I still don't feel they have earned the full game price yet (let alone an expansion and season passes), and this seasonal content is such a joke with the base game being in such a state. TBH the expansion feels like it should have been free content to fix the crap game they launched with, and even then it was kinda a let down. At 282-286 you have access to every rare node for every class so anything past that is basically pointless the rest of the nodes just go on main stat. The mount for 300 imo is not worth getting to 300. What kept me interested past 260 once I completed 150 was making another class. Made a sorc that clears hordes better than any sb and it’s a blast stealing kills from sb lol. My sorc does everything outside of pit/bosses wayy faster than sb. If you guys are feeling tired of that one off rogue go try a sorc :)

Mephisto isn't coming until there's an expansion where you fight him in the campaign... As for seasons, the issue is that half the time they're just centered around things that should have been in the game since launch, like the season of loot. If it's the season of the armory with nothing more in terms of a seasonal story it's just them continuing the development of the game, which should have been finished before they even released the game.

@@synkotic When I fought him the fight stalled/bugged out, it was so anti-climatic. I ran around until I found 1 hidden shadow enemy, which was not spawning until I ran within proximity. Then the fight did continue, but it felt so disappointing. Even have it on twitch recorded.

The SB is still broken but at least Blizzard did fix the stability issues however there are still some annoying bugs like one bug causing the game sound to turn off. Or the stables still being laggy. It's not even the 'content', it's the gear. Even after the rework, gear is boring. You don't make a gear hunting game with boring gear. They said they were going to use D2 as an influence for D4, but they didn't use the best part of D2, the loot. D2's loot is arguable the best in any ARPGs ever. The only game that even compares is Elden Ring. The gear needs to have lore, and backstory, it needs to be unique and highly desirable with high rarity. This will never change as long as they continue focusing on 'who to make the game for' instead of just making a good game that will grow a player base. RIP Diablo.

I'm not sure why your 2nd point is an issue. It's always been that way and it gives you a chance to regain all the rewards (and another spark) for your new character. You're going to replay all the content on any new character anyways so you might as well get re-rewarded for it.

It’s a leadership issue. They aren’t being led to do good things, the idea that the producer is making decisions even considering the impact of a Twitter poll is terrifying for the future of the game. The expansion didn’t fundamentally address any of the problems of the game, and since we didn’t fight Mephisto this year that means fighting Diablo is several years away. The new class aside from bugs is mechanically interesting but not what the game needed. The bugs making 40% of the playerbase not playing spiritborn irrelevant is a real problem, and them not even pretending to care is a bigger problem. Player retention this season is abysmal. And a lot of those folks won’t be coming back.

It's the usual Blizzard theme, it's been going that way in WoW already for years, good expansion, mid/bad expansion, good expansion, mid/bad expansion (until it was just bad expansions). It always seemed like they had an A and a B team working on the expansions in an alternating fashion. Get people hyped, then coast, hype, coast. As long as people don't leave completely they still make their money because people hope that there's two good ones in a row, which never happens.

(XP rushes to hurry you through the game to the end and power creep).

The game is just too tedious to play. I skipped the DLC season entirely just from burnout from clicking too much loot, having to compare everything, managing gear properly because storage is awful and so limited (IN A LOOT FOCUSED GAME)... Legitimately you're "playing the game" 60% of the time with the other 40% doing tedious little jobs in town and every other little noncombat thing... That's what it feels like, a tedious job. That is the last thing you want in your video game! The game doesn't respect the players time. They've been working to bettering that but its still really bad. I know its an ARPG and there will always be some of that, but not as poorly implemented as this and as annoying as this. Las Epoch gives you INFINITE storage with a very nice sorting, labelling and filter you can use. It has loot filters and no need to break down items so you turn your filter on and you're picking up orders of magnitude less of crap vs D4. I had some fun but that fun is way more finite and limited because I legitimately dread going back and dealing with all the annoyances. Their current devs do not play video games outside of maybe very light casual stuff. Any Diablo gamer would have spotted all these problems way earlier. They don't care and they need the community to tell them what to do for everything now, despite not paying them in the slightest. IDK how their leadership and game design teams are still employed.

The problem is D4 had one last chance to go all out before PoE2 and they continue to play it safe. The game still has lack luster build depth. Grinding paragon points is a chore especially when you already ran through all the content 1000 times. I never got excited over gear dropping. I just sold it or deconstructed it. I want to like D4 but it’s the same stuff every season. The theme is a small portion of the gameplay and then you just go back to grinding the pit and nightmare dungeons. Then you just focus on boss fights.

Not wanting to fix/nerf the spiritborn based on an online poll is dumb. Basically they don't mind people leaving and not playing season 6 and quitting till season 7 because there is no point to keep playing. Most that played a spiriborn already one shot everything. There is no reason to roll another class that will feel like trash. In past seasons once you max out one class you play another class and then another class. Because they are all fairly even to each other. But with this season after you play Spiritborn, no one in their right mind would want to play the other classes because they are so far below and feel like utter garbage. So it's best just to quit till season 7. The devs basically acted like they don't mind if everyone quits and no one plays till season 7 with their stubborn view on not wanting to fix the spiritborn. They even said that with the insignificant buffs they are giving the other classes they still won't be remotely close to the spirit born.

And when I grouped up with a spirit born friend, they somehow one shot every tormented boss when I had to do a bit of work to kill them. I then knew that no matter how good my gear was or how much I grinded, I would never get close to that power level with other classes.

The fact they have designed it so players who haven't paid for the expansion now have less skill points/paragon points they can obtain, no ability to use runes/mercenaries etc means that those players are permanently just weaker than players of the same class who have the expansion. This is pay to win pure and simple. I was thinking of buying the expansion but on the basis of this predatory design I've changed my mind, better off not getting in any deeper with this sort of rubbish.

Diablo 4 has speed-run the late stage seasonal ARPG timeline. After 3 seasons, we have now just transitioned over to where just fixing previous broken stuff is the season mechanic. Further proven by the phoned in Halloween event, and the rehashing of the previous Christmas event. Even Diablo Immortal got full fledged events for the seasons. I guess I would be more disappointed if the game were to cost full price with a full priced expansion, or something.

@@ShinzoX90 I don't really seek any validation in the amount of hours I have played, no matter what I say it won't be enough to satisfy the Blizz can never do any wrong crowd. I play each season to max level, usually a couple characters (3 this season, and no I am not 300 paragon, so my statement is obviously invalid - I am just not going to waste my time getting there), beat Lilith in a couple, do the ladder bosses in all of them, and I have done Dark Citadel 3 cycles in this season, probably average somewhere in the 3-4 weeks per season range. I have put more than enough time in. Either way, it doesn't take a large number of hours to state the obvious fact that they haven't had a season theme the last 3 seasons (this season being reasonable considering the expansion launching at the same time, 4 and 5's themes were season of 'fix some thing') and they haven't put a ton of effort into events outside of the Chinese New Year and the first Christmas one. Just the theme of Diablo as an IP should be a Halloween home run. Diablo Immortal objectively has more content flow than D4 does, and it's not an edgy opinion to say it, it's just true.

I feel the problem is that they have EVERYTHING under campfire chat. Just have different livestreams, one for bugs and fixes (like this one) and one where you always present features and stuff under a different name. This way ppl know when to expect the juicy details and when they can expect information about the state of game and issues.

@@Wasjash its not gutted if it's in line with where it should be. that's how balancing works. this mindset is why these games are garbage (in my opinion, no offense to you). yeah there's always going to be some builds that are a little better than others because its difficult to balance, but they should not be broken. this build is broken. i see little point to even play this game anymore, and im still here playing diablo 2 since beta. ive played poe since beta as well. both games have had problematic builds over the years but they fixed them and they strived to make as many builds viable as possible.

In my opinion what blizzard should of done for a big win was release The Armory in the season 6 mid season patch this way people could easily switch up there builds and transition to something new for the last half of the season.... i feel that if blizzard did this people would of been a little bit more excited for the mid season patch. P.S. I hope in season 7 we have a power based mechanic like season 2 combined with an over powered season gylph for are paragon like we had a few season ago similar to "The Tears of Blood Gylph" with an addition of a new Seneschal Companion system..... The problem for me is game retention. There’s 2 events to level up your paragon at end game. Hordes or The Pit. I’ve done both so many times to get up to 274 paragon. I’m bored of running them. There is no other way of really getting the xp you need in any other content. You could but it would take the entire season to do so. As to the new raid thingy - not many people I know want to run it, so I’m left with randoms and we inevitably fail because people don’t learn the mechanics and so the party disbands. Still haven’t had a full play through due to this reason. Still haven’t learned all the mechanics to complete it because the party disbands before I can learn or play all the way through. There are some good changes but it’s not enough to keep me in game the entire season.

The reason they don't give us regular seasonal mechanics like Season 2 is because it's "too much work" not enough "profit". Same goes for not getting lots of new items (it was like this in D3 as well for as long as I played it which was a few years). My advice is skip the start of the seasons and wait a month and half to 2 and see what it's all about then do the same on future expansion launches. They may just scrap the game in 2 years and move onto Diablo 5 or some other game (a prequel to Diablo 1).

I kept going back to D3 because not only was there some new mechanic every season but evereseason had seasonal gear for each class that changed how that characters abilities worked. I quite enjoyed that. I'm kinda hanging by a thread with D4 sadly.

My number one thing is that the power progression just feels off. Power progression feels slow and then artificially spiked when they decide my level is high enough. And then my builds drop off and I feel like I need to seek a build guide to compensate for what I’m seeing with other players.

100% agree about Season 2...fantastic. The vampiric powers promoted a lot of build diversity and compensated for a lot of the skill tree and paragon shortcomings across all classes. Runewords were a good add, but fall short of the S2 vamp powers in terms of impact to almost all buillds

They are experts at making people come back every season to either play it completely or to dip their toes in, but it’s a game of jack of all trades and master of nothing. I feel they deliberately under power classes at the start of the season ( they must know) and have other very underwhelming parts of the game and they say it will all get balanced mid season, you know why? It keeps a constant flow of people coming back…. If they got it right first time then people would stay and be spreading positive news all the time… they mislead everyone….and you know what? We put up with it, cos there’s isn’t another game that just flows so simp,e and smoothly as Diablo.

I was playing on softcore and decided to switch to hardcore to bring some fresh excitement to the game. What surprised me was that I couldn't start the season on hardcore because I’d already completed it on softcore. Characters in each mode don’t share a stash, yet I still have to re-farm things like Lilith altars and town reputation from scratch on hardcore, even though I unlocked everything on softcore. So seasonal progress is shared between soft/hard modes but you need to grind town reputations and Lili altars for each mode separately. What a "great game design". The game is beautiful but dead.

The base game itself is still under development with major changes slapped on this season and I have no confidence it won't be massively shifted again. Yet we're halfway through a paid expansion with problems of its own and a giant gap in class balance which apparently was evident in the PTR. I feel like Blizzard still owes us a decent game which they were moving toward in season 5 and then completely blundered this season after asking for more money. D4...not good

I've had the same issue with D4 since launch; you hit a massive wall in progression and are more or less just min maxing well before max level, and levels don't really give you enough to justify slowly grinding for. It feels like you get 80-90% of your progression in the first half of your playtime in the season, then have to spend the entire second half for the last 10-20%, which would be fine if they didn't expect you to do it all over again in 3 months, or if the seasonal content actually went to eternal as well. I generally stick to Grim Dawn to dodge the seasonal model, which I'm hoping TQ2 also avoids.

I totally agree. I miss something nice for the season with some nice cutscenes like we had in season 2. Just fixes and rework don't feel like a seasonal mechanic and just makes playing boring because it's just the same over again without adding anything.

I haven't seen anyone mention that the Nahantu nightmare dungeons aren't fully complete. Am I the only one that noticed it doesn't tell you what tasks you have to complete like all the other nightmare dungeons?

In the new dungeons only thing you have to do is run to the end boss. There is one random challenge you can do for a loot cave. But it’s not required.
