Dia de Muertos, Dia de los Muertos, Day of the Dead! If you’re here to experience Dia de Muertos in Mexico or learn the day of the dead history you have found the right Mexico Vlog.
Dia de Muertos, Day of the Dead is a pre-hispanic sacred tradition dating back thousands of years. Dia de los Muertos is a beautiful celebration of life and we can’t wait to learn all about it with you!
We spent Dia de los Muertos Oaxaca Mexico and it was the perfect first Dia de Muertos celebration we could have asked for. Dia de Muertos in Mexico is Mexico’s most sacred holiday so in this day of the dead video we are taking you around the city in search of the most authentic Dia de Muertos we can find.
In this video we go to Ocotlan and learn how to make an ofrenda for the Day of the Dead and spend time getting to know the traditions of Dis de Muertos. We then tour the streets for the Day of the Dead Oaxaca 2021 where we admire all the decorations and join in on a Comprasa! The night of Nov 1st we take a trip to Etla and finish off with a wild celebration welcoming the spirits home!

I would like to say something about the origin of the icon of the Mexican Day of the Dead: "La Catrina" by the famous Mexican printmaker, cartoon illustrator and lithographer José Guadalupe Posada. The image of a female skeleton is dressed in European outfit from his upper class time. She is offered as a satirical portrait of those Mexican natives who, Posada felt, were aspiring to adopt European aristocratic traditions in the Mexican pre-revolutionary era. So "La Catrina" has become an icon of this Mexican Day of the Dead. I invite you to know more about this author. Thank you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/qomufYtphrZqr80

Thank you so much for sharing this incredible tradition… our loved ones would not want us to be sad … they would want us to celebrate and honour them. The day of the dead it´s a celebration that exist before cahtolics came to America, in this ceremony our dead people don´t come from heaven, hell, or purgatory, they come from the tlaloc, the omeyocan, the chichihuanauco, of the mictlan. This celebration is way older than halloween´s first celebration in America.

Great ambiance! I can feel the glory and excitement. I would love to be a part of this! How does a "little old lady" make trips like this alone? No one is game for this kind of travel. I adore it! That's why I visit my younger niece in Merida each year. She likes to party but she has to be "normal" also--she's a teacher and has two young sons so she can't get away except on holidays when Abuelita takes care of her grandsons. Precious family! Learning the local culture from the locals is amazing. Oaxaca looks like a blast during this time. I appreciate y'all bringing up the problems of femicide. I had never clocked that topic before. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. The streets are beautiful. The parade looked awesome. The food across the whole video looked so delicious. I really enjoy all of your videos, but this one is extra special. I have not had the pleasure of celebrating Dia de Muertos in Mexico, but believe it or not, I had a similar touching and spiritual experience during Dia de Muertos at Disneyland.

I'm not Mexican, I'm Venezuelan, lived in NYC, for many years, back in the nineties and first decade of this century, met a lot of Mexican people. I've traveled a lot through Mexico, which made me love so much more, its people, culture, traditions and gastronomy. I've never had the privilege to experience this tradition., wich a regret. I've seen a lot of your videos guys, I like you both a lot, very enthusiastic and fun. It's delightful to watch you both in your videos. Looking at you Heidy, getting so emotional with the festivities was very heartfelt, wich made me so emotional and got me to shed a tear or two as well. Love you guys Keep it going

Aww we truly appreciate you taking the time to share this with us. We hope you can get the chance to experience it. We heard that Pátzcuaro, the island of Janitzio specifically is the place to witness it. It is such a beautiful tradition. I can’t help but get so emotional over femicide. It breaks my heart and makes me so angry at the same time. I really hope things change because not one more woman should be killed solely because of her gender.

@@TheCountryCollectors I'm sure i will. I know that first time in the video was about femicide, I feel the same way about it, it's not fair But the second time it was out of pure excitement, when you went with the band and crowd into a house, and they were throwing candies to the children. That was the time you showed me how sensitive and respectful you are of the Mexican culture, that although it is not my culture, I respect it very much. I love that you make the effort to pronounce many words in Spanish in the best possible way, it shows me that you also have a lot of respect for our language.

@@robertocastillo7382 Oh yes, that was such a special moment for sure. We always try to find out the right way to pronounce the words as we think it is very important and you're right, it shows respect!
