The reason you had to kill Maligaro, Doedre, and Shavrone again is because your instance timed out and when you went back it was a new zone with the minibosses alive again. Campaign Zones usually last between either 15 minutes (if the area leads to multiple others) or 8 minutes (if its a dead end) when you are not inside them. Really enjoying your impressions and that you are having fun. Looking forward to seeing more. Also, all the crafting recipes you have been unlocking you can access from a crafting bench you can place in your hideout. They allow you to add a stat to a rare item (if it has the available prefix or suffix for currency orbs)

@@NyxVellum to add to this, that vendor Siosa (and another you'll meet later who you can get in your hideout, which is convenient) sells those gems at gem level 1. As you were browsing the blue gems early in the video you noted that you lacked the intelligence to use them; this is because the act vendors sell gems which are close to your character level to use (up to around char level 50, anyway). Often the "correct" play is to just have enough to use the gem appropriate for your level, but if you don't have enough of that stat you can use a lower level one. Support gems suffer less from being under-leveled than active gems, so being able to grab them at gem level 1 means you can probably *use* them, they just won't be quite as good as they could be.

So a quick description on how Poison works in POE. It's a non-elemental ailment that deals Chaos damage over time. It lasts (default) 2 seconds but it can *stack indefinitely* (if only you had a rapid-fire skill like Barrage 😉). The damage poison deals is based on the combined physical and chaos damage you deal with a Hit. You can poison as long as you have above 0% chance to poison on hit. Caustic Arrow *can* poison, but the pool is incapable of poisoning, and does not benefit from increases to damage with poison.

@sv98753 9 ай бұрын
and you can in theory have about 18k stacks atm
@talos7314
@talos7314 9 ай бұрын
It is worth pointing out, that the damage of the poison depends only on the damage of the base hit. That means that increases and reductions to the skill, like "%increased/reduced damage with bows or hits" don't affect the posion (unless stated otherwise), only things like "adds # physical/chaos damage to bows/hits" (that's the base damage) work. The poison damage itself increases with % chaos damage and (chaos) damage over time. Rain of Arrows or Barrage are good for posion or Toxic Rain, wich can be bought in act 1 and is really good.

This might sound strange, but if you want to make your own build, I suggest you read a guide for a completely different class/skill combo. For example, look up a "beginner guide" for some witch spell caster build. This wouldn't directly tell you what to do on your build, but it would explain more of the base mechanics you might be missing, misunderstanding, or underestimating. Seeing how that other guide tells you to acquire new gear for their build might give you ideas for how to get better gear for your build too while still leaving the choice of what gear you want up to you. - I love seeing you trying to piece together the skill gem system. - the skill tree has a search feature if you want to search for "life", "poison", defenses, or attributes - at some point (I think it's act 6 town?) you will find a vendor that sells every purchasable skill and support gem in the game. They'll all be level 1 (rather than the old specific vendors that sell slightly pre-leveled gems). If you're still messing around with different gem settups by that point, that will be the easiest way to do it down the line.

If you end up hitting a wall at some point, rather than recommend a guide, I would actually recommend starting a new character with all the knowledge (and loot) from your first character available to them, you'll find you'll be better at planning in health/defence/resists and the like once you've hit that wall once or twice.

Mate, I love these series as it literally just puts me back 10+ years ago when I was a teeny lad playing PoE for the first time. This is why I also think you shouldn't listen to other people when you list out the Cons and I can totally agree with those in the previous videos, after all, it's a perspective of a first timer and if the game doesn't portray how it should be played, then that's an L (con) for the game. As a person who have been playing PoE for more than 10 years now, I can pretty much say that the game has lots and lots of W's but it also has it's fair share of L's. So please, don't erase the Cons at the end of the vids, I can even argue that the cons listed by the community actually help the game get better. -PS In the beginning at ACT 6, all of the skill/support gems will be sold by one NPC until you finish the whole game

This. It's a small tip apart of a larger mechanic of vendor recepies that really incrementally increase your wealth and give you such a relevant crafting currency. I remember last episode he said something along the lines of "Oh I wish I'd get gem rewards I could actually use" and similar to this video He said something like "Oh I wish I'd get items I can actually use". Crafting even basic stuff is incredibly easy, especially turning an ok gear piece with good sockets and links to something decent by quickly adding a +life modifier or a damage modifier of your choice. It becomes even more crucial to craft when he starts to feel the weight of Ele resistance penalties at act 6 and again in the epilogue

Great series ! About the dev support, there's a vault pass each league but it gives you MTX only when you reach maps, which is after the end of the campaign. Another alternative to support and at the same time improve your game experience would be to buy special stash tabs, you can see their price in the in-game shop (I guess the basic key bind is M or K, don't remember exactly which one). My recommendation for a first one is the currency tab, whenever you get one you'll be unable to play without it anymore. Notable fact about this, the devs told us at Exilecon that microtransactions would be available inside both PoE 1 and PoE 2, so you won't feel tied to PoE 1 by buying one, I feel like it is important to tell you this beforehand ! Last thing about your progression, people were already telling you this last time, but getting into the trials and looking at the 6-light plaque in Act 3 will completely change the way you see the game depth, don't wanna spoil anything so I will just say that's completely worthwhile to spend some time trying to figure this out. If you're playing a poison build, there's an interesting spell called Plague Bearer, available in Act 3, that you might want to play around with. It turns some of your poisons into an AoE damage cloud around your character. Poisons are calculated based on the base flat physical and chaos damage a hit does, so any elemental damage on your bow won't increase them, and support gems that give more hit damage won't increase them. Poisons also don't innately benefit from critical strikes, though you can invest into a way to change that, rather they scale with a stat called Damage Over Time Multiplier (both generic and Chaos specific). You can find some of that stat on the tree near the Ranger start. There's an attack called Scourge Arrow, again from the Act 3 vendor, that you might want to play around with since it does a lot of base chaos damage. Toxic Rain, from the Act 1 vendor, is another interesting one, kind of like a chaos version of Rain of Arrows. For ascendency classes, Pathfinder is focused on poison/chaos and flasks, Deadeye is focused on projectiles, and Raider is focused on Going Fast

Not sure if other people have mentioned yet or not but you do also have an additional bar for skills at the bottom right if you hold ctrl. Most people use those for activating their auras without taking up slots for quick spells. Another note, like you briefly mentioned, you should swap your left click to move only. Basic attacks do almost no damage and you can sometimes stop to do a basic attack when you meant to be running if you accidentally click on an enemy

Just to add on to this... all of these are just hotkeys you can change in the options. You can get rid of the ctrl+ key hotkeys and just change them to a /s /d / f / g or whatever. The hidden bar doesn't have to be showing to use the skill. I still use 2 buttons as hotkey for my aura slot though such as shift + f, in order to reduce accidental toggling.

The mine encampment, also called Delve, is an older league mechanic. Many of the various mechanics you'll start bumping into from now on will have had their own league at some point. GGG then modifies it and puts it into the core game. I recommend using the crafting recipes you find, it will make your playthrough a lot easier. If you go to your hideout you can place down your crafting bench. On this bench you can craft on one modifier on an item if the item has an open affix, an item can maximum have 3 prefixes and 3 suffixes. This is especially a great way to cap your resistances early on. Crafting is a big and complicated beast in PoE but specifically the crafting bench is easy enough and will be a great help right away. Also a quick mention on the why the game is giving you items you can't use. There's no rule in PoE that says you have to use a bow and quiver as the ranger. You can very legitimately make a ranger build that uses melee weapons, wands or whatever you want. PoE is very intentionally not as set in stone as Diablo when it comes to classes. You can modify the loot filter so it only shows you one type of gear though. The filter most people use is called filterblade. You can customize it on the filterblade website.

@NyxVellum Best build tip that i can give you (that is not "follow a guide" and that is fully in game only) with building your character in the passive tree is that you can press CTRL+F to do a search for passives containing that word or sentence. "chaos damage" "health" "bow" "ballista" etc. Passive nodes containing that word will glow and you can see where they are located to maybe figure out a better path between them. (CTRL+F works in searching trough any window in game importantly stash tab but also including leauge mechanics like bestiary and delve, items that npcs sell etc) Additional non-spoilery / in-game tips would be: *Survivability comes from layering defenses, for your build and in some order of priority (excluding HP and resistances as those are mandatory in every build) it would be: Evasion, Spell suppression, dodge, block, armor, decoy totem to taunt boss attacks, movement speed, attack speed (shorter attack means less time spent in the animation = faster ability to move) etc. *Different acts have different items & gems at vendors, buy new flasks once per act. Act 3 has a quest in Library that offers every gem in one place but a better way to get them is waiting till act 5 start for the same thing as its more obvious. *On hover over support gem it shows to the left of it which skills it can support. *Chaos damage over time is NOT the same as poison damage. Example: caustic arrow does not inflict poison by default, you need to link it to poison support or have other sources of poison on hit. *R-G-B linked sockets produce chromatic orbs, Un-ID rares sold produce transmutation orb pieces while ID'd rares produce orb of alteration pieces. *Instances reset after some time, usually 15min *Amulets are usually the way people start with solving low INT,STR,DEX. If you want more blue gems, start by finding +25-30 INT amulet. that will enable most of the options to test with. *Loot filter is not going to ruin your discovery or change the game in any negative way, filterblade.xyz has premade filters and it takes 1 minute to get it to work from website. They will help you with visual clutter. In delve you saw how many items drop in certain mechanics, it WILL get worse. Filters are very noob friendly way to help you guide your thinking in itemization and drop prioritization. They will also let you know if what you found is really good and you maybe should keep even if its not of use at the moment. *I HIGHLY recommend you turn on "show enemy hp above them" and "show item sockets always". Go back to act 2-3-4 and just test those for 5 minutes, if you dislike it just change them back but they will help you a lot with understanding your damage output and reduce confusion in itemization process. PoE is infinitely deep and complex, you will not run out of things to discover, do not feel like its anti-discovery or its going to ruin your fun if you add some of these assists. Majority of tips given to you by this community are curated in such a way to help you have fun, to help you discover what is fun for you. You are at the point in the game where you understand the principles of combat and questing and progressing further without loot filter, without some quality of life recommendation you are risking becoming overwhelmed and losing fun. These are my opinions and I respect if you disagree. I would love to see your thoughts on end game and it's design, so it is in my best interest to help you get there! Ultimately this is a game and if you are having fun, these videos will be entertaining and we will watch them, even if we spent most of the time internally screaming at you.

If the amount of items that drop on the ground is annoying, you should consider looking into a loot filter which will hide items which you'd never want or would never pick up. It also changes the size, colors, and sounds of certain items that drop which you'd always want to pick up.

You can, definitely, do a Ballista build. Ballistas are 'Attack' totems, not 'Spell' totems, so your weapon damage affects their damage, including passive nodes that increase damage with Bows. You even get nodes for it in the bottom right area of the tree.

By the way...Congratulations on making it this far already AND you have done it with ZERO build guides. It is impressive. I barely made it past act 2 on my first character ever many many years ago and it took me a lot of studying to get any further. You've just been going like a pro. Just so you know, Act 1, Act 2 and Act 3 have gem vendors. There is a *hidden* Gem vendor in act 3 that you MUST find and complete his quest. He has a TON of gems that are so helpful in making your build more functional.

Being so used to some "correct" ways of building makes me forget that some things can be really just fun. Cast on Critical Support (CoC for the community) is a highly specialized archetype centered around bypassing some powerfull spells slow cast speed by triggering them as much as you can with fast attacks. But seeing the joy you got from summoning your golem by it was really fun, and made me remember that the exploration is part of the jouney.

Buy some stash tabs! Particularly the currency stash tab. It's basically how it sounds, its buying more chest space, but different types of tabs store different types of things. This makes things more organized and easier to sift through. My favorite is the currency stash tab and the gem stash tab, but now I have them all!

About supporting the devs: 1. This game doesn't force u into buying more points to get a better deal if you don't care bout MTX. If you buy 200 points in 1 purchase or in 4x50 you pay and get same amount. 2. You do get extra when u spent 30$ and upwards. This is when you buy supporter packs. 30$ support packs for example contains 30$ worth of points and extra mtx. More expensive ones contain physical items like tshirts and posters. 4. With points you can buy stash tabs and MTX. You will be getting a lot of loot in this game besides items that you would want to keep and that where stash tabs come in handy. Most stash tabs can hold up to of 5k of your currency items like fusing, jewllers, chaos etc instead of your current 10-40 which gets out of hand fast. Stashes are a must buy in this game, so this game is more of a 20-40$ game with unlimited demo. Also there is a stash tab sale every 3 weeks. next one should be on 15th December 5.What stashes to buy. Most important are currency tab - lets you keep each currency item to 5k instead of 1-40 limit regular have Map stash tab - this is a must as soon as you finish acts. Without it managing your endgame progression is very annoying and complicated. Premium tab - this tab let's you have a convenient way to trade in this game. There is 2 way to acquire it. Buy straight up or upgrade your regular tab. Also it lets you rename and color your tabs Strong recommendation is Fragments Tab - it hold Fragments x). There is a lot of fragment in this game and this stash is getting updated when new base fragments are added. So in last couple leagues this tab grew very much and imo became a must, but can manage without in in the beginning Very good ones are also an essence tab and divination card tab - very good for organize but can manage without if you look into a loot filter. But essence tab lets you overlook and comfortably upgrade them instead of using 3 to 1 vendor recepie(3 lower tier and type of the same time turn into 1 higher tier). Divination card tab holds multiple sets like all other tab and you can overlook all the art of beautiful divination card art work. Beautifull. Everything else is not important and might become if you decide to farm a lot of certain mechanics in the endgame as some of the newer ones that stayed core contain own stash tab. Older ones go into fragment tabs. Also there is a thing called Affinities in stash tabs. You can right click your tab and set what type of items goes where and items will automatically go there when you put that item type in any tab. Gem/ flask tabs are bait and only get if you really want to collect ) Unique stash tab is cool but not needed at all.

a lot of people in the community disagree with me about this but i think you're playing the game the best way you can for the first time. you can *never* go back from using w build guide and learning so much, the magic of seeing this game for the first time and trying to work it out yourself and explore the beauty of this game in your own way. i would recommend following a guide once you take this build as far as you want so you can experience the game as the rest of us do because it truly becomes a different game, but doing your first playthrough like this is highly underrated and while people don't often suggest it, it's one of the few things you can't go back and experience the game with the level of exploration and mystique you have now. if you come to the conclusion you like the game, definitely try a guide for your next build, but keep up this great series and it's great to see you sticking to your convictions. also, as someone that has thousands of hours in the game I'll say it does not tutorialize or teach well at all. many things are unintuitive and unexplained by the game, it expects you to figure out on your own or use outside resources. i don't think that's inherently a failing, but it is a thing to be aware of. welcome to the game exile, hope you end up being one of us.

Watching other people build doesn't mean you have to follow their build, I think at least it will help you to understand more about this game, the more you understand it, the more way for you to create your own build. All the gems that NPC selling is based on your class, that's why spell gem doesn't appear much, which is the blue gem

Nice video again, i had a good time. If you don't want to follow a guide and need some help, here are some tips that might help you go through the campain, without spoilers. • Skill gems tags (below the name) can be used to anticipate gem interactions and know if a skill will be affected by your build modifiers (from your passive tree, equipement, ... and more). • Defense in the campaign is all about : life, high damage, capped elemental resistances, and eventually some armour. • Pay attention to the wording of multipliers while building you character. "increased" and "reduced" multipliers are additive whereas "more" and "less" are multiplicative. For instance two "50% increased damage" adds up to "100% increased damage" while two "50% more damage" multiplies as in ...*1.5*1.5=...*2.25 which is 125% increased damage. Most support gems are multiplicative, look for the ones that boost your damage. • To deal more damage efficiently, improve all parts of it. For instance in a classic "hit" build : raw damage, speed, crit multi, crit damage, "increased damage" mods, "more damage" mods. If your damage comes from more complicated mechanics, there are many many ways to make the numbers go higher ! duration, area of effect, projectile, conversion ... It depends on the skill you are using and its tags. • You might want to look at the wiki at some point, there is a lot of knowledge necessary to get better at the game. Have fun

There is a "pass" system but it tracks endgame progression, also it can't currently be purchased directly. All you'll ever get out of spending money are MTX anyway (something, something, stash tabs). The best point of entry are supporter packs (starting at 30 USD). But really the only thing you owe the devs is to check out next leagues anouncement trailer wich coincidentally releases next week on Friday. New supporter packs will be available then too. Seriously though, watch next weeks trailer with us. It also might help you differentiate between additional league mechanics and the core gameplay. And on your note about builds: It's absolutely fine to play without a build guide. Especially on a very first play through. But you will hit a wall and you will hit it hard. The trick then is to not be discouraged by it. I get your spreadsheet analogy and I think it's true only partially. In PoE it isn't easy to "have a build in mind" when you don't know what the potential next steps even are. You have to have seen multiple skills, numerous supports and their interactions in action to make an informed decision. Being surprised by "Vile Toxins" or the limited respec system is not a thing you want to do. A build guide will alleviate that and make your playthrough a lot more enjoyable.

In all honesty, you're actually doing amazing for a first time player. My first time playing, I came from D3 and completely ignored survivability outside of mobility skills like blink, as well as I had all of the damage spells I could slot with only one or maybe two support gems per spell. Think I was literally trying to use 5 at the same time. You're doing well picking a skill or two and just working on buffing them up, then investing the rest in survivability, auras, etc. Not really a trying to give a guide plug since I absolutely respect the blind aspect and wanting to come up with your own stuff, but I will say this is absolutely the right path to take so keep it up! I think most of my characters/builds these days revolve around a single damage skill, some way of debuffing, then the rest survivability.

Hello exile! I come to bring you some basic tips. 1. Press "z" to turn on the name of things, it turns on and off the name of npcs, items on the map, portals, etc... 2. In Options > UI > Items, turn on the option "always show sockets", it shows the gems and sockets in the items without having to hover over them. 3. The recipes you unlock through the maps can be used at the crafting table in your hideout. 4. In Act 3 and Act 6 there are side quests that unlock a special NPC that sells only gems, in act 3 it is only the gems from act 3 downwards, but in act 6 it is all the normal gems in the game. In act 3 he is on the top left map called The Library. 5. Stay safe exile. 😁

Something I highly, highly suggest, and I can't state this enough, before you start Act 5 you need to do the Labyrinth. It will really open up your class for you. I know you're just hammering through the main quest and waiting to do side content, but the labyrinth is not side content. It is core to your class and opens the game wide open.

A few things you could try out that helped me in the beginning: - You can stack heralds. There are 4 heralds in your colors (red and green) that you can try, and you can run 3 of those without investing into mana reservation. Those usually have more of an effect than auras in a self-made beginner build. That's because they are cheap in reservation and directly add damage and features to the attack. - Keep your main attack skill clean. It is tempting to use a trigger gem (like cast on crit) and a spell there, but unless you are very optimized for exactly this, it doesn't do much. It is better to just add supports that make that skill stronger. Those links on your main attack are very valuable. - For your golem, there are two routes in this build: 1. You can self cast a high-level golem. That gives you a tanky minion but he will die quite often and is tedious to maintain. 2. You can use a low level golem and a cast on damage taken support. You have to match the level of both gems so that they can trigger and keep them low so that the cast on damage taken triggers often enough. If this is set up correctly, it will autocast your golem and you will have him up most of the time without needing to care about it. This setup is mainly used to get the buff from the golem, not its tanking or fighting power (which usually don't matter much, unless you specialize in golems). You will probably get to a point where you are soflocked or even hardlocked with your build. But as someone who makes his own builds every season I can say: That's part of the game. You learn from your mistakes and make a better build next season. In my first runs I got a little further with every build, but I think the first one got me stuck around the middle of nightmare (poe had 3 repeats in the beginning, normal, cruel and nightmare), which should be roughly act 7 or 8 now. You will definitly get stuck in maps, because you only have limited "lives"/portals there. But I have my fingers crossed that you will beat the campaign, that would be a big achivement for a first run without reading guides.

A few cool things you've missed : 1. If you want to go for a poison build like you're doing, it's most important to get as much poison chance as possible, as reaching 100% is important for your dmg output (herald of agony gives you a bit but not enough, there's a poison chance as well as a good bit on the passive tree). (caustic arrow also scales poorly with poison because poison can only be applied by a hit, but caustic arrow's dmg is mainly in the pool on the ground which does not count as poison but as chaos Dot... And poison Dot is a chaos type dmg but it's not chaos DOT. Yes it's weird, point is, only your arrows can inflict poison and they're not great at it cause the dmg of the dot is based on the dmg of the hit itself, which, on caustic arrow is really bad) 2. There is a search fonction on the passive tree, either hit ctrl+f or just click on the bar at the top of the screen, makes it much easier to search for health or dmg this way. (the same search bar exists in traders, so you can search for bow gems and the such). 3. You can always pick stuff up to sell and you can then use the currency you gain for other stuff. One of the things that people wanted to tell you about the quicksilver flask, is that you can make your flask magic rarity by applying and orb of transmutation and augmentation to have 2-mod flasks which can sometimes be much much stronger than without these mods.

others have mentioned it before in act 3 that Plynth is very important. but i think you need a little information on quests on the right side of the screen. the major importance is Green Quests. they are Cruical quests to complete however being tottally optional. kinda like chain quest or you met all requirements to do, the Plynth one in particular is Absolutely Cruical for even completing all the acts. i did my best to explain everything without spoiling anything. but a piece of advice on the green quest a reward; be careful on what you choose as it is very expensive to fix your choice later. some are side quests, that majority are mainstorylines. the event's like Salphite, Beasts and future ones will be in a differnt colour and only local to that instance of map. they not all but most give you Master Exp / currency, which is used to buy Decorations for your hideout and customise it.

I can really feel the love of the Path of Exile community shining through here down in the comments. Wishing to aid him in a game we've all come to enjoy. My contribution to helping Mr. Vellum would be to use the search functions. Like in the Passive skill tree, just search "life", "Projectile", "Intelligence", "Bow" or "Poison". Or when you want to find gems at a vendor. Still, use search function. Type in "Support", "AoE", "Armor" or "Projectile". Lastly I would just like to add the fact that you can acually see what gems are Attack/Spell gems and whitch are Support Gems by just a glance. Every single support gem in the game is a round circle shape (with fancy gold-fluff). Every Attack/Skill gem is an oval shape tilted to the right (with fancy gold-fluff). Your character also isn't inherently opposed to using blue gems. You just need to increase it by either finding gear with Intelligence or All Attributes, or picking up a node in the passive skill tree. I hope you find this information helpful and I will patiently await your next video.

WITHOUT ANY SPOILERS: The most important for a newbie (even the game isnt clarify this) is the different colors of the quests: -The Yellowish Quest are your main quests, -The Blue ones are the "non necessary" side quests... (about 70% of this give you bonus Skill points, or Refund points) Sooner or later its worth to do them all (before you finish the last act). -Then there is the Orange-ish questlines which are the side quests for the late game mechanics, like you faced the Mine in Act 4, there will be much more fun into the later stages (no spoilers...). -But the most important questline imo is the Green one, the Trials of the Ascendancy... this is the most gamechanging point for a new character. Some quick tips for you to enjoy that part... (I mean the trials) - It's a hard questline at first, don't be sad if you fail in the first runs... I get carried away by one of my friends first, but my first alone try I finished it in the 4th try around... - you need at least around 1-1.3k life to be a bit less stressful with good resistances (around 50% is fine, but later you need to max out theese, except the chaos res - it gives you the most sustain for your lifepool) LITTLE SPOILER, but really helps: I don't wanna kill the questline for the first time, so just the very first Hint, you prolly missed, or bad interpretation of the game: Go to Act III, and check the greenish statue at the top of the stairs in the middle of the city... It gives you 6 place where you need to do things before you can start this questline.

I do agree that finding your own skill and theorycrafting it is the most fun you can have with these types of games, so i would suggest it that you use the search bars on the passive tree and gem store to make it easier to find what you might want. For the gems you can read the keywords it states and use them on the search like "bow" or "projectile" and for the passive tree you can search "health" or "bow"/"poison".

When looking at skills, items, etc there's a search function. You can look for anything. For example, if you type in "support" you can filter the gems to highlight anything considered a support gem. In addition, mousing over the gem will give a little box on the top left which shows all currently equipped gems it can legitimately support. Just FYI in case you don't know.

Hello fellow exile. first of all, i'd like to say great job with this saga. Im really enjoying watching ur first playthrough in this great game we all love. I would like to give some quality of life tips, without spoiling too much. Hope u dont mind and it helps to make ur experience more enjoyable. 1) Attributes: This are 99% about being able to equip gear and gems. The last 1% is about some builds called "attribute stackers" which ara a fairly endgame complex types of build, so dont worry about stacking Dex just 'cause u'are a ranger. Go for attributes that u need to equip the stuff u want. 2) the "UI" options people are talking about are a big tip too. Like pressing "Z" so it always show stuff, so u dont miss crafting recipes/levers/doors/portals/strongboxes, and loot. Since its kinda unrealistc to keep pressing alt every 2 seconds, since u kinda always killing stuff and reaching new areas. Still in the UI section, there are stuff like healt/mana bars above ur chars to make it easier to see when u running out of life and mana. There's also one for always show sockets on items, so u dont have to always hover over items to see how many and which colors do u have available. The map overlay stuff is also worth looking at, such as landscape (i put it in minimum to avoid cluttering the screen), transparency and zoom. Also, PLEASE remove basic attack from left click lmao. It actually hurt u keeping that 'cause its possible that when ur trying to just move out way / dodge stuff, if theres a monster, u will attack it instead of move. So u can click on the UI and there will be a option for "move only", or u can put some defensive gem there, so every time u click to move, it'll automatically activate a defensive skill (common options are steelsking and molten shell). Plus, if u are out of mana, it'll automatically use basic attack if u trying to use a skill. 3) About Microtransaction: What i recommend is, buy whichever supporter pack u like, but save ur coins for stash tab sales (these happens quite often, usually every 2 weeks). In my humble opinion, currency and map stash are the mandatory ones, everything else is up to you. My recommendation, in order is: Currency -> Map -> Fragment -> Divination -> Essence / Blight / Uniques (uniques are kinda of a pain in the ass to manage, but the stash tab is kinda expensive, so its really up to you) -> Metamorph / Delirium / Delve / Flask / Gems (these i fell take less space and are very skippable) 4) Labyrinth: since u are past act 4, you should backtrack a little and make sure to complete your aspirant trial (npc in act 3). This may be a bit of spoiler, but you are supposed to do those at around level 33, and has a huge impact in your gameplay, so i felt like i should tip this. The location of the trials to unlock the first labyrinth are are as follow: The lower prison -> The crypt level 1 -> The chamber of sins level 2 -> The Crematorium -> The catacombs -> The imperial gardens 5) Build and Gems: Check your "gems tags" to make sure what exactly scale your build. Such as projectiles, chaos, attack, aoe, duration and bow for caustic arrow. Keep in mind that any "attack" type skill, needs accuracy (spell type gems dont have this problem). Also, u definitely need a "movement" type skill lol. The most commons are flame dash and frost blink. Another thing, very important side quest is in act 6, a quest given to you by lily where u need to kill all monsters in a area, after that, she will sell "all" gems. This way u will be able to go nuts and create a very interesting build (im looking foward to see what crazy thing you will do lol) 6) Filter: im aware the blind run includes minimum if not zero out side stuff, but u should really look into filter. Is as simple as login the Path of exile official website, and click "follow" on the neversink filter. Follow the regular, semi strict and strict and u are good to go until pinacle bosses). Just google it: Neversink filter -> click the official poe web site link, login, and follow the filter. Next time u login the game, filter is in the game options. Sorry for long post here's a potato (insert potato image)

On spending money: There is "Kirac's Vault Pass", but you need to complete the Atlas to get the rewards (first part of endgame, would take you longer than the campaign). You could also take a look at the current supporter packs "Shade" and "Disciple"; each comes in 3 tiers. If you think you might want to play more at some point, you want stash tabs. The most efficient way to get some is the "First Blood Starter Pack", which you can only get once and has the best points-per-dollar value. Then wait for a stash tab sale (they happen about every 3rd weekend) and get at least a currency tab, a map tab, a premium tab for trading and a quad tab for general storage.

Hi, I recommend buying the CURRENCIES Stash tab, and specialized stash tabs after. Huge quality of life and not that pricy

I like that by Act 4 you have available some really powerful support gems available. It feels like a turning point in build progression and really starts to come into its own.

Honestly, watching you play: the game does an excellent job visually guiding new players around boss/map/content mechanics. Where it struggles is providing a good foundational knowledge of character building, but that seems as much intentional as plainly harder to properly explain without outside resources. As for whether you're 'stubborn' around avoiding guides: with your personality, I absolutely wouldn't recommend switching into a build guide just yet. The kind of learning experience you have comes once at the beginning and only picks up again once you're well past knowledgeable. Although with how guides are structured, they usually stay very free form, which makes them excellent learning resources once you have a grasp on the fundamentals. So, in essence, just keep going as you are, for as long as you're having fun. That experience comes only once, and I'd rather occasionally froth at the mouth trying to help you rather than take your joy away by explaining as much as I can.

The primary way to support the devs is through purchasing supporter packs, which rotate every league (roughly 3-4 months). You can also buy core supporter packs if you're feeling especially generous. A battle pass does exist, but you can't get it until you reach endgame and completing it requires endgame progression so you'll have to finish the campaign before you can do anything with that. You stash is shared between all your characters in the same league, all those items that aren't good for the character you're currently playing could potentially be something good for another character you might choose to play. You could also sell them to other players. Rolling new characters is generally preferred over trying to fully respec an existing one, unless you only need to make small adjustments. You don't need to follow a build guide, you just need to learn some very basic foundations- how much health you should have (lots more), how much resistance you need (all of it), how to unlock your ascendancy class (go back to act 3), etc.

The Voltaxic Sulphite quests are similar to the Beastiary quests- they’ll randomly appear once you unlock them and they provide materials for their own mechanic. There are 5 “masters” you’ll meet through the campaign, with Einhar (beastiary) and Niko (Delve) being the two you’ve encountered so far. You’ll encounter two others before the end of the campaign, and the final one introduces you to the post-game content. They’re a lot of fun, and they basically took the most beloved league mechanics and turned them into content for the main game. They’re complex enough to be fun and different ways to play, without being so complex that they’re basically a different game entirely (like the current league mechanic, the one with the silver coins)

There is a battlepass that starts once you reach endgame. But if you see yourself playing the game p to endgame, I'd just recommend getting the first blood pack for ~20$. It gives you the same amount of points as the pure point package of the same cost as well as a free stash tab and an effect. This is more than enough to buy what you would need for long term play. Then the smart thing to do would be to wait for a stash tab sale, you've already given the devs your cash. But what you want to do is look at the specialized stash tabs, you definetly want the currency stash tab, at least one premium stash tab if you want to do any trading and the map stash tab for the end game. All other stash tabs are just convenience upgrades, used for specific mechanics that you like. But you can easily just use more regular/premium stash tabs or get some cool looking micro transactions.

A word on build guides. The really good build guides explain the mechanics used in the build. They teach you how the game works and you will gain enough knowledge to improvise on the build and eventually to build your own. What you are attempting to do right now is like walking into and auto parts store and attempting to build a car without ever opening the hood of a working car. This is not to say that you can't get to the end of the campaign without one. I suggest you struggle through and do that, but if you decide to continue with the game definitely use a guide for the next character.

Love your commentary and editing in these, very entertaining! I'll throw in 1 quick tip I'm sure others have mentioned, but maybe not: The search bar in the skil tree & vendors is very useful. ie searching "support" in the gem tab highlights all gems that have the support tag. The same goes for keywords in the skill tree like "Life", "Chaos", "over time" etc. Good luck Exile! Also I totally understand you not wanting to follow a guide. You can only play this for the first time once. And watching you figure things out reminds me of my first characters. It's awesome. You do you.

Quest items Are always Colored with green as you saw from the beginning in act 1. Also “tab” for map to get bigger There are loot filters you can add to the game most people use “neversink” There is a search mechanic on everything even the passive tree so if you need life you can search for it in the top right search bar When you go into an area it starts a 15 minute timer for that instance and when it reaches 0 seconds it deletes the instance unless your in it. That’s why when you leave an area you might have been in for 30 minutes and go back using the teleporter and not a portal from the scroll your map will get wiped As a fellow kinda new player to poe I quite enjoy this series since you have all the same questions as me and figure them out in some of the same ways.

This video series has been valuable to me as I progress through the storyline. I've done surprisingly well so far, and I feel somewhat over-powered for the mobs and monsters I face. No, I am not going to cripple my build to even it up - I'm glad I clear screens easily and there's not much that can even touch my life reserves. Between auras, the resistances I've already got up near 75%, and a 'caustic arrow' that has been augmented with the mirage archer, extra chaos damage, and extra arrows, I am very powerful. I have not completed the labrynth to get my ascendency (and I'm chuffed it resets every 24 hours), so that is my next 'must have' before I progress to Act IV. I've tried and failed twice so far. I've gone a slightly different route with the passive skill points, but it's working well. I do have a question for a larger audience - where/how do I get a gem that I can place in the passive skill tree?

Love this series. Only thing I'll mention is that Golems are typically best used as a passive buff, if you're "wasting" a socket to use Cast on Crit, you want the spell that it's casting to actually do good damage. Otherwise it's probably more effective to just use supports that straight up increase your skills damage. Caustic arrow is probably your strongest contender right now, but it's also important to know that only the initial arrow strike can poison the enemy, the toxic pool it leaves on the ground just does "chaos damage over time" but it is NOT poison, as confusing as that sounds. The game was initially only 3 acts, with 3 difficulties to replay those. That's why act4 seems much higher quality because it was added later.

Regarding your mana issues you experienced, what you need to watch out for is "reservation" Some of the strongest skills in the game don't have a mana cost because they're always in effect, but instead "reserve" part of your mana, greying out the mana bar from the top down and making it unavailable to you and lowering your effective maximum mana. (You also need to re-activate these skills when you die). Herald of Agony reserves a flat 25% of mana at all levels, and Vitality reserves a specific amount of mana depending on level. Some auras are extremely powerful and reserve 50% of mana! There are passive nodes that reduce the amount reserved. The passive tree has a search bar so you can look for specific nodes. Keep up the good work!

I remembet the first time i fought the Act 4 final boss; it was one of the newest things when i started the game. I was playing a Ranger very similar to yours and must have died a dozen or so times, but stayed alive a little longer every time and it was so satisfying.

Hi NyxVellum, really enjoying this series a lot! I have 1000 hours of PoE under the belt and I am seeing it like you: I do not like playing premade builds, but figuring my own way and playing whatever the heck I feel is cool and fun. This comes with some downsides, though: 1) it takes much longer to understand interactions and mechanics. 2) you are never smarter than the internet. Which means that the stuff you come up with can not easily compete with the top builds of the current meta and as such will probably not be viable for the highest tier endgame. But that never stopped me from having fun. Now some pointers from someone who enjoys the game in the same way you do: 1) Defense is super important. Keep your RESISTANCES always MAXED OUT (75) and try to stack various defense mechanics: in your case try to push your EVASION + HEALTH and maybe get LIFELEECH as a starter. 2) Gems: Lern the difference between ACTIVE SKILL GEMs (those that give you a new skill or action) and SUPPORT SKILL GEMs (support skill gems modify an active skill gem). Btw: You can modify the number of gem slots, the color and the links between gem slots with currency. 3) Get a MOVEMENT SKILL GEM to instantly reposition yourself. This is important for boss fights to survive. 4) To support GGG you could buy a STARTER PACK and use points to get STASH TABs asap! They are on sale most of the time!

I don't know if someone already told you, but you can press CTRL to use a secondary skill bar. Put in there your auras and less important skills. Also in Act 3 you have a optional quest that you can do in "Library". It will unlock a NPC that have almost every gem to sell.

Awesome playthrough man! Your definitely getting it. If there was one tip id give you above all else is to just have fun and maybe download a "filterblade" lowest of the low loot filter. The standard one from game is criminally bad. Since theres so much stuff it will just do its job of highlighting good stuff. It's a quality of life like no other homie. Good luck on your journey. 😊

I love that you are doing it blind, that is how I did it too. One thing that may or may not help you is mindset. It kind of helps understand this games play cycle if you think of it less like straight Diablo and more like an ARPG that is also a Roguelike. The game has points that will break you as you push if the build you are setting up / working through isn't good enough or well designed enough. The stash is universal and there is no bound to character so you can stash gear away to effect your next attempt and learn from what happened when you try the next build/char and see how much farther you can push it until you design a build that can take on all the content of the game (this is actually very difficult if you are playing the game as it was meant to be played instead of just following a guide). SO, while it can be frustrating to hit those break points and have to start over / pay for a respec, the payoff it gives you when you succeed at each goal post through nothing but your own designs and stratagems is.... exhilarating. Just my two cents
