Got into my 98 S10 4.3 the other morning, the exact same thing with no prior warning. $580 labor and parts for fuel pump and filter. Good thing I saved that stimulus money!

I really appreciate you making this diagnostic video, it helped me a lot. My '03 GT was doing the same thing as your GT in the video. I replaced the fuel pump over the weekend and that completely solved the problem. I was concerned that the problem might be something else because the car has only 64,000 miles (although it is 18 years old). Thanks again!

Thank you for this video. I'm having some of the same symptoms on my 03 GT. For awhile it would run rough about 5 mins and now won't run at all. Car sat for a long time now has new battery and cranks real fast over and over and that's it. Thank you.

Fuel pump is always bad timing cause your fuel tank is full seems to do that a lot. Good video

Mark Yeah, the 2005+ is a 15 minute job. I’ve done this a few times, so I have it down. Even changed one in the walmart parking lot for my cousin not long ago 😅

how do you know if its the fuel pump or just a clogged fuel filter? mine can turn over a few tries without starter fluid then run for 30 minutes perfectly fine even when revving it at idle? you think its the fuel pump?

A clogged filter will likely stall the car out. A bad pump allows the car to run once you get the pump going and then has trouble starting again the next time

Any answers would be appreciated. My wife’s car idles fine, and I can rev it up fine in park. When I put it in drive and accelerate, it stalls almost immediately. I changed the fuel pump, and cleaned the throttle body. It still does the same thing. Any ideas? Throttle position sensor? Fuel filter? Something else?

I got a 95 GT when i run it hard and its gets hot it seems like the fuel pump decides to take a breather until it cools down. Will turn but no crank for about 30 mins .

What year and model car? On these mustangs the fuel system is returnless and does not come back to that tank. Depending on the year

Hey so my car will take a min to start but then it starts also when it. Starts it starts to misfire then go away then also I would drive it would be fine but when I try to accelerate it start to act weird and sometimes do’s t go

That can be the fuel pump. My friends mustang was like they where it would misfire really bad under moderate throttle. Otherwise it would run somewhat normal

@@dannyjohnsonsgarage okay thank you I changed my tps sensor my MAS sensor and also my crank sensor been got the fuel regulator and I’m hoping that’s it then would you recommend to change just the pump or the whole fuel pump ?

Depends on how weak the pump is compared to a dead pump.

a failing pump can work perfectly fine off and on. It still could be the pump, or other things like the fuel rail pressure sensor or even injectors

Toni Armijo That may have ruined the pump to run it dry at its age. Fuel also cools the pump, so it may have overheated and is done.

my car doesnt crank at all. You turn the key and its quiet, you wait a few minutes and it cranks and starts when you try again. Could it still be a bad fuel pump?

If it won’t crank at all it’s not the fuel pump. It’s probably a bad ground, clutch pedal switch, etc. Try it with the map/dome lights on and see if they dim or turn off entirely

It’s very possible. My friends mustang did the same thing, ran fine until under load and it was the pump

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that can cause that so it might be difficult to track down. Do all the electronics go dead as well, or is just te engine stalling?
