Agreed. Unless your wheel cylinder seals are pouring fluid out more likely is the self adjusters. I have had more recently on a disk brake caliper the guides where so cruddy on one wheel that they worked poorly or not at all.

wheel cylinders will seize up and not leak. been there seen it. all i drive is old shit, have seen it all. some guys dont like drum brakes, mine once i fix them, will stop on a dime and give you 9 cents change. i like them!

You do know, that before you even pull the wheel off, just take the inspection plugs out on the backing plate and stick a flat blade in there to tighten/lessen the star-adjusting wheel so you can have it brake more evenly...

Yes, but you shouldn't have to do that. The brakes are all self-adjusting. Each time the brakes are applied in reverse the self-adjuster should operate, if needed. I don't even know why they bothered putting the adjuster access hole there on a car this new.

New!? Hahaha!!! Don't expect those self adjusters to always do their job right. Like I said, moving/adjusting that star wheel is a hell of a lot easier to solve brake problems than taking everything off. If that doesn't fix it, then by all means take everything off and replace the shoes/whatever. Have had plenty of experiences with these drum brakes, especially on my '73 Valiant 4 door /6. + '65 'Cuda & '65 Valiant.

that wont work to good if there is hydraulic restriction or bad wheel cylinder.

“Maybe it’s the master cylinder.” Hahaha I said those exact words.

im going to let you in on a little trick that i hate to give away, wheel cyl.... you dont have to take all the crap apart, the bolts that hold the damn thing in, yeah the bolts you cant really get to, the best way to get them off is to take a chisel to them ! this trick is for mopar a body"s with front drum brakes. trust me i have been there.

Don't you think you should clean the rust off the bottom of your car.
@TylersNeighborhoodGarage7 жыл бұрын
Lol, well with that car it isn't just a matter of cleaning it off. It needs sandblasted and metal replaced, etc etc. The bottom 1/4 is all bondo.
