Quick few tips for those of you, who still struggle with the guy (or will be struggling in cruel): - anti freeze charm is a must - if you're lacking cold resistance, use artificers orbs to add sockets to your armor and place cold res runes, - don't rely on dodge too much, there's a trap in it you will eventually discover; make sure you are moving rather than dodge-rolling and you don't have to spend every waking second of this fight casting/attacking, sometimes is wiser to just focus on positioning and avoidance - try to have the boss in your sight at all times to anticipate the mechanics, the moment you see him jump up is the time to run for your life, because the bomb dive is coming - you can use your life flask even when frozen - it's wise to focus on "put on the ground over time damage skills" like firewall for this fight, it minimises the amount of time you are slowed by the attacking/casting animation - during the fog phase, the boss will charge after he finishes speaking one sentence and in relatively equal intervals, so pay attention - after a charge always comes the backward sword slash covering 2/3rds of the arena, move away or roll through it

yeah i've definitely noticed the dodge roll, while quite nice for some swinging attacks, most every AOE is better left just running out of. as long as you have like at least 10% movespeed boots, simply running out while not casting is faster than dodge rolling

Man, I love the way you stay so positive. Great attitude. Keep it up. More skills isn't better, find your better skills, spec your tree for a single element and push hard in one direction. If you split your offense you're just going to be bad at two things. I understand it's still a little early for this to be relevant but I'm just looking at your skill bar. Fire wall and your favourite projectile spell are the way to go.

not entirely true. I specced my ice monk on lightning too and it works perfectly. you just have to not do it at once. You focus on one element at the start and then you slowly add the 2nd one. Works fine...
@9kArdos3
@9kArdos3 17 күн бұрын
@@Kousano That comment is incorrect. One of the most OP and fun builds is dual element. For example If Herald of Ice and Herald of Lightning are both important/good for your build, chances are good that it's better to not only spec into both element but to invert the support gems wich increase elemental damage, tooltip and intuition will say that makes no sense, and when you see and understand what actually happens you mind goes BOOM and the entire screen of mobs goes up like fireworks. As a consequence of skillpoints being limited, specific synergies and other things, taking the strongest nodes for your build from each element instead of taking both the strongest and some weaker ones for one element can be absolutely superior. Monk for sure probably Mercenary and Sorcerer can all do well functioning elemental builds and dual can be superior depending on what skill you want to use and some other things like items, SSF or no SSF, it's really complicated to write it down in detail. Maybe this: Triggering of ailments, heralds, support gems can feed off of each other more efficiently or even in a way single element can not at all with dual element, wiping the entire screen of mobs passively by activating each other in a chain reaction.

I legitimately started cheering for you halfway through the video, and that ending had me actually shout like I was watching sports! Hold onto that perseverance for PoE2, you'll need it, but keep going! Just as a heads up though, there are a LOT of mechanics in this game that aren't really obvious even on an in-depth dive, so don't hesitate to read some guides or builds to make things easier on yourself!

sorry but thats veteran talk bull crap from you. He actually tried to analyze his mistakes just fine but refused to change for the first 20 trys or so later on with the changes he made he was able to get to the endphase but still missed essential points that would made the fight a trivial matter. We all went through that in our first runs of real Diablo likes at some point. (can't even tell how often Andariel got me during my early D2 days with her op poison and for some classes it is stil deadly because they are highly equipment based like the barb. PoE also had those fights like the first encounter with the couldron witch doedre which needed high chaos resistances as a spellcaster as you were not able to lifeleech your way through. Diablo in D2 is probably quite similar to this boss just with leess freeze and way more burning and lightning damage on his behalf ^^ The key issues he had were a lack of arena awareness and lacking resistances other than that he did actually quite good. the arena awareness issue lead to the high amounts of times he got frozen or multihit in a row because of panic roles for example. The learning progress is also visible as he stopped cold damage skills in favor for cold effect and fire aoe skills instead which increased his surviveability during the minion phases. As I not buy in on the Early access packages (no need for coins) I had not encountered this boss myself yet and can't speak for the whole expereience I would even try some other strategies in such a case like doing stuff you would normally avoid like going in close combat range to see how his patterns change in that case and if it is more beneficial to do so similar to how the Act 9 millegaro fight in PoE made it way easier to deal with him this way for me even he could technically one shot me with his melee and my low lifepool at that time, but because of a high evasion rate and blinding him in addition to melee range defenses it was way easier than dealing with his long range aoe skills that would hit me If i couldn't move out of them in time. Also because I hate getting frozen in PoE I would have done something again it from the beginning XD

Glad, you've persevered. It's a matter of experience with games with vastly different playstyle from Diablo 3/4. Or even POE1. But it is a fun game. Make sure to keep your gear up to date and try to specialise in some particular war in your skill tree. Normally it's worth it to just go full ham on one Element, for instance. And stack penetration for cases when enemies have Resistance.
@Ssidistik

This is what I love about this game. The fight was totally different for you and I because of knowledge. You got to see all the mechanics and fight for every pixel of life. Your fight was so much better than mine because it lasted longer than the dialog. There will be a point where everything starts to click for you and the 200000000 options all start to be easy to pick and stack properly. That is what is so cool about this game, you do not have to be perfect or have all the knowledge up front to kill a boss, YET they let it still be possible by fighting the mechanic with penitence to WIN at your own pace. Good Work, keep it up!

The same happened to me while playing merc against the final boss of chapter 2... For some reason I couldn't beat him, I created a new character (also a merc) and it went smoothly on the first try! The importance of a good build is key here, it's not always about your skills or knowing their patterns. Each boss has a main resistance and if you invest way too much on that type of damage you're basically making it much harder for yourself. Try to build your characters with more options to switch to, just in case your main damage output is reduced by their resistances.

Warrior because it's the only one I haven't played, and Monk deletes any boss or one phase of it in literally 3-10 seconds. I never once died to a boss with my Invoker or took more than seconds to be done with it, but for example towards the end of act3 one of the ziggurat outdoor maps killed me literal 20-30 times to explore, being one hit for any mob makes some of the tricky ones a real pain.

Some suggestions from a not so casual gamer: -Check your cold and physical resistance (change equipment where necessary, remember you have charms) -Also check your energy shield, use equipment and passive nodes to multiply your shield as much as possible then you won't be squishy. -Improve your movement speed (to help you avoid attacks) -understand that you're using cold attacks vs a boss with cold resistance (shown under the bosses health bar) -consider how slow your attack speed is considering how fast the boss moves.. -instead of rolling away from the wolves you can use ice nova to push them away, or better yet use bone cage since they have cold resistance. -there's also so much more you can be doing as a caster offensively, such as chaos debuff, shock for increased damage, ignite for more damage over time. -upgrade your health flask

Kudos for keep doing 🎉 I’ve beaten the count with a ranger and wltch in the first try. However had difficulty with other bosses. For any boss in PEO2 movement and more so positioning is important. Sure stats and equipment is important too, but evading the attack for the last frames and continuing to attack immediately after an evasion roll will greatly improve the success chances. Most of my fights it’s either roll, run, roll, attack, or attacking while walking backwards and rolling in between. 🙈

If the boss has a lot of adds, it can be good with a recharge on kill flask, if there are none, charge over time. Resistances can also drastically help to resist certain attacks that gets you killed. Charms can save you from being frozen, bleeding, etc.

If it helps your ego any, my first build was a Merc, using perma-frost/frag/high-velocity (and stubbornly sticking with click-to-move instead of WASD), and the minions kept swarming me during the long delay between ammo types. It took a half-dozen deaths, before I realized those phases are on a timer, so I didn't actually need to stop rolling long enough to attack them. But, yeah, you need to upgrade that health pot, move sideways instead of backwards, and not roll INTO anything that even vaguely resembles a circle (such as that black circle that showed how far the sword can reach).

@@LoneWolf10-12 After the hyena boss, I decided to stop brute forcing with controls that didn't work with my build and am now brute forcing with Shockwave Totems. I don't care, if everyone says that the ancestral spirits Warbringer passive is the worst, because having the screen be filled with gigantic leatherback turtles has me able to leap slam away from any and all threats. The only thing that's made me panic so far with this build was two flying uniques in a row with mana drain auras and poison, since every monster is Usain Bolt.

One of the biggest/best tips I realized while playing was; dodge roll less, use movement speed

yea, move speed is great. feels so good when you avoid an attack with it and know that you would have had to roll without it.

I really enjoyed this boss fight. It's really well telegraphed and combined with the magnificent OST and his voice lines makes this one of the most epic boss fights in the game for me. If you have difficulty guessing the spell he'll cast by his movement or voice lines, the next best strategy is to just stop casting for a second, when he starts speaking, so you can better anticipate his attack and dodge it.

It is really painful to see that he got frozen by the same circle of ice many times. Almost like he doesn't learn. Edit: All he needed is some cold res, maybe some damage. Going back to farm some items is an option that's hard to do. There was a boss that dealt heavy fire damage at cruel dificulty. I was at 11% fire res but died on my first try when the boss had 0.1% hp. Decided to brute force it and ended up adding 5 dumdum rips to the counter. Idk if I was tilted but a power that didn't touch on the first try was always 1-shotting me after. I did went to the gamba npc to get some defensive gear for the fight but it was mostly trash.
@DemonsCrest1
@DemonsCrest1 Ай бұрын
nah, you just always need to keep strafing so they cant target you, and roll every time they indicating they gonna use a charged skill on you. you just got to avoid being caught on the circles and pretend like they are lava ^_^

@Darkruk Ай бұрын
Tip from a poe1 vet: damage is everything, the faster you kill enemies the less damage they deal to you and it increases the clear speed which is needed for the money later. If you struggle its time for upgrades in your case you lacked damage (the small monsters swarmed you despite attacking) you can do it by changing support gems, refining your skill tree (look what people are doing online and try it), or getting better upgrades, biggest game changer in case of getting swarmed is movement speed on boots combined with debuffs on monsters, wind dancer aura is insanly useful for getting swarmed, it pushes back enemies causing gaps beteen enemies that allow to dodgeroll and you can add support gems that cause enemies blind and maim which is guaranteed to hit from wind dancer.

Damn dude, you actually got good at the fight and improved. Last try you had 100% pot until the end. You did it. Also, you knew what you were doing wrong, the fact that you mentioned your gear could use improvement, or you could get more cold resistance or rearrange your skills showed me you weren't going to rage and piss on the game. You knew it gave you the tools to make it easier. Awesome attitude. Props to you, man.

super interesting to watch a non POE player go through this. For long time players, we know that the "fog part" is to actually build our potions by killing minions so its important to not use them during that time, elemental resistance makes or breaks viability, and surviving longer is more important than straight DPS.

As a new player to the genre and PoE2 I started out as a Warrior... And I don't consider myself a souls veteran but I do enjoy them quite alot. Took me 3 tries on Geonor with the absolutest trashest gear. 2 to memorize some of his patterns and the 3rd to be lucky as shit when his HP dropped to around 15%. But I never considered that a hard fight. The trick is to no one surprise... dodge roll timings. :D

i'm not half way through the video but: 1: get better potions 2: overthink your "build", the skills you are using and the support gems. for example: go flamewall with fortress and spark and this guy is down in an instant with the basic sorc path on the passive tree 3: work on your movement. try different controls, or controller if you struggle. i got 6 characters through act 1 before doing act 2 with my main. your damage is waaaaay too low. its not that you are squishy per se. everyone is, because bosses hit hard in this game. so with the low damage you'd have to survive longer. you can farm your skill gems in earlier zones. you get them really quick. and now that i finished the video: it was a fun watch. thanks :)

wow that was rough, i think it took me 4 or 5 tries with my mercenary yesterday for the first time. Try craft something or improve what you have. disenchant everything you pickup and time to time try a roll. For your pots you want charge reduction and increased recovery. Also its important to have as much HP on your gear as you can get. Clearing the maps thoroughly on your first walk through will help either be leveled/geared appropriately or a little over. Anyway.. i'm sure you get the idea. Dont speed walk through everything, enjoy the content.

That is kinda painfull to watch. So many skills that do nothing. Instead of focusing on set of skills that properly interact with each other. Like for example frostbolt + icenova and frostbolt + cold snap. You could easy freeze all wolves during his mist phase. Or got for full on arc + orb of storm build and blast them with lightning. I bet half of your skills dont have even one support gem. Also, what with you moving into his attack ?) In the beginning all your deaths were because you moved into his sword, from outside perspective it looked like you did it on purpose. :D
