That Evo definitely had a competitive driver who knew that car! I'm impressed the bulkiest car took the best turns. I had a feeling with the skyline and the nsx taking the podium. I love how you can see the struggle of the faster nsx in the turns with that Evo behind it waiting to overtake. I'm really impressed with the first 3 drivers. The rest seem like they weren't trying or wanting to push it like that Evo driver, 3wheels on the ground in turns lol.

Imagine 50k for a clean evo then paying more than 60k just for taxes for the total money that evo will cost i can buy r34gtr in another country, anyways evos are comparable to 911 Turbos of their time! No overrating but the car is actually very advanced! It has ayc, S-AWC, it can send 100% torque to 1 wheel! And can brake each wheel to give traction and torque vectoring in Evo X too! All the new cars have it but evo had it back then! Amazing car the Lancer evolution!

Nakaya may also enter God Mode when he drives Porsches from time to time, he may enter God Mode when he drives any other car as well. But when he is behind an Evo, then you know that not even God Mode is good enough. Fastest Lap + Best Lap Average shows how powerful the Evo can be (even against Godzilla or any other car) but also how skilled Nakaya actually is. Seeing those lightning shifts alone are always amazing to witness.

Nakaya inside an Evo is always dangerous lol. If this race was any longer though, the NSX and the RX7 would have pulled away. Evos, GTRs and STIs are front tire destroyers. The Evo maybe less so. Im actually impressed how far the R34 stayed ahead considering just how much that car overheats and deteriorates front tires..

I can't say for sure, but I think the race was done with stock tires, which are a harder/more durable compound, albeit less grippy.

Evo 7 had ayc unlike evo 8 in the states. The car rotates naturally with ayc and a lot less wear on front tires. Also they were much faster in Japan stock. They are lighter and tuned differently. They ran 12.6 stock in the 1/4 mile vs 13.1 in the states

What I find very interesting is the difference in performance and overtaking ability the Honda NSX, the Honda NSX Type S, and in other videos, the Honda NSX Type R have in the corners. The really did a great job refining the chassis into a dedicated race spec. I really like how the Subaru Impreza WRX STi and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution quickly developed their cars within a short span of years to a point where their cars could challenge the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34.

I think the problem has to do with understeer and not lack of power. It's the same thing on every race, they start in front and then fall back due to 'アンダ アンダ アンダ (unda unda unda)'. They are good cars nonetheless.

You have to remember that the R32 was designed as an homologation special meant to dominate Group A which it did, so it's engine, transmission and chassis were meant to handle much more power than the stock model made. The R34 (which is the R32's second evolution when you look at it) has a good 330~340bhp but the almost 200kg over the Evo somewhat deny the power advantage. If you modify those things as they were meant to be they really do fly, with the Mine's GTR being the most extreme example. At that point in time the sheer extra weight of the R34 was making it obsolete against the Evo despite having superior technology so this victory is sort of a last hurrah for a stock R34.

@@luisvejar4170 I was serious. I know a few people who used to own an evo 7 overseas and their evo’s have this “quirk” with the transmission. Out of the 4 guys I know, two of them had to deal with this. I remember one of them saying it will just grind and/or act like neutral if you shifted too fast. Now to be honest, I did a bit of research and found that the 5 speed is a pretty buff transmission but when you start *Power Shifting* that’s when the aforementioned characteristic of the transmission starts to become true. I asked the two and they said it only happens when you power shift it very quickly. Nakaya San has power shifted evo’s plenty of times before with success but I noticed he does it less in the evo 7 specifically. Also, I watched this volume years ago on another video with subtitles and I remember the commentator saying that the evo 7’s 5 speed transmission SEEMS TO NOT RESPOND WELL TO FAST “AGGRESSIVE” SHIFTS. Now I think he was referring to power shifting in which Nakaya San was doing BUT the comment came after the moment Nakaya fucked the upshift so idk. So to sum things up, yes Nakaya messed up the shift, it wasn’t the transmission’s fault. But I had my reasons as to why I made my prior comment before someone pointed out it was driver error. Please correct me if I’m wrong. It’d be nice to learn more about lancer evolutions.

I don't know if you noticed, but the evo ended up in 3rd place due to a human error! because in one of the corners the driver made a misapplied gear and lost speed... and that's when the Nissan and then the NSX stopped him... Otherwise the evo would have been the winner... I think this victory did not taste good for Nissan, Knowing that it was not because of the machine, but because of an error .... I think this definitively sealed that the evo was superior to the GTR ... I think Nissan was very upset about this and did not continue with it development of the R 35 at that time.

If you look at the fastest lap they are all within a second of each other. It comes down to who has the biggest balls to push their car just a little harder. That Evo RS driver was definitely on a mission 😂. Also cool to see that Evo getting thrown around yet the GT-R just gliding around almost in comfort lol
