What I find really interesting about Diablo’s character development is how the devs through the years have designed him with the classic hulking, brutish demon look. You would think he’s a physical monster. Yet, as you described, he is tactical and methodical and doesn’t resort to physical rampages. It’s a fun dichotomy and subversion of expectation!

@@trojon True, true! I guess that’s the divide between lore design and game design. Especially with D1, he had to be a physical menace to be a good final video game boss, no matter what the lore would say.

I like how Mephisto is usually the 1st of the Big 3 you meet , rather than say 40k where It's Tzeentch all along!. Hatred is used to corrupt and allow access to the others. But Mephisto tends to have more that 'mage build' out of the 3 and yet be leading the invasion from the front.

Let us say Diablo is the most..., "cunning", of the three, regardless his brutal look. Yes, Mephisto is supposed to be the cunning one, but in the end always ends up giving up to his own hatred and commence whatever action he had previously planned; Diablo on the other hand, will always wait to the most precise moment before starting whatever he's got planned. Baal is the opposite to these two, hence the nomination of Lord of Destruction, but that also does not mean he is a mindless attacker or something..., even Baal will know/prepare his stuff before strike.

Makes sense that hes the most physically imposing, in terms of appearance. Being a giant terrifying demon plays right into his whole bit, "Terror".

I wonder how will they get Diablo back in D4. The primes are reborn in hell, the gates are shot and Meph got out only because of us and Neyrelle. Hope for some good crafty lore to explain Diablo's new diabolic plan:D

The gates being 'shot" really doesn't mean anything given the fact in the first diablo he was summoned in and the following game is the exile of the the prime 3 id really say its not a how but a when, An the answer to that i hope is he is the last prime in the game we fight not like in D2 where we fight Baal an sure in D3 we fight diablo but again his defeat os overahadowed by maltheal

@@jarbroham5541 In D1 he wasn't summoned, he was in the soulstone under Tristram Monastery. I don't know how the dark exile happened technically, but I believe it's not that easy to get from hell to Sancturay (although after World Stone distruction it is certainly easier than it used to be). Didn't Mephisto manipulate us "trap" him in the soulstone, coz he wanted us to take him to Sanctuary?

You forgot immortal where it shows scarn inhabiting his remains thus keeping Diablo from spawning. Only after skarn is defeated does diablos essence start to reform.

@@NyxVellum You piqued my interest so I went and did a bit of reading. It seems that after death; the crystal arch eventually churns out another angel to fill the same role that the dead angel was responsible for. However it is a distinctly different angel with a different name. I guess Malthael and Inarius aren't going to be reborn as the same angels after all. 🤷

Great videos so far (watch 3 back to back. Timelime, mephisto, and this one) found 2 inconsistencies so far though, adria didn't create the black soul stone zolten kulle did as said in the timeline vid and in the meph video you said lazarus was sent to free diablo from his prison by meph but here you say diablo corrupted him instead. Sorry to nit pick either way these have been great and i will continue to watch any other video you have up now and future. Im looking forward to a lote dive on barotuk if there isnt one already

It’s amazing how they have this amazing lore and the possibility to visit various places in various states, in the games… and they squandered it all on that shitty live service MMO that nobody asked for. To think that they’d even gatekeep the single player story campaign behind that idiotic always online DRM. The fall of Blizzard was more tragic than the fall of Leoric.
