This drill blew my team's mind! They were having a hard time relating the diamond drills to their formation and this helped them piece it together. Thanks!

If you use a 433, you can create 6 diamonds. What you see in the video, there are 4 diamonds so if you have 2 wingers, you push up both FBs and have your CF on one side of the pitch and be the tip of the Diamond, LW on the left, CM on the right and LB at the bottom. You can do the same to the right side of the pitch. CF at the top, RW on the right, CM on the left, RB at the bottom.

Thanks for the video. I think this can be applied to any formation. I'm currently taking on new team and they were playing 433 but shipped a lot of goals last season, due to being overloaded in midfield after losing possession up front, so I'm aiming to reign it back to a basic 442 and solidify the midfield but looking for drills to encompass the shape and adjust when ball travels from side to side going forward. Get wide in possession and narrow when defending. This drill looks good to highlight this. Thanks

I live this and will install it today but I feel like it limits us to maybe less striking ability. My two best players are my striker up top and my center fullback who kinda plays that defensive fullback / attack midfield as we move up the field. Should she not be playing that high ever? It’s like I need her back on d just to control the middle but she also can score from anywhere around the box and she is left footed and she is very good at corners. So we have a solid team but my striker and her are just another level. Is it ok for her to leave that center back position and attack forward and as well take those corners and get back? She does have good stamina but I don’t want to wear her down too much. What’s happening now is my striker is just incredible on the ball but they are on to her and she gets swarmed by 3-4 drfenders and has to go wide and try to cross it back in. Thanks.

I start by letting the players find the patterns but step in if they don't discover options that I think are important like using the center mid to switch the point of attack.

How are the possesion players allowed to move when playing with defenders, are thet supposed to stay by the cone or are they allowed to move away?

Is there just one ball in play when you have the two diamonds in play? Or does each player on the right diamond have a ball and you just stagger the start? Hope that makes sense?
@kevinwilliams30385 жыл бұрын
He says to start with one ball and maybe add the second later to give complexity.

How do the defenders work? Surely if they just stand in the line of the pass it ruins the drill?
@ashtonbetts60418 жыл бұрын
Looking to do this for my session tomorrow. After you add the target forward, but before you add the pressure is there a specific pattern to the passing, or do you allow the players to move the ball around and just watch for/freeze to discuss the movements into passing lanes?
@akshaynair69266 жыл бұрын
I presume the latter since you want your players to understand off the ball positioning/movement first and then focus on finding passes when faced with an opponent. You can always focus on specific passing patterns once they get a hang of it.

We're playing a 2-3-1 for most of our 7v7 season. After watching the video a few times, I'm wondering on what the mod would be. Instead of those 2 cones between the 3 and 1, would I just use 1 or use those 2 cones and have the striker rotate between them?
@WORLDCLASSCOACHING7 жыл бұрын
I would suggest using two cones and having the striker move between them. I've done this with my U9's and it's gone well.

Thanks, that's what I was looking at doing just looking at the movements in the video. Thanks again for these series of videos.
