Hello!!! I am a Home Hemodialysis Nurse and I found your video 8yrs ago when I first started in this field. I want to plead with you to please leave the video up on you tube. There are very few HHD videos with real patients and partners doing the dialysis. I have shared it with many patients who are afraid to try HHD. It has been inspirational to sooo many patients coming to HHD and taking back that control in there lives. The impact and reach is far greater than you might imagine. Please please please leave it on you tube!!!

Please don't take it down. Today is 2/6/2024. I've been on in-center dialysis for exactly two months and on this Thursday, the 8th. I will begin training for home dialysis. Please do not remove that 9 year old video. Even all this time later, it is the most informative video I could find. You guys gave us step by step instructions. No other video does that. People talk about it and show is supplies and machines but no one but you guys showed us the process from beginning to end. As someone who is new to dialysis, you have helped me so much.I'm determined to do this. I live alone and the Home dialysis nurses and my doctor all say I am a perfect candidate. I'm 55, still working and active. Believe it or not, nothing you did or talked about in your video is outdated. Isn't that something? I'm not sure why this information is not more readily available. So many folks still don't know about home-hemo dialysis and so many who know are terrified of it. I'm so glad your bride got her transplant. That is the best news I've heard. I am hopeful I will as well. But, for now, doing it at home gives me much more control, and although I live alone, you two have no idea how much your video just helped me. It was all I needed to see and so much anxiety left my head and body. Thank you. Live a good life and continue to love eachother.

Nine years later and I found the video! It's still very, very useful to people. Please leave it up. I'd also like to say God Bless you and your wife. Having such a burden so young in life is terrible but you've both beat it. Cheers from South Carolina.

Not much has changed with the NxStage home hemo machine. The original system one machine is still out there, but there is a newer version with a touchscreen interface. Still looks and functions basically the same. Paper flow sheets are a thing of the past, as there is now an iPad app that does all that for you, as well as help troubleshoot alarms. We still learn the paper process in case of app failure. There are other machines out there that seem simpler and better, but they aren’t yet approved for solo HHD. You must have a care partner with them. For people like me, NxStage is still THE only way to get home treatment. I love seeing how different people set up, treat, and come off of the machines. Thanks for showing us how y’all did it. I’m so happy to hear all is well with you and your wife. May her kidney last her a lifetime.

I had a kidney transplant for 13 years. I received mine in Feb 2011. I got a MISSED diagnosis for melanoma on my face. I had 5 surgeries to my face hoping they got it all. 2.5 years later it now in my liver. Trying immunotherapy to kill the cancer but in the process it killed my transplant. Now im on dialysis and your right. IT SUCKS. Keep your eyes open for melanoma is all i can say.

When my kidneys first went bad, I found the video you 2 made and it affected me positively and I was grateful; I still review it occasionally. I am apparently not eligible for as transplant, but the two of you still give me hope. Thank you. And I ask that you do not remove it. Many blessings and prayers for the two of you.

Maybe you can add a disclaimer that you realize medical equipment and technology is continually evolving and the video with your wife wasn’t designed to replace advice or instructions from medical professionals. It’s a video showing our process and doing our best to implement what we’ve learned. You’ve done your best and that’s beautiful and wonderful. The medical field itself has been based on what was previously done and improved. You’re a part of history and that shouldn’t be erased. However I understand the concerns you’ve listed. Lastly, I’m happy your wife received a transplant. Blessing to both of you and the medical team and thank God for your progress. Be well

I just watched the Home HD video, reason is that I was offered the option just yesterday and after 14 years of going to hospital of centers for my HD it sounds promising. Also the freedom of being able to travel "locally" more. But I live alone and I need to handle it all by myself and that scares me. I got a transplant in 2000 but because of a infection in 2008 I lost it in 2009. PS: I was surprised how I got emotional watching this video, I almost never get emotional talking about or really thinking about my illness.

So sorry to hear about your failed transplant. That's tough. I hope hemo works out for you. Best of luck!
