I kind of think of Diamine as the "battle of the blues" brand. I switched from one blue to another when trying to choose my favorite diamine ink that I just can't keep count. Oxford, sargasso Sea, Majestic, asa, blue velvet... It's just so hard! Every ink feels perfect by it's own standards. As always, thanks the review, Adam!

I use this ink in a kaweco brass sport - i love that it comes in international short cartridges.

This is my favorite non-waterproof blue ink, so rich and deep but as you say, never looking black. As you show, it’s well behaved in pens and on paper, and I like its fast drying time. (My favorite waterproof blue is Noodler’s Anti-Feather Blue.)

I don't think you could go wrong with either of those blues. Both are worthy of being a favorite blue and are great choices.

Very good review of an ink that I’m planning to buy over the week-end. I’m very fond of Diamine inks; have more than a dozen of their superb inks already. Among the blues, I particularly love the Majestic Blue and Blue Velvet a lot. The Oxford blue looks like a solid, attractive blue-black for every day use in any setting. I especially found your repeatedly saying that the OB can often appear very dark without ever looking like a black very reassuring. That’s exactly what I’m looking for. Most of my pens are B or M nibs. I plan to use the OB with a broad nib. Wonder if that would be a great idea or not.

Truly it is aways worth testing how an ink looks from a particular pen. While nib size can affect how an ink look it is also be affected by the flow of the pen. I stand by what I said about the nib that looks good in, and think you will be happy with it. Oxford Blue is a solid performer.

Coming back with an observation. I like this colour for formal scribbles. However I am now binning my second 30ml plastic bottle after six months. It seems to ?oxidise, or something. After six months it became a muddy dark teal colour. Both bottles did the same. Yet my brother with a glass bottle of the ink reports no problems. His bottle was bought at the same time. I haven't had problems with any other Diamine inks in their inconveniently narrow necked plastic bottles. Weird.

Some inks do oxidize and "grey" over time. I wouldn't have thought this ink would have that problem and it is unfortunate you are experiencing it. Perhaps a different blue would serve you better. Your brother's glass bottle may be the answer... I would guess it is the plastic bottle causing the problem.
