Those outboards are scary, insanely fast in all attributes, super light, cool outboards, they can make tons of horsepower and they were basically manufactured for speed

@@Sick_Nick95 yeah, I'm looking at some, I love the sound and how fierce they are, got hooked when I saw a couple of mirages with them, but the closest thing to them of recent times other than the optimax was the etecs, which for the same HP were over 100 lbs heavier than the old 2.5s, but also harder to tune

Holy s--t, that is insane!! The way they sound, even at a very low speed, is awesome, but at 7400rpm, that must be a serious adreniline rush that don't quit as long as they sing togeather at 118mph... Wow, only Mercs sound like that, the 2.5's then they became the 2.8's. 2 stroke Mercury racing rules!!

I grew up on Rocky Point Road in Bremerton Wa. And when a Mercury was coming you could always here that nasty soundy and I would drop everything and run to catch a peek of it. Me and dad were a popular Tunnel boat builder then. But it's never ran right for me and no one around here will touch it. So it sits and sits. I will never sell it lol. But it is my life goal to get this motor going. I made the boat from scratch now if I can get that motor to go lol. It does after a few minutes like the spark is getting weaker and weaker until it dies. Then I let it sit for 10 minutes and it fires back up like nothing happened.

jeremy green I hear ya. I could ignore most 2 strokes coming down the lake, but I always had to look to see what was coming when I heard the 2.5 with an offshore mid section.

I. Born and raised on long island. My parents house is a quarter mile from the bay. As a kid playing with nitro rc.. one day I hear this sound, ask my dad what it is. He said let's to go the bay and find out. 45 seconds later we get there and there's this white and yellow cat barley in the water. I mean 20 years later and id have to say he may have been very close to 90-100mph. But the sound of those 2.5 screaming. Man. One day. One day. Got wife and big bills. And now in Vegas. Idk we'll see. My neighbor has a v drive boat and a jet boat. Bbc are cheap. Idk. Well see what happens

@@bill6449 I love my v-drive and have raced every kind of boat propulsion except sail.. and v-drive's use way less fuel...the economics of saving $ on gas makes up for having to pay attention to water depths....from Wyoming USA 🔫🤠ps...mine's a Hondo runner bottom..

You need to use the power trim to trim the engine up and then it goes faster
