Jared Ball, Sir. You are the man and these people need to hear these things!!!

He was reeeeeeaching to praise a movie he hadn't seen while sidestepping valid criticism but his point about how we need louder and more visible revolutionary academics in the movement is spot on. Also the part about how we need an underground.

Jared's criticisms are on point-Not only does the film in a distorted way portray the snitch as continuing Nat Turner's struggle within the Union Army--It also has a sequence where Turner's ancestral spirit (wearing face paint indicative of African cosmology) is in a way guiding/shepherding/watching over the boy as he grows into manhood becoming a Union soldier. That film was very problematic and I appreciate Jared, Dr Alexander and others for helping to unpack it...With all due respect** Dhoruba's comments were way off base-and I love that brother-especially what he said about our family that was murdered in Charleston. That point that Dhoruba makes about Dylan Roof having engaged his victims in a long dialogue prior to his act is wrong. It's true that he conversed and interacted with those in the Bible study but he never revealed what he was actually going to do in advance of doing it.
