The song was written based on Marina Tsvetaeva’s poem “It’s night in my huge city...” (1916). In the poem, the lyrical heroine can’t sleep. She leaves the “sleepy house” and goes for a night walk. Tsvetaeva, who was prone to mysticism, believed that night was a borderline state between sleep and reality. Sleeping people are carried away to other worlds created by the imagination, and a person awake at night is immersed in a special state. Insomnia emphasizes the loneliness of the lyrical heroine. She is simultaneously in the illusory and real worlds, but sees no support or sympathy in either one. This is the second song based on Tsvetaeva’s poetry that Diana performs.
