Diabetic and Charcot Foot | Neuropathy | Monofilament Test | ABPI | Ulcer Management | NICE Guidance
The FRCS mentor group is hosting a teaching session on Diabetic and Charcot foot with Abdullah Hanoun as the presenter.
The presentation is relevant to clinical sections and could come in the exam, with a lot of interconnectivity between Diabetic and Charcot foot.
Diabetic foot is becoming increasingly prevalent and can result in ulcers and amputations. Neuropathy and vascular components are the main causes.
The assessment of a diabetic patient with a foot ulcer should be done with an MDT approach, assessing diabetic control, ulcer infection, vascularity, and neurology.
The assessment should also include ulcer classification to determine the severity and the possibility of referral to a plastic surgeon.
This teaching video is specifically helpful for candidates preparing for the following Orthopaedic Exams : FRCS , European Board (FEBOT) , SICOT Diploma and Arabic Boards
