This is what I don’t understand about some parents. They kick out their pregnant daughter. But how will that help them? I think the mentality is “tough love”, that if you’re adult enough to have sex and get pregnant, you’re adult enough to be on your own. I don’t agree with it, but it happens. Most parents become upset with teen pregnancy because they want their children to succeed in life and have opportunities that having a baby young would make more difficult. It seems counterintuitive to then kick them out and take away even more opportunities to thrive. Lessons can be taught in other ways and still get the point across.

I mean, realistically...she lives in a food storage closet at her job. She can’t keep a baby back there. If her parents give her a choice to come back and the shelter is still at capacity, she need to bite the bullet and go back home and just return to work when she can and continue to save money, seeking help from the state while she finishes school. Later in life when she is able to financially take care of her baby and herself, she can choose to exclude her parents.
