Hey cranky turtle, thanks so much for watching and connecting! We're really glad you're enjoying the videos and thank you for your support, it means a lot to us. In terms of transitioning between different parts of the same song, it's a longer term project, which is exactly why we're launching a new project on Patreon in September. So if you want all our advanced hacks and how to write a song from start to finish, please consider joining us over on Patreon. Here's the link: www.patreon.com/revolutionharmony. Until next time, take care and happy songwriting! Kate :)

Hiya cranky turtle! We totally understand about the finances, that's part of life, but we are super excited that you are considering the possibility. Just a thought, you could always test it out for a month to see if it's worth sacrificing some gear for! haha :D We think that we are offering something of real value to our patrons and we hope they agree! We've had 17 patrons sign up in the last 5 days and we are super pumped to get the Patreon party hopping. Our first episode went up last week and we're eager to hear where the song goes this week. In the meantime, I'm curious what kind of music you make? Kate :)

@@HackMusicTheory Hey guys. Thanks for the response. I used to make sort of very minimal chilled drum and bass, but now I've got back into playing guitar religiously so I want to make stuff which is more in that sort of direction. 90s trip hop type stuff. Hey, i am based in berlin, germany. I mostly make sample based hip hop, diggin vinyls and find the sweet sounds from the past its a joy :) feel free to check out my channel or soundcloud. This was the only way I could kind of start off when I was first beginning to write my own songs on guitar because I only read tabs and had no o experience to play off of. What I like about the bank card idea is the 4 groups can sometimes provide some colorful chords structures. Love the video and this series is becoming one of my absolute favorites. I would like to know if you have any videos already, or if you'd be willing to maybe do a video based a bit more on the theory of the emotional construct of a song by use of different intervals?? Either way, you keep making em, and I'll keep watching and sharing em. Thanks a ton:)

Hi Mikey! Awesome to hear from you again and thanks for watching! We don't have a specific video on that topic, however, if I may make a suggestion, if you don't have it already, I think you would find our "Hack Music Theory for Songwriting and Producing" PDF very helpful. There's a hack in there specifically for intervals and their emotions. It also has a wealth of other hacks which include how to write chord progressions, bass lines, synth riffs, etc. You can download it from our website here: revolutionharmony.com/books. Let me know if that's helpful to you. How is your writing going? Are you currently working on a film project? Until next time, take care. Kate :)

Revolution Harmony I literally stumbled on that minutes before your reply!! Haha!!! I downloaded it after seeing your first video and have been digesting it in chunks. It's absolutely brilliant. I do have a few shorts and feature length documentary in the works. Thank you for asking by the way. I also would like to release a batch of EPs by the end of 2018. Biggest thing I've been digesting is getting that rich and powerful "Hollywood" sound via different mix methods. Haven't found a tried and true method yet but I'm doing my best, and slowly but surely making progress. You can hear some of my samples at www.soundcloud.com/happy-accidents-1 if you'd like. Thanks again to the both of you for being so responsive, and dedicated to your craft and our community as a whole. It makes a HUGE difference to know that some people in the music industry aren't just out for themselves. If I can ever be of assistance, be it writing a lengthy review for publication or personal use, or even just assist in a social media campaign, please let me know.

Hey Mikey, hope you had a great weekend! That's wicked that you're finding the PDF helpful (good timing), that makes us very happy. It's awesome that you have projects you can start using your newfound hacks on, that's always the best way to learn! We're cheering you on all the way! Good luck with the mixing methods, it's quite the science which comes out sounding magical when done right! Thanks for sharing your samples, they are very cool. You've got quite the collection and a vast array of different vibes. Thank you big time for your very kind offer to lend a helping hand, I've made a note and will connect if we think of something. In the meantime, your support for what we do is wonderfully brilliant. Have a creative and productive week! Kate :)

Hey, do you have any more information about linking the different modes/scales to emotions? In your books for example. Or other videos? I'm super interested in it, not just 'happy' vs 'sad' but all the other emotions. For example when you feel empowered and powerful just below the surface and want to go out into the world. And you're overcoming fears to be able to do that.

Working on 3 sets of singles to be released in several languages. As you may remember, Japanese is one of those languages, but I plan on expanding into Korea and English speaking countries not too long after. Just getting it all prepared in terms finishing the songs, choreographing the live show elements and figuring out what will work best to market such a big project. I'm thankful for this video because in the east, you tend to hear slightly more elaborate bass lines, and this is a great method for at least finding inspiration for bass line movement in some of those songs. Do you guys have any upcoming releases?
@HackMusicTheory
@HackMusicTheory 7 жыл бұрын
Wow thanks for sharing Chad, that sounds like a really big project and are in the final push! Hooray! When are you planning to release them? That's really interesting about the bass lines being more elaborate in popular music in the east. Let's hope that that can influence western pop music! Thanks for asking about our upcoming releases! We have a release planned for each month until at least the end of the year. We haven't yet released any of our own music this year because we've been so busy setting up this channel! Last year we had at least one single a month and sometimes two a month, it was amazing! We'll get there again in the future :) Ok I'm rambling a bit! So the song this month (September 29) will be our love song "I Is Love for You". If you watched our wedding vlog you will have heard some of it, and we'll be doing a theory video on it the day before it's release, so stay tuned! Have a wonderful weekend Chad!
@Chadosaaan
@Chadosaaan 7 жыл бұрын
Alright! Yeah, I remember that one. I just rewatched it. You guys seem like you really belong together, and I'll be ready for the official release. And yeah, I can imagine it's a little work getting all of this going. I'm sure everyone is appreciating the sacrifice, though. One song a month is a good pace. It's about the same pace that I'm planning on releasing my own singles. As for the actual release date of the first one, it is going to depend on marketing to a large degree, so that's why it's taking a bit. There is a lot of little transitional lifestyle bits that are being worked out and professionalized. But it shouldn't be too much longer. The reason I'm taking extra care is because I have my eyes on a very large record company in Japan, so I'm going to have to show up with guns loaded to be considered, and I'll need even MORE ammunition to have any level of negotiating room. I know what they want, and I'm trying to create a win-win situation for everyone involved. Wouldn't want to get dragged under by the system, either, you know? Anyways, I'm rambling, also. Haha. Take care, guys. I hope you enjoy your week, and I look forward to this Thursday and to your release of "I is Love for You" on the 29th.

Haha Chad, you're the best, you really know how to make us smile! Wow, it sounds like you have a really solid plan for your music and are really dedicated to your craft, good for you!! We look forward to the release of your music, so let us know when it's out :) Also, I know we've talked of Patreon before, (so there's absolutely no pressure) but I wanted to say that the $2 tier patrons get all of our singles as WAV downloads a month before they're officially released, and they get early access to KZbin videos when possible :D So "I Is Love for You" has been up for a couple of weeks. The next release which we'll be posting to Patreon this week is Ray's hardcore track featuring a Toronto rapper and Brazilian hardcore vocalist, super fun! Ok, I'm sure we'll talk soon, but until then, have a great week!! Kate :)

Hi guys! love your content in this channel, thanks for posting. I also use reaper and love the flow of the piano roll, and I'm wondering what VST you guys use for your piano/bass/drum/synth sounds?
@HackMusicTheory
@HackMusicTheory 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Sam! Thanks so much for watching and connecting, we really appreciate your support. Yay Reaper! We use Native Instruments for most of our VSTs. The piano we use is called "the Grandeur". The bass is the "Scarbee Jay-Bass" which Ray says is the best sound for the price ($69). The synths are from the "Massive" library. Lastly, the drums are from Toontrack's EZ Drummer with the "Dream Pop" extension. Hope that helps! Take care and happy songwriting. Kate :)
