I have some blonde Expresso from Starbucks what grind size and should I use single wall or dual wall ?
@AjusCafe Жыл бұрын
Do not use dual wall. Always use single wall basket for extraction of full flavors. You need to dial in every beans you buy. Here is a video i did on that kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqC1g52lfp12oZo

Hi Aju, thank you for another informative video. Very interesting to learn about dialling in coffee. I must add that you make the latte art look so simple. I have been trying for some time now but not there yet. I guess I need to keep on practicing. Also, is there a huge difference in coffee beans bought from the supermarket than coffee beans bought from a local coffee roaster. I mainly enjoy latte and cappuccino coffee and not too sure if the difference would be noticeable in these drinks. Many thanks 👍🏻

Thank you. Practice latte art every day. You will get it soon. And yes there is a big difference in freshly Roasted beans and store bought. Store bought beans can stale very quickly, as soon as you open the pack. For espresso basic thing to keep in mind is, always use freshly Roasted beans which are less than 4- 5 weeks. Anything beyond that is good for drip coffee. So it is important to use freshly Roasted beans always for espresso.

@@AjusCafe many thanks - i have a new Barista Express and i am stuggling to gets my extractions to last beyond 20 seconds at internal burr set at 6, so I have adjusted them to 3, now I get my extractions to 25 to 30 seconds but the pressure gauges is beyond 2 o'clock. dosing at 18 to 20gms, Any suggestions?

@@seanpopple5984 There is not much control on automatic extraction. Now the question is do you prefer the taste of 20sec or 30 sec? If you are getting proper flow (not chocking or dripping), then nothing to worry. Some beans act that way. Hope you know that you could manually control the extraction time if you prefer that way. Check my Manual mode video in my channel.

Hey Aju. Thanks for showing us the coffee in your neighbourhood? Still brewing ristretto or are you back to more traditional espresso recipes?
@AjusCafe3 жыл бұрын
Hi, this superstore is just behind our home. I made few Ristretto last week. Now making normal espressos.

@@AjusCafe Ah nice. Your superstore actually seems to have a decent collection of coffee unlike ours. But Sydney has an established coffee culture so we're not short of roasters here either. Hehe. That's probably why supermarkets here don't really stock beans.

If you ever get a nice dark roast, I'd highly recommend dusting off the ristretto recipe to see what you flavours you can get out of it. Aim for 16-20 seconds and a 1:1 to 1:1.25 ratio.

What makes between a espresso bean versus a regular coffee bean, re the Nabob?
@AjusCafe3 жыл бұрын
Good question. it's more to do with the label by roasters, which is meant to enhance the flavor profile. For example the one labeled espresso would enhance full flavor when used as espresso. But many not produce that enhanced flavor when used in drip coffee or French press and vice versa. Again espresso labeled beans would produce thick rich crema and grinds perform well (taste and profile) when used in high pressure extraction, compared to drip coffee.

Adding to what Aju said. Any beans can be used in espresso but might not yield the best results. If you change the brew recipe, you might be able to make certain beans work for espresso. Try experimenting with it once you get the hang of making standard shots. It's a part of the fun!

The shot looks like water and No doubt it’s Way to Old beans…You Call the shot and taste great ??? I would appriciate more detail about taste, because that does not look great.

What else can we expect from a store bought beans. The flow would be quick in most of the cases, unless some cases i noticed to have a correct flow which are marked Espresso beans. Again perfect flow doesn't mean it would taste great. The ones I made were tasty and latte was even tastier. My wife kept asking me latte last 2 days, with this beans as they were so tasty. One would taste the cocoa and chocolate taste on this beans. It tasted more like Lavazza super Crema beans as well.
