i was kinda hoping for some more extensive repairs on those stampedes, i love seeing the mechanism in those blasters. but of course it's a good thing they weren't broken beyond repair.

Now I kinda want to see the Captain do a series on blasters and talk about the engineering behind them; especially the weird gimmicky ones. Like, there were these three blasters I saw back in the N-Strike days. They came in a three pack. A bazooka (Titan?), a six-shot automatic front loader (Hornet?), and a one-shot pistol (Scout?). They had this gimmick where you could connect them all and fire them all at once. I’ve always wanted to know how that thing works.

You are describing the Nerf Unity Power System. WalcomS7 has done a video on it. The Titan and the Scout are simple enough. The Hornet? I'll be honest...I have no idea how that thing actually works...

@@CaptainXavier i believe the hornet works by pumping up a set of 6 firing tanks and a extra high pressure "trigger tank". When you pull the trigger it dumps the HPA in the "trigger tank and forces the LPA in the firing tanks out to propel the darts. Either that or it just simply uses a indexing tab of some sort to fire the tanks independently.

Though I would still like to see a more in-depth analysis of Nerf/other-foam-flinger engineering. Maybe a series devoted to showing how such things evolved over the years. I got a Demolisher from a goodwill last week, that had the same problem, excessive corrosion in the battery housing. I was so bad I had to take the blaster apart, snip the wires, remove the battery connects, and let them soak overnight. Cleaned them off the next day soldered and reinstalled. It works now. I have never seen that bad of corrosion.

I thought a catastrophic failure was a failure that broke a piece, though I get your point that the Infinus is very durable and won't break beyond repair very often.

I have a Stratohawk that has a jam door that is extremely hard to open. Could I send that in as a viable fix or is it not a "big" enough deal? Edit: thank you Captain for the tip!

I have a dead 12v drill. The clutch fried and I am planning to use that as a stampede motor. But it will require some major interval work. The trick might be mounting the variable speed switch and planetary gears.

Are the motors in the stampede the same as the motors in the vulcan? Cause I have a vulcan that i just assumed is running out of battery but idk if the motor is wearing out so it would be nice to know stuff like this even though I don’t expect to actually replace anything in the vulcan.

I'm bummed this series isn't around anymore. I recently picked up a Mega Mastodon secondhand and it doesn't work. The previous owner was shocked it didn't. I told them I'd keep it anyway in case I could fix it. Probably a bad move considering I don't really have the tools to fix this kind of blaster 🤣 I've only just started cracking blasters open to mod/fix and only springers. Oh and btw I checked for corrosion. The battery tray looks mint. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears 😂🔫

Do you know if the chewbacca blaster and the fortnite suppressed pistol can take a k26 or at least a spring upgrade? They seem to be the only two licensed nerf blasters which are on the 70 FPS par with other nerf blasters.

Vinegar and cuetip Will restore a battery terminal as long as its not too bad. This was the advice from Duracell when I had a battery leak. May take a few applications but is should work

Hi, 2 days ago I purchased a Infinus. Really in two minds about this blaster. im using brand new duracels with it and it will only fire the blue elite darts. accustrike gets stuck while loading and while shooting. I have some knockoff blue elite darts with solid tips and these jam all the time. What do you recon? is this a common flywheel blaster issue?

Yes, using aftermarket darts in stock blasters will result in jams.

The accustrike/accufake heads are more rigid side to side so they jam in flywheel blasters. They are designed for springers, not flywheelers. Modded flywheels can handle them because they have more torque.

It also depends on the blaster. Older blasters have larger screws and some blasters have different size screws in different parts of the blaster.
