This video basically helped me figure out my Toyota Hilux drivers side electric problem. After 16 years (2007 model) the nut holding the glass had worked its way free (detached) making the raise on odd angles - thus bouncing in & out of the guides. I was able to fix it myself in just over a hour carefully detaching the parts (following his informative process). If I had of taken it to the mechanic they could not have done a better job & I would be paying a few hours labour & probably un needed parts meaning at least $300 plus. I am really pleased that I Google searched this video.

Hi guys, wonder if anyone might be able to help. My Roadster mk 1 driver's window has been slightly erratic for about 9 months but always corrected itself. After a serious cold day it appears to have had enough. It goes down but only up by 1/4 - I've tried all the 'tricks' but no go. Just changed the window motor and still the same. I'll watch the vid when I get back home but does it sound like a regulator issue (as the window does go up partly..??)

I like the detailed step by step. The left passenger side window wont go up but I follow similar steps and I was able to see the motor working but the gear and rail wont lift the window a bit of moving here and there the window got back in place and fix.

This was a good video if you're window is already down. Mine is stuck in the up position with very few holes to access the bolts and lube the cables.

I have 3 vehicles. Two have crank windows (93/96 Tercel) no issues. 01 Camry, 3 window motors had to be replaced according to the previous owner. Love the crack windows.

So I had 2 back windows fixed recently - 40 euros each. A week later the front passenger window regulator broke (i can hear it spinning). I got mad cos the window went down and it's stuck. It's winter and I have no garage to keep the car safe. So I am here watching your video on how to save 40 euros and I am getting an understanding of why it costs that much. I am lucky it's only 40. But then again I am a woman and cooking sounds easier to me. Satisfying to watch though. Thank you! 😊

a good indicator that it's the motor is if the dome lights in the car dim when you engage the switch to roll it up or down! Otherwise, it may be a gear that drives the window is broken or stripped!

Hi Josh. Love your videos. I have a 2002 mercury sable wagon well maintained. My driver side is working on and off. After new motor, new switch, new replays and regulator working the window stops working and then it doesn't. It makes a clicking noise under the dash but the window won't move. This could be a discussion for Click&Clack, radio show about car problem mysteries on public radio, but sorry to say that show has been gone for quiet some times. Maybe you have a thought on this. Your videos are amazing and you have such great knowledge. To bad you don't live near where I am. Thank you Josh and all the best.

The clicking is usually the relays passing the power through so that’s good. I wonder is the window is getting bound up in the track somehow?

You could also try spraying pb blaster silicoin lube, the inside gears could be stuck.

Hi. Question... My driver's window sometimes works fine but other times I have to press down on the glass while pushing the button in order for the window to go up or down. Is that a bad motor/regulator?

My driver window will randomly stop moving sometimes as well. Most likely your going to have to take off the door panel to see what could possibly be the issue which may or may not be easy depending on your vehicle. It’s probably best to do this when your window won’t move so you can observe what isn’t working. 1) turn the key in your car so that the engine isn’t running but the radio and lights come on. Press down on the window button when you do this you should see a slight flicker in your interior lights or see slight movement in your voltmeter. If you don’t, then the switch is the problem. But I’m assuming it might be the regulator/motor. 2) press the switch and see if the motor makes any noise. Signs of a bad motor are the window rolls up slowly or sometimes a clicking sound. If your window is misaligned or rolls down quickly it might be the regulator. Hope this helps

Hmmmmmmmm. Mine is a smooth regulator and motor. Up down track good. But buzzing from switches. Glass Doesnt look like it unsticks when window up for 99 times out 100. Just works once. Goes up down fine then as many time as wish once clear. But leave window up a few minutes and back to trying 99 times to get it to start again once in 100. Swapped switches. Wasn't that. Lost. Any ideas. Thanks

Same!!! It’s my passenger side and it doesn’t make any noise though just sometimes randomly I will get lucky and it goes back up. Now it’s stuck halfway down and won’t go up again🤦‍♀️

My glass is stuck to the rubber seals and will not roll down, other side broke lose, works great, going to try some soap and spray it on driver side and see if it will move, Pulls the inside light down when I push the windows button down.

Hey man (and everyone watching who has experience in vehicular mysteries) I've got a 2007 mx-5 miata, cylinder 3 misfire, switched the ignition coils to see if it jumps to cylinder 1,2,4,5, but it just sits at 3, I've checked wiring, might redo it soon just to see if I screwed that up, and also want to test for a vacuum leak, all that being said, if anyone has any other ideas, it'd be much appreciated. For reference I've cleaned the c02 sensor, fresh spark plugs, new ignition coils, cleaned that tiny ass filter (let's be honest, I'm not a car guy so.. No idea what it is or what it does) just heard that solved many check engine lights aaaaand nothing... Really want/NEED this fixed seeing as I'm about 4 months late on registration, so, yeah, if anyone has any unique ideas (I'm not a car guy, but I'm not stupid, I'm not drilling holes into my engine) it'd be much appreciated!! I do not want to let go of this car, it may have it's dings and dents and... Being owned by a racer, it's wear and tear, but this is my bae.... Seeing as my human bae left me ;-; ....dont want to have to count my losses y'know? Thanks in advance if anyone sees 😂

Mine stopped working all together so all i did was to unscrew the motor cover, regrease motor, clean motor contact and it was good to go.

Hi, I ordered a new window motor and regulator. The drivers side window is stuck in the up position. I am not able to reach the screws to unattach the regulator to the bottom of the window. I tried moving the window down but it won't move. Any suggestions?

@@DIESELTV23 Hi yes thanks for asking. I ordered a window control switch from 1a auto and it works really well. Better than other controls I had ordered from ebay. They would work for a while and then stop working. So far so good.

My window regulator/motor just clicks, I replaced both motor and regulator and still does the clicking. I also checked/ replaced all wires and checked fuses but it still doesn’t work. Feels like a low voltage issue, could this be a battery issue? All the other windows work

Sounds like my problem I just solved. Probably a bolt has worked its way free and the glass moves out of the tracking. Do you get a bang noise as you raise the window? Maybe that is a clue on the tracking as if it works ok one way - but not the other. (they were my symptoms too)

Seems like something electrical Vs the motor. Try swapping the window relay with another relay and see it’s it’s better. Or it could be the switch in the door
