Diablo 3 - Softcore vs Hardcore

Just wanted to share my thoughts on the constant battle between SC and HC players. I hope people aren't affected by such comment, and stick to play and enjoy the game, no matter what gamemode they play - both are a lot of fun!

I agree 100% Moldran, and i'm not a softcore player like yourself, I enjoy the chance to lose everything, and having to worry about my hp, sacrificing killing speed vs reduced chance to die and lose everything. But then again, I NEVER have internet issues. Some people just prefer to be more relaxed when they play and dont enjoy the anxiety that comes with hardcore in certain times.

I prefer softcore because I personally can't handle the thought of losing a character I spent hundreds of hours on, given that I have limited time to play the game if I want to have a social life. But it doesn't mean HC sucks, its just not for me, simple as that. No need to be hostile to different opinions.

Man this video should be top 1 for diablo.Everyone plays what they want not like Kongor that he thinks that hc is bad and sc is for noobs or something like that.Not all people have time to play non-stop hc and gear up like him.There are people that are playing the game in sc FOR FUN not like him.Thx for sharing this video man it was informative :)

Hardcore in Diablo isn't really hardcore. It's like playing The Sims on hardcore where your character can die of old age, doesn't make The Sims a hardcore game and same goes for Diablo. You should play whatever you enjoy the most but don't think you are pro because you play HC in Diablo 3 ^^

Both modes are real cool. I personally don't play Hardcore for latency concerns, but I believe every player should try to max lvl at least one hero on hardcore just for record's sake. SC is awesome because you can get all the gear you want, and test your mettle against T6 eventually. When I play SC, I try my best to NOT die. It makes it fun thinking that way. I also still believe that there should be some sort of penalty for dying in SC, like a loss of XP for example.

I play both, but mostly SC for now. back in vanilla D3 I got bored of SC and gave HC a try, it was really fun. Gave the game a fresh new feeling. Then I died like 2 times due to my internet dropping connection/ power going out. I live in Bangladesh and the power goes out all the time....not good when you play HC. So I will resume my HC when I get a UPS so I can keep gaming even when the power is out :) but I still plan to play SC as main since most of my friends play SC

Hardcore really just adds that bit more of difficulty. A bit more survival involved in it, which can be fun for some, although with the new difficulty system, it's not that hard to survive.

Since you keep your paragon level even after you die in hardcore there is little difference between hc and sc in my opinion. I would respect way more hc players if you'd lost your paragon level as well. Now that would be hardcore.

I enjoy both HC and softcore. No need to name call or belittle anyone who doesn't want to play HC mode for whatever reason (fear of DC, latency issues etc or simply doesn't like the permanence of death to their character).

i used to play softcore, now i´m hc only. it´s more fun to me, since there was no excitement in sc anymore. but as you say, everyone has a different way to play and enjoy the game, that´s the most important thing so just do what you like? :D there will always be some ppl who compensate things via gaming and then start hating others but well... who cares

I definetely agree living in Autsralia my net is not stable enough to enjoy hardcore and i dont have the time to have to gear characters everytime i die. Kongor's always a disrespectful dousche.

Hey moldran! I hope you see this, are you aware if this is a bug or a glitch, where on my monk, I can use my dash skill and teleport across levels of the area? This glitch can be used to speed run or whatever however I don't think this is a design choice? Since you're a big community voice for Diablo, could you consider checking this out?

I just won't play hardcore for the reason of lag. Sometimes it just happens that I lag and move in position (although my connection is pretty stabil) and then I die and I won't risk this is HC.

Kongor is playing HC in D3 now because HC doesn't really exist in D3 anymore : you can choose your own difficulty level, the game has nearly no complexity and Paragon Levels are no longer lost with you character. You find at least decent gear so fast now that going back where you were before you die (if that only happens) is fast as fuck.

The only reason why i prefer HC over Sc is because i actually get good drops from rifts versus SC. Over the course of 3 weeks since launch, my SC toon has never seen any Torment level loot. While in HC I finally got my first ever class set ilvl70 item. HC is just far more reward. Good internet connect or not.

Pretty ironic, Kongor is known for being a SC player himself, he's just playing HC for a few weeks now, and whenever he tried to play HC in the past, way before RoS came out, he always ended up dying like a noob and raging about it, instead of accepting it and moving one, like a proper gamer would do. Honestly, his envy towards other successful streamers and players is beyond my understanding, I guess he's happy the way he is, but he seems to seriously need help, some mental help that is, sometimes. In any case, just play whatever the hell you like, as long as you respect the rest or the people, it's that simple.

Blizzards servers are not designed for HC, that is a fact, I even die in softcore too lag, why on earth would I risk it all and die, when I can enjoy and regardless of the hick up's with net issues at times not lose my char to something that was out of my control. all I can say to the hardcore players, it's your bag swing it, whichever one of you makes it upto paragon 800 deserves payment, cause I sure don't unless softcore.

This is such horseshit. There is no hardcore in Diablo 3, once you reach a certain level of gear it's impossible to die unless you make a really big fuck up. It's a casual game. Releveling after death takes like a couple of hours and regearing to a decent level doesn't take very long because of the massive abundance of great gear. So why even beef between softcore and hardcore.when both are so similiar?

well it is possible to die if u play on the hardest difficulty. There can be some "bad" situations where its impossible to survive.. Elite mobs can have a combination mods that can hard counter your play style or build.

Du sagst du hast Internet Probleme - bist du auch bei A1? Ich war bei CableLink (wohne in Salzburg) und hatte ~1/h einen disconnect - jetzt bin ich bei A1 - da hab ich keine disconnects mehr, dafür lags! Sprich: Der Ping droppt manchmal auf ~400ms und alles ist verzögert... Irgendwie hab ich das gefühl, das in Österreich generell ein Problem mit den Diablo 3 Servern ist. Aber bis jetzt kam mir A1 noch am "besten" vor (ist übrigens auch nur 4mb - weil höher nicht möglich). Mich würde WIRKLICH interessieren, ob es mehreren Österreichern so geht, weil ich höre es immer wieder das die anderen auch Probleme haben.

I think when you die you should lose like 5 paragon levels and lose all all durability on all items as punnishment. + remove harcore. So all play the same gamemode.

Softcore is better for PvP communities. Hardcore is more for PvE ladders. Right now there's no PvP or ladders...

Meh, HC is just another level of difficulty. Personally i hate to lose alot of progress for any reason. I know that what i do in game, stays there, without disappearing.

When battlenet had troubles I was getting disconnected like 5 times a day. Playing hardcore is the dumbest thing ever when the Blizzard servers are trash. Anyway hardcore is like softcore but at a much slower pace. I don't see any point in playing HC whatsoever.

Kongor constantly gets carried in HC anyway, when he dies and claims it doesn't bother him yet the look on his face and his whining to his chat for 2 hours afterwards shows otherwise. Softcore players got nothing on hardcore all the benefits in hardcore u also have in softcore. And the fact that DC can kill u just means u have one more thing to worry about, that dosn't make it easier by any means. If u wanna play sc fine but if streamers wanna show me they can do torment 6 do it on hardcore (and not with 25 mil toughness and 100k dps) even alkalizer dies every 15 min. Yes hardcore was even more hardcore b4 2.0 but it's still way more hardcore than softcore. And hardcore was even more hardcore at launch :p
