What Diablo 3 lacked was setting fear into the player.

In diablo 3 all the prime evils chat with you constantly. They annoy you and you charge at them to get it over with. Thats it. Diablo 1 is a lot darker, with better sounds and more atmosphere. And Diablo simply runs at you to kill, and your first reaction is to run away.

+merathy just finished on normal and I just melted through everything like butter with my Monk. They made Diablo 3 "casual friendly" where you pretty much never need to heal yourself. A big part of the fear in the other two for me was having to return to a hellhole to retrieve your shit ;)

+merathy Wow, you're exactly right. I never, not once, felt even a tad bit uneasy in Diablo 3. I think a large part of it has to do with the fact it's so social you never truly feel a sense of isolation. Also the game itself is so incredibly easy, I never went into a fight with the notion I might lose.

Playing D2 and not being able to see anything except darkness after a few yards around your character was the most terrifying thing. You never really knew when you were walking head first into a huge group of champion mobs, or worse, a huge mob of fetishes in act 3. It was also the best part of the whole games feel.

The point was not that he was moving fast but that suddenly he had grown much stronger and was no longer barely able to walk. Second part is a work of art. First part can be upgraded. When I was a kid I was always waited for a fightings and more armored heroes stuff (everything is missing). For Diablo 2 was created a lot of 3D models and basically all the game is in 3D, but somehow the story line tells about Diablo, not about heroes, some mystery

I tired to get as much quality out of the games bink files as I could... but it was like trying to get blood out of a rock. This is as good as it gets. The cinematics just looked like this... THEY ARE OLD!!! =D We all remember them looking a bit more polished but they weren't. They were still amazing at the time they came out... only Square and the Final Fanatasy games were better than Blizz at cinematics... safe to say Blizz is a top dog in this department currently. New stuff looks great!

That would be great idea, but look what happened to Marius when he carried Baal's soulstone. It ravaged his mind and sucked the life from him, making him age faster. Then he gave the stone to what he thought was Tyrael, which it was Baal impersonating him. It then cost him his life and soul anyway.

From my knowledge, it requires a powerful soul to contain it. and only a nephalim [a human with both angelic and demonic traits, lost through dilution of human genes over the generations so is quiet rare by the time of the diablo trilogy.] has that power within them. But later, in D3 [and the trailer for reaper of souls] it is shown that tyreal puts it in a hidden chamber of some sort. So I think the methods for containing it have been rather trial and error, even for the angels.
