Diagnosing a fuel pump and fuel pressure regulator on an gm 5.3l or 6.0l

I was told by a dealer mechanic the fuel pumps were troublesome and at times they would take a hammer and “tap” at the pump area to activate them in troubleshooting. So many would go bad. Also,(!) if you guys ever replace fuel injectors....make sure you rinse out those fuel rails!! Fuel sediment would collect at the far end of the rail (closest to firewall). This sediment would later plug up the tops of your new injectors.

When a duel pump is bad but car still runs then dies is due to the bump warming up then failing rev the motor get the pump moving and heating up .then you will see the big drop in pressure.

Which cold air intake & filter do you have? I’m thinking about getting a cheap one (not gonna pay hundreds of dollars for one) just wanna make sure it works tho

Spectre filter ebay kit. Nothing special. Doesnt do much

Just use a factory K&N drop in, the cone style filters can actually hamper power

2004+ are returnless systems, they moved the regulator to on the fuel pump in the tank...

2004 has the regulator in the fuel pump assembly, the fuel pump pushes fuel to it then it sprays out what it doesn't need

Didn’t u hear him he said everything was fine when he tested it. My guess is fuel ain’t the problem it’s probably the spark plugs or cap & rotor if it’s still running rough

You hardly checked the regulator 5-10 mins while running to see if fuel is coming out of the regulator, fucking Mickey Mouse mechanic.
