Revealing My Heart Problem and Planning to Replace Aortic Valve.
I was diagnosed with bicuspid aortic valve, which is a congenital heart condition in which the aortic valve has only two cusps (flaps) instead of the normal three. This condition is one of the most common congenital heart defects, occurring in about 1-2% of the population.
Over time, the valve does not close properly, allowing blood to flow back into the heart's left ventricle instead of flowing into the aorta.
Other problems found: Aortic stenosis, bicuspid aortic valve, aortic aneurysm, valve calcified, severe regurgitation.

I have this condition but I also have an enlarged aortic wall which will require a graft. I am due for surgery this year. To say I'm terrible is an understatement.

Hi Lore, My aorta was also enlarged; they replaced it with a draft and repaired my aortic valve, and two bypasses were performed. This is all overwhelming and very scary, and I understand your feelings. But all I can say from my experience is that medical science is very advanced, and the chances of having an excellent outcome are very high. Recovery will be a bit tough, but you will be almost normal within two to three months. Do not worry; all will go well. Take care.

Plz I want to know how much ejection fraction percentage was before surgery?
@baybongdiary
@baybongdiary Ай бұрын
My ejection fraction was 35% prior to the surgery; it should be between 55% and 70%. Thanks

Hi A.chithu, On the internet, there is a lot of conflicting information that will confuse you. Initially, when I was first diagnosed, I was scared and thought my life would be very short. But that is not true. Most likely, you are going to have a mechanical valve, and you should have almost the same life expectancy. However, you will have some restrictions and a moderate lifestyle. If possible, try to repair your valve. Please watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2ipY2iBYqmHh9E. It may give you some idea about valves. Stay confident; it will be all good. Feel free to ask me if you have any other qustions.

Hi Amrit, It is unfortunate that you just had the surgery, and it has already a moderate regurgitation, and you are only 24. I am not qualified to give you any medical suggestions but make sure to have the medicine to prevent any regurgitation-related complications (because blood is now staying within the heart longer than it should). Based on your cardiologist's recommendation, you need to do ECHO often to monitor your progress. Now I wonder why the surgeon decided to repair it instead of replacing it. From everything it looks like, replacing the valve with a mechanical one was probably the best choice. Please make sure to consult with other cardiologist/surgeon as-well, and do what needed, even if needed to be earlier than 10 years. Sometimes we need to deal with a bit suffering, but eventually things will be better for sure. Keep trust, be positive, and be on it, don't ignore.

Sir there is any Probabillity that reguration will come from moderate to mild after some time with medicines... Because I had VSD also and it's repaired.. My ejection fraction was 60 % before surgery and now it is 55%

@@amrit560 Based on my knowledge, medicine won't reduce regurgitation; it is to prevent blood clots or heart attacks. But again, I am not a medical professional; my doctor told me that. A normal ejection rate is between 50-70%, so it is not that bad. I had 37% before having my surgery and now probably 55%. You probably meant your ejection rate is 45% now. VSD is not a valve (it is a hole between the lower heart chambers ); they repaired the hole during your surgery. Can you find out where it is leaking now? Is it the aortic valve? Was that issue present prior to the surgery? What you had the surgery for and what problem you have now, are two different things or the same one?
