well, I have to disagree, i tried your suggested build and I was dieing like hell. we did 105 speeds (with 2 vyr's) and almost every run I died at least one time. Where does toughness come from? Sure, I dont have 4,4k paragon like you do. perhaps that's what makes the big difference...

@@regjis1 I would think at that level you should have over 100K toughness. If not, recheck your stats on your gear. Also can try rubies instead of diamonds for armor. Diamonds = all resist, but as a necro you have a lot of INT, which = all resist. Another variant that I use while working up to GR100+ is 4 piece Pestilence. That gives you an insane amount of toughness - in the MILLIONS. Use the boots and swap the ring for a RRoG. I think loosing the extra circle on the ground to stay alive is minimal sacrifice to team. Personally I think it is a great alternative ZNEC build. If dying use a shield instead - I personally always use the shield. GRift lvl is important also, as the mobs have to die relatively fast to make (more) corpses and progress faster. If you are dying, maybe the Vyr's aren't slaughtering as fast as they should be for that GRift lvl? Just thinking here. Im paragon 1K and run 95-105 range OK. Seems like with a few tweaks you build up toughness. Finally - gear augmentation is important! Level gems to 80-90 range and make sure you have +STR on ALL gear pieces!! That makes a HUGE difference :)

Just a quick question, I know old znecs are used to bone spear - crystallization instead of blood nova, as they might be able to get to the highest breakpoint of 4 FPS if they can manage to pull a spear that pierces more than a certain number of enemies. I also understand your logic of using blood nova. In your opinion, why do you prefer the latter?

Hey man, I just found your channel gearing up for season 18. I arrived late to 17 but it was my first time running a nec, and I have to say pretty nice class (coming from monk). Anyway, watching your videos and even the one you recommended by Fluffy it seems that all of these builds are revolving around some pretty hardcore gear (ancients, primal ancients) might take some time to get the gear you need. Do you still think pestilence starting out is a good way to go or should I maybe run a monk first to obtain shards/GR keys?

C. Reese if you want to play necro, I’d start on necro. Monk is faster, but necro is second fastest. Not worth playing an alt to gear up a necro in my opinion

Rax, what do you think about rathma shield instead of eternal torment? I never felt the necessitiy for the curse to last forever, but I think a couple of seconds of immortability is always nice, specially with perma land of the dead.

ricrc I would definitely use eternal torment, walking over mobs and automatically sentencing them to death is invaluable. I wouldn’t take rathmas shield because we’re already immortal :)

Raxx, with less than 24h for the next season, can you upload a guide for speedfarming (DBs and Bounty)? On S17 I used the LoN Mage with avarice, goldwrap and boon of the hoader. It gave me survivability and a ton of gold (which is important for empowered GR). Considering now we will have the Sage's belt, can you come up with a good T16 db and gold farm on normal rifts? (There were a couple of guides available on KZbin already, but their build are not strong enough and it was advised to play T15, which I really dislike) Probably the LoD mage will still be the best one for bounties (but without goldwrap now). If you think there is a better build, lemme know. Thanks again! I was going to play as a wzd nxt season, but after seeing your s18 necro guides, I decided to play as a necro!

Hey bud, I put out a Mage T16 guide, but it doesn't use Sages. I never use that because I always get a ton of DBs by just murdering T16 so fast. If I were you I'd just skip Sages set for more power and just farm that way. That's what I'm going to do anyway!

@@Raxxanterax I rewatched it and had some ideas. When I get good gear, I will probably switch relina for Messerschmidt's Reaver or In-geom, and bone spikes for simulacrum. Essence will not be a problem with almost perma LotD. And I don't care about teleporting before casting a mage to open door (with molting).

Hi there! Thanks for the glorious guide. I have modified your build slightly to better fit season 21 changes. I've dropped Blood Nova for Simulacrum and I take a Cursed Form rune. This way I apply 3 curses for even better support. I cube Haunted Visions and switch Zodiac to Briggs'. I rely on Blood Rush solely to lower my cooldowns. I have also switched Life from Death passive to Stand Alone since I was missing toughness. I'm having a blast with this setup. Important note: i don't run rats but rather run with DHs (mostly). I have a question, though. Does knockback from Briggs' has to be activated constantly for Strongarm to proc or can I do it once and forget?

Both are very good. znec gives higher crit hit chance, but monk can protect the squirts buff. in general I think the monk is slightly better

znec doesn't do any damage, the best would be LoN Mages

This is a support build. It doesn't do damage by itself, but it helps preparing the mobs to get killed by your group. Basically just freezing everything, so they can't attack your group and giving 100% crit chance for better dps

Hey buddy, I think you should look in to removing frailty and the torment passive. With the new 10% kill axe the barb can run that. And the znec can now use command skeleton: enforcer rune, and use fueled by death passive.

Jared Pate why command skeletons though? Our cooldowns are already up in the blink of an eye. Also frailty is 15% death not 10%

There will be some down time in higher rat run grs, because the group will be hunting elites. With command skeletons the znec will be able to keep a permanent LoTD up 100% of the time in the higher levels. The 10% kill axes just happens to fit in for the barb cube. I think overall in higher levels this set up will be safer with exp pool stacking.

The way I suggested also opens up the cube slot in your build, could run a Halcyon Ascent. Briggs gets you killed some times if you did have down time on LoTD, or at lower paragon level with out a higher HP pool. Just a thought. Can be done many ways.

You have to proc your own strong arms, so we need briggs. Still, an alive znec is better than a dead one. Take dayntees until you get some better gear / gons then you can switch back

Rubies are only better at very high paragon levels because you're putting a lot of your paragon into vitality, so you won't have a million int by default.

I probably missed it when I watched this last night, but how do you maximize crit cap as quickly as possible? I’m trying znec with a pretty geared vyr wiz but we definitely struggled damage wise on a 120 (not very badly when there was enough trash and only when it stayed alive though). I’m wondering if maybe it’s combination of not having enough cd and attack speed to get the crit cap maxed, and/or the wiz needing more augments. and from what I understand that crit cap only lasts 5s. I just wonder if there’s some playstyle changes I need to make compared to, say, rat runs.

to crit cap as quickly as possible, when you arrive at an elite, manually cast corpselances on them (having more attack speed will crit cap them faster)

i'd say yes: they (lon singularity) get descent benefits from patch (squirt or FoT are viable instead of CoE maybe) and HUGE boost from season, because 2 of 3 ground rings are deal stuff for rats: damage buff is always cool and CDR circle is by far the best what we saw just because the uptime of simulacrum and LoD with it are insane, so we could even reserve more damage on our gear instead of rolling CDR

Am I missing something your over 4000 paragon, Do you know how long it takes in a new season to get to 4000+ Paragon. Maybe I am doing something wrong but how many hundreds of hours do you have to play in a new season to get to 4000+ Paragon. How about showing something reasonable in a new season and see what you can do with 400 to 600 Paragon and what GR you can do then?

This build is designed for the group xp grind. If you level with a group you should be Paragon 400 in much less than 10 hours from the season start and probably before you even gather all the pieces for this build. But even at 800 Paragon LON rat runs will easily do 100+ in the same time as shown here.

I'm doing t16 rifts and gr 80-85 pretty easily. In very imperfect gear. All I did was reroll everything to focus on raising my life and def. I'm not worrying about AS until later. "Dead zNecro gives no support", is kinda how I look at it. (Plus those perfect/semi perfect drops will come in time) If need be I'd suggest you swap out a gem for a defensive one.(I'd go with the crit one cause brittle touch will crit cap team anyway on anything that stays alive more than a second or 2) Occasional one shots will happened until you get used to it. So don't sweat it, you'll catch on if you stay persistent. GOOD LUCK!

My frost lances and land of the dead keep everything frozen all the time and i dont think im getting good value out of cubed strongarm bracers. Do they still make mobs take more dmg if you curse them after they are frozen?

Milos the strong arms are procced by the briggs wrath ring, not by the curse or the LOTD. We absolutely must take them because it gives the rats 30% more damage

In season 20 I have been running with in geom and messerschmitt in cube with captain crimson boots and pants, pestilence gloves and shoulders, born sword and chest and daytees binding on belt. And a RoRG in cube for extra cdr and the damage reduction from crimson 3 piece. My cdr is 73%, goes to about 77% with a stacked gogok. Is that efficient? What can I drop for more toughness? If the rats deal damage and can proc my messersmichts I have perm uptime, but I just seem to get popped really easy after a port.

The easiest way to become very tanks is to drop efficacious toxin for esoteric alteration. Also fully augmenting your znec with strength will give you a lot of armor and will increase your damage majorly. Also, if you aren’t, use blood rush potency for even more armor

Yea it's a great starter! It got a lot of buffs this season, and I'd recommend looking up Lord Fluffy's Blood & Essence Necro build. I think he was clearing something like 99 GRs with no paragon main stat invested and a few 100 augments. Obviously the augs wouldn't be there immediately for league start, but this build should be flying through 85+ GRs once you get all the base items.

I am using halcyon's ascent so everything is jumping while lotd is active, so it triggers strongarm bracers. I also have rorg in the cube to get the more dmg reduction from the captain crimson set so no room for briggs. And without dayntees binding in the cube, I die way too easy - cant run nemesis bracers. Also running stand alone in passives for 100% extra armor instead life from death. 200m toughness now with 1,3m hp 900paragon. Couple augmented items. Can barely do gr100 without dying. Tips how to advance from here?

Instead pf replacing the diamond in the helm would it work to instead use a different passive than blood is power and replace blood nova? Usually in new seasons I tend to be fairly squishy until 1k+ paragon because I focus on getting cool down and attack speed on all pieces so until I get optimal gear I dont always have the life on hit or armor that I need. If my dps buddies dont clear all mobs before cc ends (with diminishing returns on cc) I just pop... Would prefer to avoid damaging myself on purpose if I can avoid it. Idk I'm probably missing something or multiple somethings in my play style.

MadDog Gaming one thing I’d recommend is if you’re not killing the move quickly to lower the difficulty. If your runs are taking longer than 3 minutes, you’re doing too high of a GR

play this setup in season, with 3k paragon less, and you will get shredded to pieces without toughness.. with 4.4k para its easy to tank stuff as znec, with 1.5 its not. still awesome build, but you gotta take paragon into comparison

Mhh i have the problem even with more deff gear i die realy often , in the 4man group with a sbarb and without one im dead meat24/7 from my feeling

For those who are dying with this build, use this instead www.d3planner.com/772215561 . I tried the build Rax showed in the video but for me it didn't work, i kept dying. I'm not saying Rax's build is bad or inferior to the one i use, just saying that i haven't died with "my" build and some people might prefer the one i linked. It's not as fast, since you wont have the movement speed buffs and don't worry about the strongarm bracers, most of the time, the zbarb is the one who has them. With "my" build you can stand in every attack( electricity, molten, poison,etc) most of the time your health wont budge. Again i'm not "hating" on Rax's build, i'm just trying to help the community. Edit1: i have done 118's with "my" build, so i know for sure that at least until you are at that level, you will never die. Edit2: if you find yourself in need of more recovery in the higher levels (120+) feel free to switch Satiated in the skill Devour to Cannibalize. With this change the recovery you get is worth the loss in hp.

Hey Raxx, im playing with an archon wiz, and my survivabity is not so high... a lot of your gear isn't even rerolled my friend boots -> roll life per second to strength (roll them on a barb) pants -> roll life per second to armor gloves -> roll crit to armor helm -> roll life per second to vitality chest -> roll bone spirit to armor belt -> roll siphon blood to armor nems -> roll cold to armor and then change the rubies in your armor for diamonds (diamonds are better unless you have a bagillion intelligence, which you do not currently :D)

also, if that isn't enough, take out efficacious toxin for esoteric aleration until you get stronger

The armor rolls are extremely important, and keeping land of the dead up 100% of the time means all the mobs are frozen and can't hit you. Just continue to build up your gear and you will be a tank
