia Langton AO, Dr Ross L Jones, and Dr James Waghorne spoke at the 2024 Queen's College Indigenous Oration about the first of their two volumes, titled ‘Truth’.
The book is divided into four parts- place, human remains, settler/colonial knowledge, and Indigenous knowledge. It is a truth telling book of extraordinary power that the editors hope will inspire universities around the world to document the history of their institution’s relationship with their First Nations people, while enabling descendants of the victims and the perpetrators of harm at The University of Melbourne to take some heart from the truth finally being told.
