The only reason it was rattling is because they were using off brand wheels for all of their B&Ms this year. Other years, it's been smoother than Intimidator.

All B&Ms are cursed the second they are established on the grounds of King’s Island. King’s Islands B&Ms have always had a slight rattle. From day one for every single B&M, Diamondback, Banshee, Orion... they had a slight rattle. It’s likely that King’s Island has looser soil than other amusement parks, contributing to a slight vibration on every ride that should otherwise be perfectly smooth. Just a theory, though.

Kings Island is my home park. Diamondback is up there on my list of favorites. I have ridden it in the front and back. I prefer the back but it is neat to ride in the front row.

I rode diamondback at cedar point!!! Great air time. Specially on the ramps, did 360 inversions and a couple of loops and bunny hops. Like it better than mongoose. Wait, these are coaster bikes, right?

I like a good rattle in my B&Ms. It's kinda like having a rough ride on a wooden coaster, it just reminds me of what I'm doing and I can kinda appreciate it. Although I'd say Banshee would suffer from any more rattle than it has.

So, when you say "floater airtime" what exactly is that? Like do you come out of your seat and slam back down when you go back up? Or is it smooth like you rise up and go back down gently (not roughly slamming). I wanna ride this, heights dont bother me, its the roughness of how you could come out of your seat. Is it safe?

There is definitely a rattle coming down the first hill but I've never let it diminish my thoughts of the coaster itself, which is a very good one. Imo I still prefer both Banshee and The Beast over Diamondback but this is definitely a great addition to an incredible amusement park

Hm, I rode Diamondback last Thursday in the front of the yellow and brown train and it was perfectly smooth. It seemed especially fast and intense in the light rain, too. I guess the slight rattling depends on which train and which seat? And maybe the day? I used to work at Kings Island and everybody talked about how smooth Diamondback was. Also, earlier this summer I noticed a middle seat ride on one of the trains of Millennium Force was a little more rough than I remembered, but then the very back seat of the yellow train was smooth and amazing. So is it just totally random which seats have more of a rattle/ more roughness?

The rattle is actually because of the footers in the ground. It's not the track itself, but when the footers are not firmly placed in the ground, and the train goes through the track, that vibration is from the shaking of the footers going back up to the train, so that's what causes that rattle.

Shambhala actually doesn't have a splash down. It has a water spray feature as the train passes over a small water pool. It's similar to Manta at Seaworld Orlando in a way

Taylor I had to tell you this ride is fantastic Diamondback delivered the one-two punch that first drop was insane it was steep it was fast it was out of control and fun part was I wrote it in a downpour a very slight downpour but overall this ride was fantastic . I get Diamondback a big fat 10 highly recommended for anyone who loves very tall hyper coasters the best one in the world

I rode Diamondback this year in the very last row, and noticed a rattle. Maybe it was a bad train or a bad day that day, because usually when I ride it, it's glossy smooth. But when I did ride in the back row, I got whipped right over the first drop and it felt like I was going to come out of my seat. But I've only noticed the rattle in the back, not anywhere else,

This is the only B&M hyper that has a proper splashdown break. When I rode Shambhala, the splashdown is barely noticeable. It doesn't spray water out from the back of the train like Diamondback or a B&M dive coaster would, it just has little fountains at the side. Also, I was there for 3 days, and the fountains only worked for one of the days. Shambhala is an amazing ride (in fact, it's my favourite coaster) but I wouldn't say it has a proper splashdown.

The thing about B&M hypers is that the trains are so heavy, they almost seem to go slow over the airtime hills, which makes only floater airtime. On Intamin hypers (sorry to mention this) the trains go rapidly over airtime hills, creating ejector airtime, which most coaster enthusiasts prefer

+CoastersNGames It's not just the trains' weight, it's the shape of the hills as well. B&M's tend to have a distinct parabola shape for their airtime hills, while Intamin uses a mixture of pointy shaped hills and constant radii on their smaller hills. IMO they're both equally good in terms of experience.

Although the drop is a little underwhelming, the speed, smoothness, and air time are great. Never has too bad of a line even for it being the biggest ride at KI. Wish it had an inversion or two, but overall a pretty good ride in the middle and back for me.

This is the third best coaster at kings island. Floater air time isn't very intense. The beast with it's final helix and night rides is great, and banshee with it's insane inversions is even better. All three are close though.
