In this video I will show you how to install a subwoofer and amplifier to a factory stereo in your car. For this install, I will be installing this system in a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum with Bose radio. The factory radio is kept and the amplifier will use a high to low input from the factory Bose subwoofer speaker wires. In this first Video 1, I will show you how to connect the wires you need for this install.

For anyone looking for a rubber grommet to feed your power wire thru. Take your glove box out and behind it in the top right area you will find a rubber grommet perfect for your power wire. No holes drilled or needed. Cut a line in the grommet and push your wire thru it and pop the grommet back in with your wire going thru it sealed. Just thought this might help someone cuz I had to search for a hole for my power wire for a amp for subs.

@@MrGonzo24 yes. Take the glove box out. And behind it to the top right there’s a rubber grommet that has a hole that leads from inside of the truck to the motor area. You can start feeding it thru the inside and you will see it come out

So if it says Bose on the dash speaker but I don't have a sub in the cargo spot in the back do I still have the amp there?

Instead of taking the storage area and 3rd row apart to access the remote turn on lead from the factory amplifier, couldn't you tap the remote turn on wire to a fuse in the fuse box? Then run the cable back to the amp with the power cable?

There are couple ways to get a 'remote turn on' signal to the amp. One is what I did getting it from the Bose amp which is a true remote turn on meaning my amp will turn on when the radio is on. The other method is like what you pointed out which is using an igntion 12V as a remote turn on. But with this method, the amp will always turn on when the car is turned on (even if the radio is off). The third option is with some line output converter device, it will detect the audio signal to the speaker and generate a 12V remote turn on for the amp. All 3 will work, just depends on your preference.

Because the rest of the speakers in the car is powered by the Bose amp.

Did you only draw input power from the left or the right channel or both? In other words is the sub input only 1/2 stereo, if so, do you get any fluctuation in the bass output from the sub itself?

For the hi to lo input, I connected both L & R. Since I only have 1 sub (right now), it's only outputting on the L side. By connecting it this way, I can easily add another sub for the R side later (since input is already connected).

Very good work. I have a jbl bp600.1 amp that has a feature called "common sense" and turns on when audio is detected on the high level inputs. That would of been a nice time saver in this scenario.

@@dial2fast Do you own the '07 Pathfinder? The reason I ask is because I have an '06 and I'm needing to replace the head unit (CD cleaning disc didn't help). I had replaced it previously and in doing so, broke the top of the panel that's removed when doing so. Is that panel the same for '05-'07 models?

The input signal is wired for both channels, and the amp is bridged to 2 channel output. So in the future if I want to run dual subs, I just have to connect the other output on the amp.

Tapped into the Bose subwoofer connector but the bass lowers when I raise the volume. I may have to tap into the wires before the bose amp to remove the amps bass vol adjuster.

It's the basics in this video the place you tap in for a signal will vary, however if you have speakers above the trunk you might be able to access the wires easily or amp in a be way easier spot to get to in the trunk

There is no transmitter or RCA. This setup uses the high to low level converter that's built in the amplifier. So it takes speaker output straight into the amp.

You tune the optimal bass on the amp's EQ, then you adjust + / - bass on the factory radio. If your aftermarket amp has remote bass control knob, then you can use that.

It will void the warranty on anything that is related to the components you modified. Of course that doesn't mean the particular dealer will not give you a hard time on any repair. That's why it's important you know what you are doing.

I was told by technician that my bose amplifier would need to be replaced. I have a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder Platinum. Would mine be in the same location? They are wanting to charge me 250$ for labor and I'm on disability currently so i can't really afford it so i need to do it myself if possible.
