The first few times I made this I had to stop and start the video, I am making it for the fourth time now and understand the logic and can do it without being glued to the video. Thanks for your videos, they are so easy to follow and somehow very soothing compared to some other channels where they have crazy background music 😂👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❤️

I just made this collar with a little variation, love it! I used 550 paracord, I should have used a 1” buckle, but wish I had used one a little larger. This pattern is very sturdy. Thanks for your videos!

glad it worked out for you pam, yes, you definitely need a 1 inch buckle, but if yours is smaller, you can leave out the centre colour on the adjustable part, and it will make it even narrower to fit a smaller buckle. Then just add in all the colours when you start the pattern.

Yes. I also got confused. Had to watch every step of the center pattern. I had to watch that center pattern several times. But got it done. Actually I went to physical therapy today for my knee replacement. Took the collar to show the therapist he likes Paracord. I showed the receptionist the collar and she bought it. I got $75 for it. I hope that's a fair price you think? Thanks for your videos.

This pattern is so beautiful! This is my first attempt at a paracord project and it turned out pretty okay. I managed to finish it, but was still scratching my head at the end over the diamond part. I was able to get the sanctified pattern down fast, but I had to watch and rewatch and pause and undo so many times for the diamond pattern. I’m having a hard time holding it in my head just by following/watching the steps without explanation as to why it’s done that way. Do you have a video or reference explaining it step by step? (the tip of the diamond is set up like this, the next step is this, to taper in/out the edges of the diamond you do this, to finish the end of the diamond do this, and repeat, etc.)? It got confusing and hard to follow just being told what to do with no reference points. I wasn’t able to anticipate what the next step was, and couldn’t figure out what way to weave the cord when I got lost so had to search through the video to find what looked like where I was at, and not knowing what cord placement makes what pattern. Any tips are greatly appreciated, thanks!

I really love this collar. I'm going to make a couple like this, but I'm making Martingales so doing this with round rings instead of the buckle. I was probably having a senior moment (hour), but I really struggled with the 2nd and 3rd starting knot. Would you be able to do a video of the those first three knots on a round ring and really slow it down for knots 2 and 3? Many thanks. Love your work!

G'day drb, this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWbJnn6NeNuVhZI shows how to add cord when you are using 2 rings rather than a buckle, you will get the idea and can use any pattern once you have the cords attached. you can also slow down the video in the 'settings' at the bottom right of the screen. these videos take me around 7 hours by the time i set everything up, take the video, make the collar, edit the video and upload, so i really don't want to duplicate something i have already spent 7 hours doing sorry, but hey, thanks for asking. All the best.

hi katherine, thanks for the comments. I attached the buckle at the beginning (0:56 seconds) not at the end. Also, to do the start pattern again at the end, i just stopped doing anything with the black and gold cords, and repeated the beginning pattern minus the gold and black cords. hope that helps. if you've not done any weaving before, this is probably a difficult pattern to be starting with. usually you start with a more simple pattern and build up to harder ones, but full credit to you for having a go!

Good morning, I love this pattern. The colors and design are great! Thank you for sharing your talent. It took me several times viewing the steps to get the pattern correct. Made a few mistakes along the way and the BIGGEST mistake was I had the buckle attached going the wrong direction...had to take it completely apart and start over. At least I will a pro after its completed. Just one question...what price do you on this collar?
@Peacedonkeys
@Peacedonkeys 6 жыл бұрын
hey, thanks for the kind words. Yes, i have put the buckle on the wrong way more than once - i'm a slow learner! as for the price, that's tricky. obviously you need to get back the price of your materials, but after that, it's up to you what hourly rate you want for your time, but this has to be balanced with what people are willing to pay. If it's just a hobby you'll get something back for you having fun. if it's to make money well..... you probably won't unless you're brilliant at selling ice to eskimos! sorry i'm not much help. but all the best with your projects.

Greetings, I just made this collar and it turned out nice however when I try to pass the weave through the buckle it is nearly impossible as the weave seems too wide. I pulled the weaves VERY tight throughout and it just is almost impossible. You make it look effortless to pass yours through the buckle. Can you tell me what I have done wrong?
@Peacedonkeys
@Peacedonkeys 5 жыл бұрын
g'day bryce, i'm using a 1 inch buckle (wide). it is a very tight fit, and when the paracord is new it is very stiff. If you bend the adjustable part back and forth a few times before you put it in the buckle it gets more flexible, and gives you a bit more wiggle room but is still tight and you have to wiggle the buckle over the bumps in the braid. Also, if your buckle is not longer than it is wide, it is almost impossible to get it through as you are trying to put a thick collar straight up and down rather than at a lower angle. (I'm not sure if i'm making sense it's hard to explain) essentially you need to make sure you don't have a square buckle, but rather, a rectangular one. If all else fails, buy a bigger buckle lol! let's know how you get on with it.
@brycen3093

I realize I could make it shorter but will it still be as wide? This wide on a little dog wouldn’t work I don’t think. PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND...lol I noticed you made collars for smaller dogs but nothing like those beautiful big ones you make.
@Peacedonkeys
@Peacedonkeys 5 жыл бұрын
hi kandi, yes, this is a very wide collar for a large dog. you could try doing it with micro cord? not sure if it will look as good but that's really the only option I can think of sorry! All the best!
@da1cru1
@da1cru1 5 жыл бұрын
Kandi; You could try "125 Paracord", AKA Microcord but I think it'd end up way too thin but I have 2 maybe's you might want to try. One would only apply if you are using true, real paracord which is multiple individual strands covered with a protective "skin". Try pulling a couple strands out of a piece of cord and making or starting a bracelet to see if it would look clean or end up kind-of twisted or bunched up, wrinkley?? I haven't made anything yet, I just started looking for DIY instructions a day or 2 ago so I don't know for sure what it would end up looking like. If you are using real para maybe you could fold over the excess skin to keep the nice tight look????????? A second idea you might try if there is one nearby, Hobby Lobby. They sell "550 Paracord" and "125 Paracord AKA Microcord but it's not true paracord, it's the same thickness but not stranded so when pulled good and tight it will compress some. Paracord really shouldn't compress at all, but theirs is a hobby type look-alike, the ends still melt just the same it just isn't stranded so it does compress a little bit, might be just enough? If you have a H. L. store nearby, get online first, they always have a 40% off 1 non-sale item, take a pic or copy it directly from your phone, as long as it's scannable they'll accept it. They have 25' lengths for $2.99 and 100' for $8.99, and the micro is $2.99 for 50'. Good luck!!!

da1cru1 Thank you for the awesome ideas! I never thought of pulling some some of the strands out but like you I wonder how it will lay but it’s worth a try. I didn’t know the Hobby Lobby brand didn’t have strands inside...it might compress enough. Thanks again!

@@kandia8674; Hey There, I made a mistake when I said that Hobby Lobby brand cord is Not stranded, it is however, either on their website or on the packaging it does say something along the line of this is not real Paracord, for "hobby use only". (That's not to say it won't make a great dog collar, bracelet, etc..) It really just means don't rely on this cord in a survival situation, lol. I thought more about your situation, reg paracord has a braided shell and stranded guts. If you pull a strand or couple out, burn one end and staple or tie that burned end to something and gentle but firmly pull/slide the cord through your fingers, (might want to use gloves to prevent burns), it should tighten the braided shell around the now thinner guts. The only thing I can think of that must be accounted for is make sure you cut a longer piece than needed as the outside shell will/should tighten until it reached the end of the stranded guts, (which should not stretch). So if you do this you'll end up with X much shell only. Then just feel for where the strands ended, hold the cord a couple inches from the end of the inside strands and cut near the end and burn to prevent it from coming loose. Now you should have a thinner cord to work with but not have to worry about a "messy" shell. I hope I explained that right??? If I didn't explain well enough to understand pls let me know and I'll try to explain it better. The H.L. brand cord is not "Mil-Spec" so it's not near as strong in general and it does pull thinner without doing anything to it. If you have plenty of cord in hand in the colors you want just do the above, I am sure the result will be better than expected. I mentioned H.L. as they have a decent selection of colors in store, (more online, but that route I'd buy real cord). For a small dog, (20 lbs. or so), the H.L. cord I don't think will tighten thin enough for a collar to fit that small of a dog. It's more of a way to get different colors now (provided there's a store nearby). They sell it in different lengths from 25' to 100' $2.99-8.99 as well as 50' microcord $2.99. Get online and pull up their website for a 40% off coupon, only good for 1 item/day but go in get what you want, use the 40% off and send someone else in. At least you'd be able to say what color/pattern you want and know they have it in stock.. I would really like to know how well it turns out and the result, so if you do this and it works well pls let me know. If you don't mind I can give you my email and send me some pics or a short vid of the finished project. The only thing I can really suggest is to either start the collar or a bracelet just to see if you have removed enough strands to make the collar thin enough for the dog to be used for. I apologize for the poor explination the first reply, I was extremely tired from work. Good luck, I'm sure it'll turn out perfect and again I'd love to see the final result as well as just how many strands had to be removed to make the cord thin enough to fit correct.

it is probably not a pattern i would start out with unless you really like to challenge yourself. i would try something a bit less complicated first like this one. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYqznGxpoNB-lc0 and work your way up, but hey, you know yourself better than anyone!

Good morning. How would i do this with just 2 colors
@Peacedonkeys
@Peacedonkeys 4 жыл бұрын
g'day hardrocker, you would choose what colour you want for the diamond, and then make all the other strands a different colour to the diamond. all the best with it.

@@Peacedonkeys have another question. I dont have an adjustable clasp. I have a buckle. About 2 inches wide. How would i do this without doing skinny adjustable ends. Just want full diamond pattern all the way around
@Peacedonkeys
@Peacedonkeys 4 жыл бұрын
you would have to start at the buckle, and end at the opposite end, and weave or somehow tie off the ends and melt. it is very tricky, i haven't ever done it that way with so many strands. i have seen others do it on a belt , but on a dog collar with a dog rolling around on the ground, they might unravel? You will have to experiment.
