Diablo II LOD Voice Of Reason Conviction/Zeal Paladin

Diablo II Lord Of Destruction 1.12 gameplay showing a Paladin with Conviction as His main aura and Zeal as his main attack using a Voice Of Reason (Lem-Ko-El-Eld) runeword in a Phase Blade to fight along some maps in Hell act I, II and III.
This is a "poor man" version of the build called "Rifter". In both cases the main offensive power is provided not by the damage of the weapon itself, but because the feature of spanning random Frozen Orbs and Ice Blast from the swings. The conviction aura decreases both the defensive values of your foes making easier to hit and the elemental resistences, increasing in a big way the damage casted by the Orbs, besides the max reduction is topped at -150 (Conviction level 25, this one is at level 23 which means -140) and the max resistences to cold in some monsters are up to +180 (which means that still are cold inmmune). Rift runeword is more poserfull, but a lot more expensive can't be build in a indestructible weapon, which means annoying and costly repairs.
To surpass this problem is good to have a swich weapon with high no-cold elemental damage or magical damage, as Crescent Moon runeword or the elite unique scourge Stormlash or the elite unique sword Azurewrath.
The character is currently at level 80 with 20 skill points in Conviction and Holy shield, He has also 20 skill points in Sacrifice, to increase a bit the physical damage in order to increase the life and mana leech, and 16 saved skill points. The main weak point is that this is not able to drain life in the same amount as a Zeal/Fanaticism build, which means that you will need to use potions or items that cast Life Tap curse (as Dracul's gloves) when the things go wrong.
The main gear used is very modest: armor, boots and amulet from "The Disciple" set, the unique String of Ears belt, a shield socketed with 4 perfect diamonds, a 20 IAS gloves, Harlequin Crest unique helm, rings for mana & life leech +resistence charms.

Not in the current 1.2 patch, but the incoming 1.3 version will give you the chance of reset your skill and stat points in the Den Of Devil quest.

@nasiayamsususoya You need to build a "caster weapon" as the runewords "Voice Of Reason" "Rift", "Destruction", "Phoenix" or "Chaos", to name a few of them. Those are weapons that when you swing and/or hit a target with a mele attack gets a chance (%) of casting spells as Frozen Orb (the ice shards you see in the clip) and others.

@andrey91pireu You didn't understand how this build works. The purpose of Zeal combined with Conviction and Voice Of Reason ISN'T to deliver big elemental attacks with your weapon hits (otherwise, VoR is a mediocre weapon doing physical dmg in order to multiply x3 with Vengeance), the pupose is TO CAST ELEMENTAL SPELLS, as FAST as WERE POSSIBLE. Isn't Zeal what is killing most of the foes, but the casted Frozen Orbs. Currently I use also a Torch, and with the Firestorm is even more powerful.

some weapons have X% chance to cast a random skill like lvl 30 frozen orb on striking. That was an example it can be any skill

I don't think so; of course the Conviction aura will negate the one from Mephisto, but that aside the uber builds usually involves using life tap and some kind of unblockable source of physical damage (the reason behind the proficience of smiters againts ubers) and this is a build with arguably low physical damage but a fast attcaks (which doesn't always hits) and decent damage.

Is true that's more powerful, and has more survivability, but define "better". I already have a classical fanat + zeal Pally, I did this other build due is fun and different. Also, could be argued tat a Hammerdin is also "better" than fanat + zeal, and a Smiter is also "better" than F + Z in PvP. I did try all those, is just about having fun in the game :)

work well but you need insane mana leech because vengeance deal elemental damage so the leech doesnt work well.

can i fix a caracter whit jamila...editor and play u and me.?i had a sorrceres whit 873000 damage per second and my other caracter a barbarian not even notice that dmg.....i didn`t take it not 1 from life

dude if you like fanatacisim use VENGANCE for attack cus it has elemental damage if you use zeal use FANATACISM aura you do it wrong

Lol only 1 thing wrong with this build, attack rating. In pvp this build with the items, its not very effective but for pve its decent but could still use a bit of tinkering.
