Thanks for the memories! Axle odometers, air starts, manual steering, Johnny arm, milk crates, realistic radios, lube finders, recaps. Diamond Rios, auto cars, B model Macks, White, then white freightliners. That diamond real was high cotton brother, air conditioning and an air ride seat was unheard of back then, whoever drove that truck was either smart or important or both!

You are killing me with the white 9000. i had one that was an old sanborn single axle, 250 cummins with a ten speed and manual steering. lengthened and doubled the frame, ralphs truck world tandems and put on a new 14 yard bibeau dirt body on it. cheap to buy and cheap to run. if you got a front wheel in a rut you didn't grab the steering wheel to stop the spin as it would hurt you. the radio was a project as it was positive ground. the electrical could be converted though. i put duct tape on the headlighs so it wouldn't see the hills coming. also had a couple of 68 mercury cougar xr7. in the end years latter it was a pete 379 425 hp cat ac with air ride and power steering. miss the road boss. great job with the channel.

Another great video Mike. I used to haul Lehigh cement for Mitchell transport out of Burnsville, Mn. in the early 70's. We had all White 4000's, 250 Cummins, 10 speeds. Had the tach and speedograph. Got 2 round discs with our bills and had to wind the clocks before we put them in. Had an impeller on the exhaust we would engage then rev up to the governor (2100) and pressurize the trailer. 45-60 minutes to unload, engine screaming. Good duty In 1974 they got a few 4000"s with 290 Cummins (turbo). That was a huge improvement. Seeing the 9000 brought back a lot of memories. Thanks much. Peace and grease. JM

Hey BostonTrucker...Old truck are (definitely) "b-a-d a*s" (can't say that on the CB?? 😉) That Diamond Reo takes me back to the early 1960's when I was a kid in the back seat of my Dad's Ford Falcon, and a truck on the Jersey Turnpike that pre-dates these "bad boys"...a Diamond T. Windows down on a hot summer day, I watched that big dark machine -- bouncin' and rattlin' with the "butterfly" hood flappin' -- pass us in the little sedan, the driver "goin' for all he was worth", fedora on his head, chompin' on a stogie, the rain cap pinned-back atop the short stack. My Dad "put his foot into it" to keep pace (for me), my Mom yells out (re: the trucker), "he's makin' time!" Yeah 👏👏...thanks for the bonus video!! 👍

That is some beautiful trucks I did the same thing My dad drive trucks did not have a passenger seat I put a lawn chair in it and I had put 5 gallon buckets to you talking about some kind of ride that was pretty rough but I did not care how it was I enjoyed it too much and me too I used to love the smell of the diesel smoke and the air when we were starting them up when I got big enough to push the clutch in I could barely see over the steering wheel but he had me drive it Best time of my life with my dad he is still with me thank God but he retired back in 1994 because he had a heart attack back in and he was owner operator one time doing pretty good back in when you could get Diesel fuel pretty cheap back Then be safe my friend

O-H-I-O Porter greetings.🇺🇸 My dad started driving in the 1930s & eventually owned a transfer & storage company. He bought many new & used trucks…IH, White, GMC,Federal, REO,Dodge, Kenworth & Ford. My favorite was the REOs. I have the last new one he bought in 1951. REO & Diamond REO trucks were quite nice looking. Most of the old trucks had lots of character. I’m glad that some of them are still around today. 🥰🤩✌️

O-H-I-O Porter greetings.🇺🇸 Just because you can say certain words on KZbin doesn’t mean you should though.Hmm. Yea, diamonds in the rough…or Iron Candy! That White is sharp, especially with the 5th wheel boom!🤩 I call those headlight covers “Louvers”. I had some on an old Ford cabover. They sure help the glare of the lights. That Diamond REO was making my heart skip a beat or two!🥰 It has the short hood & is a single axle as well. I love single axles!🥰 Powered by a 290 Cummins perhaps. It’s a good thing that you’re a good ways away from me. I would be all over one of those trucks anyway. So, it was an invitation to SNOOP? LOL! It was good that they plucked those away from where they were. I just hope that they plan on selling or repairing them. I liked your comment…You could play in those trucks for hours. I did that as a kid. My dad had a junkyard with cars & trucks both for a few years & I would play out there for hours. Brings back some FUN memories for sure!! Please do keep us posted! Hey, a quick topic for you…Do you spot a lot of trucks that have the extra detailing in the paint? I think they call it East Coast schemes or something like that. I’m talking about the extra pinstriping like your truck. Some trucks are so elaborate in the striping. You just don’t see that done much anymore. Good stuff! 🥰😎✌️
