bohne691 Actually that's not true. It's almost impossible to tell if a band is using a drop tuning just by listening to them. The only way to have a chance to figure out if a band is using a drop tuning is by watching them play their instrument and seeing if they barre the bottom 2 strings often, and even then that may not be an accurate way to tell. Also, drop tuning doesn't have an inherently exotic sound or Egyptian sound. Plenty of bands use drop tunings and they don't have a particularly middle eastern sound, such as The Faceless, Psycroptic, Martyr on their last album, DAATH, new In Flames, Conquering Dystopia, Gojira (I think), Entrails Eradicated and others that escape my thoughts at the moment.
