Great DIY advice, thanks! I’ll try this first before purchasing a new set of points. Question: what are your thoughts on practicing with 2 sets of darts/6 throws (non-games)?
@Straightdarts3 жыл бұрын
I think it dose more damage that good. Its important to try and replicate a game situation as much as possible when you practice. When you do this I find you play at a slightly faster rythem and your first darts is always thrown with a bit more aim than the next two for most players. Whe you do this you are getting less practice on your first dart and how you address the board. This is much more important to practice. As a one off, if you just wanted to throw a load of darts to get your arm going straight then it could be beneficial bit other than that I wouldn't do it. I even take a small brake between throws sometimes to replicate the pause of another player throwing against me as I believe alot of people who practice alot by them selves get caught out by this as and try to trow to fast in a real match as they are not use to waiting to throw. 😀 I learned that off Bobby George "always have a pause between visits to the board". 😀 and I think he is right from my experience as well 😃

That is a Mission Duplex large darts sharpening stone with twin abrasion. You can get then on darts corner for just £1.50. Well worth it and lasts ages.

Hi mate, if I may ask, would it be possible to cut defined fingergrip grooves with that method? My 40mm Swiss DS have spoiled me, but I can't find any regular points with comparable finger grip in like 44mm+ (at least if I'm not modifying the dear 52mm One80 Interchange Points). I'm not even keen on the DS boardgrip tip, a little scuffing would do, but since I've switched to having my middle finger on the point and I found out that extra grip gives me so much more stability, I'd really love to be able to make use of longer points with that feature. My fave actually would be a standard silver point to leave 40mm protruding with nice sharp fingergrip rings and a rather boardfriendly ripple structure plus a metal trident. Cheers for the help and your great videos in general. I could learn quite a few tricks from them.

Yes, you'll need mini dimond cutting discs and min vice to place the points in :) these products will work. :) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/186502688710?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=xxilpnartiy&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7nUlyOiiQZK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY www.ebay.co.uk/itm/196439197377?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=UcPqgPFQTku&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=7nUlyOiiQZK&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

@@Straightdarts Brilliant! So by placing the points in a vice I assume the points will not rotate in that process? My old Dremel is broken, but I might have some discs left, a regular vice and electric drills at least. I wanted a new rotary tool anyway, so buying one wouldn't be an issue, but depending on the setup you have in mind, of course, if I've already got enough to do it, then I'd try that.

It was a mission Darts sharper, but they stopped making them. Its very similar to a knive sharpening stone, though, that will work. :)

Are you using a mission sharpener at the start of the video there? And does it damage the board if you use that sharpener ONLY?
@Straightdarts6 ай бұрын
I was yes and no. Anyway Stone you rub the dart with will only create very small cuts. The board will be fine. Its what players did for 50yrs, before fancy points came out. :)
