The only problem is who does it force to guess? Because it can't pick an Alien, otherwise it immediately prevents innocents from winning, and it can't pick a random innocent cause that narrows it down for free. No easy way to do it.

What it should do is go around and give each player that hadn’t used it their button push, going in whatever order it uses to select them. Pretty easy if you ask me. Or there can be a mechanism where they get put into a room, the room votes on who should be the final person to make the guess, and then it goes from there

Right, but if the next in rotation is an alien, they win anyways so they have to skip the alien. But if they skip the alien, they already know that the skipped person was an alien

It should force everyone to vote on who to space, picking a number of people equal to the number of aliens. Then, it ignores the alien votes, tallies the human votes, and the people with the most votes are spaced. Ties either space extra people, or force a loss, not sure which would be better.

why force a vote? Just make the timer stop testing and let whoever press the button. Probably would need like a 3 minute timer to move this phase, but at least in larger games humans NEED to be able to mull over the information without the stress of wasting testing time.

At very least you should be able to space a human, so long as the aliens don't outnumber the surviving crew.

Then they hack Gavin the whole game so his answers are always wrong. If an alien is captain when the scanner comes up he's marked for death. Only way to counter it is to scan the old captain next (unless there's an alien blocking you in any of the three rolls) then you confirm a single alien and spare one while spending two scans. A single wrong conviction at any point and the humans lose. It's just poorly designed really.

It should be that, as long as one alien is spaced, a new round of voting starts with no more prompts, until all of one team is dead (tie-breaker goes to aliens). After 8 people, if they get one alien, it's 3 vs. 2 or 4 vs. 1 Humans then have one last chance to eliminate the remaining one or two aliens, leaving two humans. (If no aliens are gotten in the first round, then humans are screwed by simple math anyway). Hence, a suspicious human dies, but as long as they get at least one legit alien it's not enough to tank it. As is, this seems absolutely impossible unless the Aliens are retarded or everyone knows each other *way* too well.

The NLSS has had a few successful games. That said, this seems like a Jackbox game that was more ambitious than Jackbox was prepared for. It's definitely not the sort of game they usually make and probably should have been tested better.

@@src248 what fucks it up is using the bioscanner bc it takes so much time. If you keep testing over and over again and make sure that you're hurrying it up every time then you'll be fine. The only 2 useful tests are the drawing and fill in the blank ones tho, the other two suck

This game is calibrated toward competent groups, but that doesn’t mean it’s unbalanced. The main thing I would say about this is they should allow the VIP to change the number of hacks in a game as a handicap valve, but as the same group plays over and over again you see the humans win with higher and higher frequency.

This game is great but the whole unanimous vote really throws it off as with more people, you get mix reasons to vote yes or no on certain suspects. Opinion hold is the weakest as it’s a blind run to the aliens and if the humans get hacked. Best example of this is to see the Derp Crew playing Push the Button.

Literally every single group of people I watched play this has gotten thrown off by the hacks. The only time you had to wait turns for the hacks was the very 1st time you played, during the tutorial. Every single time after that, hacks are available from turn 1.

There should be two rounds per video like most of the other Jackbox games. Also while the game itself looks like it needs some more balancing tweaks, try it again with a smaller group(possibly rotating out who is playing and who is spectating between round 1 and 2). That may help with the difficulty balance.

If the aliens all gang up late game and hack one player constantly who’s human even if 2 aliens get yeeted it’s more than likely the remaining alien wont be yeeted as humans might gang up on the spam hacked human yeet them and lose and the yeet had a single human

The only thing I could see that could balance this game a bit better would be to change the alien hacks to be inversely proportional. The aliens get 4 hacks, -1 for each alien after the 1st, so with 3 aliens they only get 1 hack.

how to balance this game out Only need one person to get the symbols correct in the bioscanner room Humans get one last chance to beat the aliens when the timer runs out Fewer opinion-based prompts, or make the two prompts wildly different when applicable A math room where everyone gets a series of threeish math questions, but aliens get one question that's different from the others OR it's like the deliberation room, where the aliens can't see one of the questions and have to respond blindly The bioscanner reveals to EVERYONE whether someone is human or alien The aliens don't win if there's an incorrect guess in the , unless the timer runs out (the human(s) chosen to be launched can't do anymore prompts or press the button, but they do if all of the humans end up getting launched) The aliens don't know their allies The aliens can still hack, and aside from bioscanner, the rooms still work the same way. The humans still can't see their allies. Unanimous votes are still needed, and the timer isn't changed. This may be tipped slightly in the favor of the humans, but I feel like it would make the game more balanced. Keep in mind that not all of these suggestions would be necessary to make the game more balanced.
