I tried to build an ECU to monitor my ECU. I called it OECU, overlord electronic control unit. But the second I turned it on, a warp bubble opened up and a naked cyborg with a shot gun calling me John Conner appeared. Luckily I disconnected it before he could attack me, and everything went back to normal. Moral of the story... Don't build overlord computer units unless you want to bring about the singularity that will destroy human kind. Which you do.... I mean... don't.

I'm guessing that naked terminator wasn't Kristanna Loken from Terminator 3 or you wouldn't have unplugged it. You would have died but gotten an eyeful and probably worth it.

Okay, feeling confident enough to try this after a glass of red wine. Let's give it a shot, what's the worse that can happen? Sure, bricking the car, being unable to get to work, getting fired, and suffering a short, but torment filled life of poverty, but what the Hell. Maybe it will be fun?

I had a question I had a used ECM installed in my car 2010 Hyundai sonata after my converter was stolen now my car randomly stalls but there is no codes my mechanic gave up on my car do you think the ECM could be causing this or the converter?

The fact that it is random and there are no code does give me a strong indication it is the ECM. The converter would throw a code - and not stall the car randomly. I hope you have a warranty.

hmm.. I'd have opened the box and looked for discolored parts, bought replacements on Digi-key, and swapped the parts with soldering iron.

The small information I found on PCM DYI made it look like even opening the box was dicey proposition. I don't have enough electronics experience that I would have been confident in doing that.

not all ECM's control the throttle plate, and you should talk about timing, through the Crank and cam sensors..
