Todays video is how to Diagnose a Power Steering Whine. I use this term because the sound will resemble sort of like when a power steering pump is low on fluid. This sound was noticeable while driving and needed to figure it out. The ford 150 with the 5.4 3v engine has a number of idler Pulleys. The more idlers you have the greater chance of a bearing failing that will be causing the noise. You can either replace the bearing or grease it like I did in the video

I for one have repacked idler bearings like you did and they lasted for years. I agree with you on the throw away society we have now. I rather utilize what I have and when need be then I will replace as needed. Take care Jerry and be safe sir.

Great how to Jerry. You gotta do what you gotta do. If i can get a year or two more by repackaging them I will. Bearing grease is cheap and it lasts a long time. The new one's hardly have any in them. Been known to repack them as well.

@@TestDontguess that way in they fail. People will just get new ones. Its a win for them. Less grease means they will fail sooner. So people will get new ones in a year or two.

Total BS...I must have called a dozen brake shops in Los Angeles and no one turned rotors or drums anymore. Glad to see you show some people how to a quick fix that will a several years if done right and what kind of condition it was in. Cool video.

New Rotors are so inexpensive now that the labor to turn them costs more than a new one. I recycle the iron.

@TestDontguess
@TestDontguess 3 жыл бұрын
Yes can especially in a high voltage motor, what happens is over time the grease will work it’s way into the Rotor and Stator and take out the motor
