While having a highly specialized build will result in higher damage and easier play for that specific build (in any class tbh), I tend to find myself playing based on my mood rather than my build. For that reason, I'm heavy into minions like you are, but instead of using thorns, decompose and bone prison, I went with having sever, bone shield & barrier (CE is mandatory on any build). This allows me to play the caster in the back and heal my minions or, if I'm feeling frisky, I can double the bone shield damage by standing next to the golem and fighting in the middle of the mobs. Key passive I'm using is Shadowblight, which pairs extremely well with my Black River scythe and the darkness damage from both Sever and CE. Paragon board is straight forward and I suspect almost identical to what yours will be: Cult Leader (Deadraiser), Hulking (Control) and Wither (Warriors) - the first board has Mages though. My only real gripe about minions / companions in general is the fact that they require being slotted on the quickbar and do not have their own. It's almost as if Blizzard thinks that it is too difficult to hold a trigger button and press one of the buttons on a controller.

Ive tried every minion necro build i could find and sadly they just dont work well in T4... Im only lvl 69 on my necro but i dont think i can run minions to much longer. They really badly need a huge buff. Still good build tho... But NMD 40-50 r where builds r truly tested or atleast should be.

Razorplate and Temerity may work in lower tiers no problem but for higher tiers if you use them (both or even with only one of them) you will be sacrificing too much defense (4 defensive affixes and 1 defensive aspect from each). I haven't seen a legit necro thorn build that works well in high tier dungeons, and hope someone can figure it out. Meanwhile since you have the ring already, you may try my builds (I have two slightly different minion builds that uses this ring). They clear T70+ comfotably.

Patrick my minion build does excellent but is slightly squishy as I don't have many items that has barrier or dmg reduction but they delete elites and any boss really and I use thorn and iron maiden set up but decriptfiy is really good as well

The problem with every end game build for every class is that they're dependent on uniques, and there's no way to target farm uniques. The way that loot works in this game is a big step back from Diablo 3, and just makes it so that if you get good drop luck you can catapult through end game and if you don't, you can plod.

Try getting rid of Corpse explosion and add Corpse Tendrils. Then instead of Decompose, try Bonespear. Keep the Vulnerable procs constantly going and things will likely die a lot faster

This. The vulnerable damage scales to 100% to your minions - not only 30%. But the corpse explosion is not bad because you can avoid Kalans Edict

I have a level 84 bone spear necro and a level 81 minion necro. Still no ring on either, so basically my spear necro does probably twice the damage as my minion slow build. It's like they made a lot of these rings drop for the content creators to bait people in, then it never drops. The other rare thing is the Exposed Flesh aspect. I seen two of those though, but zero rings.

Imagine this build with the current Malignant hearths which pop corpses under you and curse the enemies around you. I'm using almost the sam,e build but still haven't found any of the uniques. I'm only lvl 52. And instead of decrepify, i use Iron maiden since decrepify is spawning always under my feet when i'm surrounded by 4 enemies because of the Necro malignant hearth. But i'm not sure if it wouldn't be better to still use decrep. as a castable skill to be able to reach further.

Its a good SP build, very difficult for the last 10 tiers, and struggles on bosses. Also struggles to get kills in MP where everyone just runs 1 shotting stuff. I also had problems with blockers but not as much as the bone spear necro.

wouldnt the Deadraiser glyph be the best choice for the socket for Cult Leader board? would allow for additional % bonuses to all the paragon buffs for each of those nodes near the socket, even more so in the future at level 15. i personally would use gravekeeper for your second board, deadraiser is just too good to pass up to not use in that spot. for your first socket node, its a toss up for me.

So I actually use a build based around heavy health regeneration, bone spear and vuln, I ramped up minion damage and it does great. I tried to make a thorns build but it was not good at all and i wasted time and tons of resources. I did not know 2 things.... That the thorns unique chests exsists or that minions get my barrier.... I am at a loss for words and already can see a modified version of this build in my head that would be absolutely insane.... Sad thing is a got rid of temerity and i do not have that ring or chest... I NEVER!!! get unique drops sadly so lets be hopeful

The problem is the powerlevel difference between some of the builds, I love summoner style and theres a bonespear/summoner build that is most likely able to kill uber lillith, but the problem is that only uses pets as resource generators/dmg soakers, they dont really contribute a lot of damage and its gonna stay that way until pets can do similar dmg to bonespear and if they nerf bonespear necro is a dead class on its own on content that is pushing the boundries(NM70+) This all assuming current best specs tuning isnt out of whack. Also I noticed summoner builds require a lot if specific legendaries to shine, meanwhile bonespear is up and running without their 2 best ones as soon as you get a hold of the codex of power

Summons feels underpowered atm and most likely are, but its hard to gauge because Bonespear and some of the other meta builds currently might just be very out of whack with what blizzards dev team wants to consider "Normal"

Warning for anyone watching this: DO NOT use a 1H + Shield if you do not have that Unique ring! Use a 2H Scythe until you get the ring because your minions will get a boost from the high dmg. Normally You'd use a 2H sword but minions do NOT use your attack speed, so you want a Scythe with high dmg (not DPS, DAMAGE). Once you get the unique Ring, then you can use a 1H + Shield... A 1H + Shield does not work without the ring procs (remember that thorns can cause Lucky Hit procs). A lot of testing was done with weapons and without that unique ring, you need to run a 2H Scythe. PS: The ring does not give you 10% increase when it procs, the way Lucky Hit works it gives you 10% of your proc rate. For example if your Lucky Hit Chance is 50%, it means you will proc a Lucky hit 1/2 of the time. BUT, the RING will only proc 10% of 1/2, which is 5% overall, not 10% overall because 10% of 50% is 5%. The only way the ring would proc 10% of the time is if your character had a 100% Lucky Hit Chance. 10% of 100% is 10%.

The one thing that would fix minions is give them 90% damage reduction from enchantments. They already do this in WoW with the hunter pets and Warlock demons taking 90% less damage from AoE because they can't fucking avoid it.

I run 11 skellys with all gear points to them. Survival..speed.. life.. revive.. and then i have chill on mutiple pieces. This allows passive/slow/damage every 10 seconds.. freezing everything along with my blood novas and minos just poping off.

I've tried everything since level 70 on a pet summoning build. Just doesn't work. Pets die way too fast and spending the bulk of my time rezzing them (only for them to die by 1 elite again) isn't fun. Puddle build with sacc'd pets is waaaaay better and waaaaay more fun. I hate it though. I wanted a puddle build to compliment pets. Just doesn't work. They need to go back and not nerf pets so hard.

The problem with every minion build video I watch is they just show dungeons that cater to the build. lack of minion control is why the build isn’t viable. you get into certain circumstances and every pet is fighting a different mob, complete split dps and it’s frustrating and annoying. They need to fix it. You can grasp 80% of the room and they still off attacking some random mob. How about the minions by default attack targets in my general direction. Hell half the time there off the screen doing whatever they want. I left it for a sacrifice bone spear build and won’t look back. It’s sad. This class is made to have pets and the pets suck unless you got mendeln ring and a million paragon points.

ghastly bone prison have the bug that 100% lucky hit chance against enemy inside. 100% lucky hit chance + ring of mendeln aspect why summoner build works. it's sad summoner build only viable when exploit bug. the guy cleared NM100 with summons had maximized this bug with mendeln.

I think the thorn part won't scale very well as you progress. Tried it a lot. I focus on lucky hit chance with mendeln and the thorn on the ring is enough to proc lucky hit

Also Storm is a better place to put points, prison is better replaced with vines. Then you build around VULN dmg primarily, and once you get the ring you need Lucky Hit Chance... the only reason your build works is of course the unique ring. Unfortunately the majority of players never see the ring and you can't play a 100% minion build until you get it. Seems fine up until the low 70s, but then it quickly falls off making it a joke. My 84 bone spear necro does at least twice the damage than my 81 minion build --- why? No unique ring. Plus obviously at level 84 I have a ton of paragon points, but that won't help either. There is no magic that makes minion builds, it is ALL based on that ring. Remove that ring and tell me how the T30 plus nightmare attempts go.

This is the exact build I've been running. Except I sacrificed my golem for the extra crit damage to run bone storm. Needing a few aspects still but once I have them I'll be set for a while 👌 I run the reapers for now until I get what's needed then I'll be switching to the other minions. The skeleton mages are pretty damn solid when you run the cold mages.

Makes me lul, i played minion master before but it's not good compared to the other builds ... i mean i oneshot enemies with my bonespear build and run through a dungeon then i see you with the minion build staying static and waiting for minions to kill stuff... minion build is viable and you can clear dungeons with it but other builds like bone spear are 10 times faster

my bonespear build is infinitly better because i crit all the time. 40+ crit chance, 600% crit damage +30 crit chance from corpse tendrils, 20% crit chance from bone storm.. i do 200+- over 3+Milion all the time. i just did a sigil 52 solo... they all die like flies

This is decent for beginners but this isnt viable for end game really. Any necro minion build just doesnt work. You either have to run 1 specific build or just dont play end game fully. If they dont give necro a massive buff theyll continue to be bottom tier for the rest of diablos lifespan
