Yup. Being a hotshot is every bit as difficult, rewarding, and amazing as you think it could be. If you get the chance, take it. It will be hard, you will work harder than you thought possible, but you will achieve things you never thought possible.

How hard is it to get hired on a crew besides the physical fitness and certification? Do crews have waiting lists or do you have to have a certain number of years with other firefighting expierence?
@4estmoreland3 жыл бұрын
It varies depending on the year. Some years retention is great others it's rough and their will be a lot of new hires with little to no experience.

@@jakobrojas6534 Howdy! So I would always carry a drybag with me and stuff it in my pack. It did add like 10lbs of camera gear and would be a pain at times but it was well worth it.

Depends on the need to hire rookies. It varies year to year. Your chances are better to get hired when you have experience to back it up.

Edit: I just finished my S-190 and started my s-130 online. I'm also working out and running/ hiking daily.

The best advice I have is to follow up with anyone you’re trying to get on with which it looks like you’re already doing. Finish those basic certs and keep applying, opportunities will follow. Don’t give up on it if you get rejected a few times.
