Fantastic example of a good game standing on the shoulders of great ideas without the focus group research bullshit, no marketing stunts, no ripping off the players to create more revenue - the game created revenue by being well done! This is how you define sustainability. Even after 17 years people still play it, should tell you everything.

Can't edit this message apparently... just wanted to add I've also been playing Diablo 1 for an insane amount of time for the last years. There's a mod called the Hell 2 which adds a crazy amount of new content; new classes, spells, perks and synergies, item types (even slots for gloves, boots and belt), enemies, et cetera, without it feeling out of place or clunky. A true testament of dedication by the creator; and a constant work of progress. if I understand correctly he's working on a new version (The hell 3) as we speak... I can't wait to see what will be added still. Highly recommend it to anyone who played the old game. Probably not for the casual player though as it can be a bit daunting - once you know all the ins and outs there are many advantages for the player that will counter the much higher difficulty compared to the base game, but it does require an investment on the players side. It's definitely worth it once it 'clicks'

I share the same memories that most people did from playing this game. I woke up at 7:00 am and played till 8:00 pm when I was a kid back then carefree on a saturday free to level up haha. (The legit way no baal runs back then and only half of the population had the Expansion) but the game still exists for people who wanna play again. Its so distinct from the usual Diablo sound, but its perfect in terms of extending the game to a new land and a heroic theme to signify the near end of Destruction. It's so perfect as a love letter to Basil Poledouris' style in Conan the Barbarian's score 1:13 sounds the most like from that movie. 4:22 is such a heroic sound god damn. Also wow I say its distinct from the Diablo sound but heres the main Diablo motif 3:52

I still play this game and i love not only playing, but the music that goes with it. Hearing the music without anything else, it really makes you get into it. I dont care what anyone says, the Diablo game franchise was/still is the greatest and best game that blizzard has ever put out. I mean, i have played WoW, but it can't compare to Diablo.
