Here's a hint, my build runs this set currently, and I found that using blood skills and passives will save you big time In this. I use devour the Aura rune, frailty the Aura rune Blood spear, and siphon with the first rune. with lotd the rune that negates essence cost. The passives I run are blood for blood, the one that every time I compute a corpse it spawns a health globe. It works beautifully with this set. With lotd using devour at will I also launch a corpse Lance with every corpse consumed, so you can see how destructive it is.

Pestilence set is still the one set I'm not very happy with. Never mind that the name suggests poison and curses as the skills of focus, like the poison nova from D2 they never got, what I really don't like is that corpse explosion is so useless in a set that revolves around the usage of corpses to deal damage. This corpse lance build reminds me of the wizard channelling build that can be effective with either Tal Rasha or Firebird's. I was really hoping for a Necromancer build/set when the class itself was still in beta that would combine poison nova, bone spear, corpse explosion and maybe bone prison to compete at the upper levels of GRIFT pushing. The Pestilence set looked like it was the set to give you just that using the poison variant of the death nova, but since beta it has become this really strange kluge set that even now at the top of the ladder it seems strange and like a knockoff of another rather than it's own unique and also traditional D2 build that the Necromancer really deserves.

RicoLen1 I agree with pretty much everything you said, it is just a shame they had to rename / remake abilities just cause the witch doctor was a thing. Not like many people actually use the poison part of it anyways.

people complaining too much really the build he is showing is just for pushing alone but as the previous guide shows it can also be used as the "Fastest 80-90 GR Speed Build" in the game using Spear instead. so pushing with lance, casual with spear. at the same time sort of like your comment i do wish instead that the set just globally buffed all poison skills. as the trag does to its blood skills. that would make people focus on actually using the Scythe with poison skill bonus damage further and at same time would make for a possible uniquely neat build Command Skeleton (poison) rune build on top of the other many.

There's a couple of different ways they could go with this set, one, the most obvious given its name would be to buff poison skills and curses. That's what a "pestilence" set SHOULD do. However I really wish there was a set that allowed you to play the necromancer the way it used to be played in Diablo 2 at the very highest level of end game and that just hasn't been given us. Corpse explosion was just the best, as was bone spear, and those abilities SEEM like they should synergize quite nicely given the stat bonuses of the pestilence set, but in practice it just doesn't turn out that way, and it's just a shame.

Jon King bone storm set with 2 piece pestilence set and few other throw ons like bone nova from bone spike and the item to increase the essance regained, from bone spike! Ive been having a blast with this set including mage archers for speed and i dont run blood lance but let the consumption of the corps activate the lance and corps skill to give speed for ea corps consumed to spped up runs .. writing it all out is to much but there are more paths to mix with this set ! Can be glass canon if your not spaming spikes and mages

Hey Rhykker, how come you aren't using corpse lance in your build? Based on reading the set bonuses it seems like the greatest damage dealer (besides corpse lance of course) is bone spear b/c it gets a 3,000% dmg buff after you consume a corpse? I agree that the way you have built this out, you might as well use Trag'Oul's because it's identical and seems to use only half of what the set bonus gives you. Just my two cents, I seem to prefer Rathma's set myself.

I wish we had a melee/curse build to play around, using corpse explosion or something... Bone armor, schyte and corpse explosion, being in the middle of the fight doing damage myself instead of jumping around waiting for cooldown on lances or hiding behind mages while they do their work.

I have all the sets (not optimal ofc) but I favor Inarius set as the most interesting: + have to go up close, risky and active playstyle + use Bone skills which sticks nicely with the lore

Hey Rhykker "sorry for bad english" I'm a big fan of D3 and i was big fan of D2... i bought necromancer instaly when released with the hope for the classic D2 feeling/experience as necro with similar spells, like (bone armor/spear/curses/corpse exp....) tryed every possible meta build but...all made dissapoint me and as I see this Build variant still don't see any fun in necro (the Inarius was the best but its not really unique necromancer feeling) So my request is can you show any off meta Build Guide with different playstyle ? I think most of people would like something new and more possible variant for Trang/Rathma/Pestilence. Don't need to be at S or A,B Tiers just wanna see/try more possible variant maybe i get something that really fun to play with! :) Thanks for makeing these awesome Guide/Update/Vlog videos, you always make perfect concent! :)

Hey Ur wrong with "2-3 build max" I don't even know all the possible variant because too much from them on other classes and maybe I'm sure ill miss something: 1_Wizard: DMO:energy twister. 2_DMO:Melee(spectralblade/arcane orbit/eplosiveblast, 3_Talrasha:Meteor, 4_Talrasha:LigthingArchon(and plus a Hydra variant for that build) 5_Vyr's:Archon, 6_Firebird:Archon, 7_Firebird:meteorshower and iv seen alredy +3 variant in 2.6.1.. thats 10 possible build (Its important thats my opinion) alredy for wizz.. i will not list the all other classes :/ but i'm sure more than 2-3 builds (just think about LoN) So the necro must be... has to be... more build! I've seen your necro builds for each of 4 unique necro sets but 3 of them use corpse lance. Now I get that it's just very powerful skill to exclude but that just means there are only 2 variants of playstyle for the class.

Blade vortex, bladefall and ethernal knives are all completely different mechanics. Magma orb, molten stirke, flicker stirke are all completely different mechanics. Blade furry, reave and smite are all completely different mechanics. All of these can be played eithe rpoison stacking, elemental stacking, physical stacking, blades with totems, played with traps, played with poet pen builds. they also can all be played by any class, can all clear maps and entire game content and use any unique in the game your heart desires. new builds come out different week. this is only a small sample size, i can name at least 20 more skills, and dont get me started with support gems. i didnt even get into the different minion builds you can do. that would be a whole nother damn paragraph long. do you even play PoE?

This is a really hard build to use. When you’re not using you broken ultimate (which is most of the time) everything 1 hits you... 2 minutes in gr 60 died five times...

Thanks for the build. I got a quick question: How did you manage to survive when your skills were on cooldown? Seems like the trashes weren't doing quite as much damage to you as to me. Granted, I'm using brittle lancer which is pretty much the only difference as compared to your build. My gear set is fairly decent for pushing 100 (I can easily kill a 2-player RG at GR100) , but I just couldn't manage to survive when solo playing. What do I need to work on? Thanks again!

Hmm wait, in the Land of the Dead/Simulacrum boost period, do you spam with Devour or Corpse Lance? Guides seem to say spam/hold down Devour, but using Corpse Lance instead gives you the double lance damage mentioned in the video. Thanks!

The Crusader Invoker thorn build got buffed can you do a video about it? its really strong now it can deal 900B and higher also its really good in a party with a inna z dps build to boost the toughness to 1.3B+ really good tank to do gr 80+ in group :)

Question, sorry if I missed it, but do you just spam devour for proc, corpselance, or do you try to mix in corpse Lance while spamming devour. On problem is the proc only attacks randomly so it seems using the ability itself is necessary, but then is that not a buffed corpse Lance? Also, I actually really enjoy the scout then spank playstyle, trying some other elite hunter builds this season, but if I don't love it I might head back to necro again.

I really like how necro is done except for one thing: ******* LAND OF THE DEAD, which is in every build, again cdr, burst damage, all that clunky boredom... It seems in the end all classes will be Archon-style gameplay. I really wish I could play some diverse necro builds, they look good, but are balanced around popping land of the dead/simulacrum crap(((((

One thing I hate about the Necromancer is the lack of really useful skills and therefor different variations to the class. There is the Corpse lance and... well that is all. All other skills are useless to provide huge damage the way I see it. This pestilence set would have been a great opportunity to make a build centered on another skill.

I run a variation of this that uses bone lance(since the 4 and 6 piece bonuses apply to that skill too) with the teeth rune(basically giving you a bone shotgun) and a Briggs Wrath instead of the elements ring. So when I find a group of enemies I curse them, they all get pulled together and quickly become a pile of guts after a bone lance blast. That's something I've never understood about these high end builds they are designed to ignore every enemy except elites, and that is just boring imo. When I'm playing this(or any rpg for that matter) I enjoy that feeling of power when you mow down dozens/hundreds of enemies in a very short amount of time. Can my pestilence build push insanely high GRs? Idk, my character isn't that strong yet(only around 300 paragon level) but it's fun to play. Which, last I checked, is the point of video games.

They buffed ,Bloodtide Blade mix that with the Scythe that benefits secondary skills when using Bone Armour (poison rune) (I forgot the names of the item sorry) and Inaruis Set, I use Frailty (Volatile or Aura), with Brigg's Wrath. Devour (Aura). Deathnova (poison Rune) It's a speed build at the moment and still needs work, but hopefully it can evolve out of being just a speed build. It's major flaw is it is extremely reliant on large packs, on single target is where I hit a wall. but it works amazing in groups. with the Blood rush boots for speed. I can quickly group up packs with Brigg's Wrath and nuke them, and no Land of the Dead or Sim needed.

Land of the Dead allows you to spam for free, so no corpses needed.

Hey Rhykker do you think you could do a video or something to explain greater rift pushing and what to expect? I've been struggling to get over GR68. I feel like there is a key element i'm missing. My gems are high in my opinion 60+ and followed a guide for Demon Hunter Season 11 (I basically run with multishot but when I really want to dish out the damage I usually go for some shadow impale) Anyways maybe a video on what to expect in GR pushing and how to do it, what to aim for, stuff like that

Paragon 650 with approx 5 or 6 pieces that is ancient and my gear doesn't all have perfect stats but in general not rolled super low

You can add me on battle net if u want and i can look more into the gear see if that's a factor, Shadowh8ter#1821 What I'd suggest is running some legendary gems to like 50 or so and then throwing them onto your ancients, that should give you enough of a boost to push a couple higher grift levels. Paragon is also a sizeable factor in how high you can go in grifts, once you pass 800 you should start slowly seeing a change in your power level.

Also keep in mind multishot is not a good build for high GR running current season, I went through the top 1,000 DH solo ranks for this season and there's what looked to be 0 unhallowed essence DH builds on there, and the lowest rank is 90, so chances are you'll need to stick with shadow impale.

I don't think that Draw Life is a must-have option... just took Spreading Malediction and downed 113-114 with 1-2 occasional deaths. Only a bit more fishy but not so much.

Buffs still absolutely needed for al lother skills. Furthermore need some other affix' on different legendary's that buff "OTHER" skills than CL, PREFERABLY not weapons. I mean come on Blizz clearly made 2 weapons far too op and if you don't have them... welp it's nearly a useless necro now isn't it. Personally I hate how I'm pretty much forced to use those 2 weapons to do any high level content.

I often see that a certain build can handle a certain GR, but I rarely if ever see what the recommended paragon points (and maybe primal/ancient gear) is for that GR. I presume you need at least 1500 paragon for GR111? How far can I expect to go with 1000 paragon or 500 (with this build)? ATM I don't have optimal gear for this build so I'm playing the bonespear+poison variant (using Maltorius spike+Nayr's black death) and with paragon 130+ I'm pushing in the GR40+. If I can make a request of the experts, can you guys make up a table of builds with the recommended paragon for GR ranges? AFAIK no one has done that yet and if there is can someone direct me to it please? :D

does D3 still suck when it comes to multi player? I was a D2LOD player cuz of the MMORPG feel. I tested D3 beta and was so disapointed by the lack of mulitplayer function. I was hoping it would take MMO even further, but if i remember correctly it was only 4 players could join one game and they were randomized and you couldn't really socialize with strangers and join games.

Why even use an item that does nothing for you just to run ANOTHER corpse lance build.....? Why not incorporate Grim Scythe into the build and use Bone Spear like it appears was intended?

Yeah, at this point in Diablo's life, and after playing PoE I can say that there should be no reason to have so many CDR-focused builds in an ARPG. It's an ACTION RPG, not a sit-around-and-wait RPG.

CDR builds are really fun in Grim Dawn, when your longest cooldown is 25 seconds and you can easily reduce it to 16, and all your damage skills are huge DoTs that last almost as long as your cooldowns. But in Diablo? Waiting 2 whole minutes for a cooldown to expire? That sucks.

You guys do realize that CDR means cooldown REDUCTION, right? If you have to wait 2 minutes, you're doing it wrong.

Deregorn That's pretty obvious. The complaint here is being forced to build an entire gear set around CDR because the devs decided putting long CD abilities into an ACTION RPG. Non-CDR builds are much less boring and more stat forgiving to play.

some people like CDR builds. they are really strong and if you get 60% cdr you start shining. i'm working on a speed run build with this set that's using an ingeom and gogok of swiftness and i can almost perma land of the dead and just spam cannibalize as i run threw throwing spikes at everything. ingeom also allows for blood rushes to actually rush threw the map. and make more corpses really fast.

I’m on xbone. It seems like devour satiated and corpse lance are on the same section where I can’t choose both. Is there any way to get around this or am I missing something

yeah for some reason they have Elective Mode disable on default. On Pc you go to options and under gameplay enable Elective mode. That ill add an arrow left and right of the skill selection to equip abilities from different categories.

Macro button to spam and he uses "force move" Its in the settings.

kyle go to your settings and bind the second button of force move to your scroll wheel. Then scroll the mouse wheel to move around.
