DIAL PUZZLE SOLUTION (in 15 seconds)

Today I'm showing you the Hanayama dial puzzle solution. It's a level 4 out of 6

Firstly, I'm going to show you how to solve the dial puzzle, then I'll show you how to put it back together, finally, we'll have a go at speed solving to see how fast it can be done.

To get it open, you have to follow these steps-
1. Make sure the thicker dial piece is on the Hanayama side
2. Orient the Hanayama side dial so it is point left of the Hanayama writing
3. Orient the Dial side dial to the right of the Dial writing
4. Bear in mind there are 4 possible orientations of steps 2 and 3
5. Once it clicks open, turn the Hanayama side dial anti clockwise 45 degree
6. Turn the Dial side dial anti-clockwise until you feel the puzzle open further
7. Keep turning the Hanayama side dial anti-clockwise until the dial puzzle is open enough to turn the dial pieces out and separate the entire puzzle

so i just bought this puzzle today. when i have the 2 silver pieces turned to the side where you can see the 2 halves, they spin freely. when set into the puzzle to begin solving it / taking it apart, its nearly impossible for me to turn the dials... not sure what i can do to get past this resistance. hopefully you can help me

I seem to remember mine being a bit stiff initially but then loosened up. If you mean you can't move them at all then it might be to do with the positions they're in.

@@RossDM they freely move when i have them where you can see the 2 halves. but when i orient them so i can attempt to solve, its like they wont move at all. and ive verified the thin piece is on the dial side and the thick piece is on the hanayama side.

I had to bring out some pliers since I have no nails or grip to grab on. Eventually it worked. Crazy enough, after I disassembled and put it back together, it was so much easier to turn.

My dials barely move...they seem almost seized should I return?

After clicking out the dial side, no matter how much I spin the hanayama side, the black sides dont move apart. What should I do?

Are you applying a slight bit of force to try separate the black sides whilst rotating?

@@RossDM yes, but the black pieces are not going any further. I have solved and re assembled this puzzle many times, so I’m worried that it’s because the inside of the white pieces have broken.

Mine kept seizing up when trying to rotate them. I ended up putting vegetable oil between the dial and the bottom piece so that they would glide better. Then I got it like 30 min later.

I can get the pieces to move to the first place, but when I do that, Hanayama dial moves, but the Dial side doesn't. Very frustrating!!

Hmm... that shouldn't be the case. If it persists maybe try reversing the moves and do the dial side moves on the Hanayama side? I doubt that'll work though

I have the dial but the center pieces are so tightly assembled that they will barely turn individually 😢

I got this yesterday solved it twice and now when it starts to come apart it won't go any further

Hmm... You've probably got it to a point where you have one of thefts inside the smaller circle and one on the outside. The best advice I can give would be to go back to the start and follow the steps in the video.

Maybe try taking it apart and starting the reassembly again. Once you lose your place with this one, it can be quite challenging to get it back

I put it by the forcé but now i got it. But box the circles of the centers are like With cuts because y was tring with a nail clipper 😆

I cant get mine to even slide open. I bet these are manufactured so each one needs to be aligned slight different. My least favorite. Even when you know the solution , it's a pain to solve. Not fun. EDIT..... got it open and apart. And this is probably how I'll leave it :)

I think they're mostly the same because this solution works for a lot of people. Have you tried doing it on the opposite side?

I just got this and it is totally siezed up - I cannot get it to twist in either direction. I am not sure wich way to twist (with force) to get things moving again.
