I was running solo, so I had to rely on my own characters, and Rhyme is easy to build. Some other form of Cannot Be Frozen wasn't happening so I settled with the shield because it has some good attributes. This character may be on nonladder, but I might look into advancing her to face Diablo or even Baal sometime in the future .

Modighen I had a good Phoenix character with double weapons. Weapon parry isn't to underestimate, and the double attack finisher is great with life steal. I too was running solo, but I used mainly the meteor and the ice burst against bosses. You choose lightning. Is that efficient?

WexMajor82 I think it's a matter of preference. I didn't put more in cold damage because I find the duration of the slowdown to be a bit too short in Hell and I have to build up three charges. In the case of the video, Duriel is more resistant to cold than other bosses, but I'll stress I think it's a matter of preference.

Anything can work with the proper gear, as of right now you should probably respec into traps until you can afford to get the gear for a mats sin. You need to go rather duel blades or use a phoenix shield, which can get kinda pricey depending on what realm you are playing

Brian Chapman That's interesting. Seeing as lightning has the most dps, wouldn't I need a hireling with an infinity polearm, which is just about as pricey? I can't see death sentry being good enough on its own, and I wouldn't have much to invest into other skills. Still, your advice is welcome as it's something I can work with.

For the end gear you will need a infinity for sure. But when you kill enough mobs the corpse explosion will take care of the rest. Traps will give you an easier time for mfing. Every season I start out with a trap sin to work my way up. If you are on west I can help you with some gear to get you going

Brian Chapman There's plenty of videos up of people playing with those kinds of characters, killing Ubers in two minutes. I'd rather not use a gear list from D2JSP "build guide."

To each their own. A sin that does ubers is a kick sin though, so if that's your goal to build towards make sure you have it maxed

I was checking some articles and they say that you can bring more points to resistances and then that would excuse less life points which you can use for some dexterity. I see, maybe it depends also the types of builds, I got the mana to 35 and then 5 points I spend 3 on Dex, Str and Vit, the remaining 2 I use them both on Vit and Dex, every few levels I pump the remaining 2 on Str I found a claw weapon on nightmare with 900 + attack rating and I think it makes a little difference. I focused more on the rating than the damage

the necro with summons stomps everything with mediocre gear.

A summoner necro is the first character I run when ladder resets, and I couldn't agree more as I've shredded Hell Ancients untwinked every ladder I've played. I happened to find some assassin gear and thought I'd see for myself what was the fuss about the Phoenix. She's playable, but I have to be in a mood for that playstyle.

There is a reason that the necro is so good, it's an actual development strategy to have a certain type of character be really easy to use and get more powerful as a good way of letting newbies get used to the game and still feel powerful without being totally squashed by high level players. Of course it's also fun for pros too but it basically breaks the ice for newer players and let's them get a taste of being powerful.

Treachery would have been better, I guess. I wasn't being picky at the time. Although If I had Duress, I could have used other claws as my crushing and open wounds would have been more than adequate.

Why haven't you spent more points on dexterity, is it not better to have some more also on dexterity to support the attack strength and the defense, because no matter how much lifepoints you have if the defense is weak ? just my own opinion

It's all good. This is the kind of feedback I can use. I found that defense in Hell, unless it's backed up with a massive Defiance aura doesn't make me much more difficult to hit. I never got used to blocking as I wound up addicted to Frenzy Barbarians and learned to cope without blocking, but if there are going to be melee characters for future videos, I'll certainly give that a try.

i think you do your bulid wrong. the grears are very good but you should up the talon kick to 20 at least and the shadow master to 15.

Karlos Torres I thought that he had too much life to die from self-inflicted injury and by hell, my summoner just has to wait him out because my minions are powerful enough and single points in curses are good enough. I think I'll try it out because I've never used respec. Still, I wanted to try out the Phoenix because there was a fair bit of "Phoenix sin sux" going around and I wanted to see for myself.

Braxium All Rhyme requires is Shael and Eth, and I have Cannot be Frozen (good in situations other than Duriel, but I digress) and +25 to my resistances. Since I didn't find a Raven Frost or some other CBF item, I settled for the shield. I was not aiming for a perfect character as I find trading to be more tiring than following a Baalbot.

well I easily found many halves frz dur rings playing normally, they would do fine, i don't have cbf gear on my character, but killed baal and his minions in hell easily.

Braxium My experience differs. Simply having half the duration means that melee characters go from being chilled for 10 seconds to five seconds which means that most of my foes can still treat me like a ragdoll. What was your character geared with?

Braxium I didn't have an Ohm by the time I cut the video, let alone two (excuses, excuses). You can also resort to mana potions as they regenerate your mana as opposed to a rejuv that causes one hit to reduce your mana to nothing. I'll agree there are better ways to build a Phoenix, but I was going by what I knew rather than following build guides which have gear I'd never obtain within six months without dealing with "wug" "wuw4it".

Asgardians3t Let's see... No "Tuc's," "CoH," Shako, Mara's, "Dancers," "Aracs" and no merc sporting a green aura. I'd rather use stuff anyone can obtain rather than beg for gear on d2jsp for a "perf cahr" even if it is slow.

Modighen Best way to play, and well, everyone can two shot duriel with a javazon, all skill damage/basicly no gear needed, but where is the fun in that. I tend to make weird chars as well just for fun. Had a lot of fun doing hell with a bow barb back in the day! I've done the d2jsp thing as well, gets me bored in the game much quicker. Next ladder I'm going to make a couple of chars with only self found stuff again :D

Fluffywolf I was trying to build a Booyaka this season, but I was sidetracked and he's only half done. I want to do one, but Leap Attack is really tiresome without a really good beating stick. I'll see if I can play more often after the 26th and get some more overlooked builds featured.

+Modighen I agree with using stuff anyone can obtain - but you can obtain stuff by trading online... "Tucs" go for a couple perfect gems usually...
