I've not heard that she *can't* speak English but I've seen no signs she can beyond her English singing. I've watched this interview between an English speaking interviewer and her: kzbin.info/www/bejne/apSue2Cwj8ytm9E FYI, re her Can't Help Falling In Love. Elvis Presley's character in the movie Blue Hawaii ostensibly sings the song to the character's grand mother. Diana has recently said she is very close to her grandmother (in her recent Revelation FAQ) -- I imagine she means her adoptive mother's mother. And I think there's a direct connection between Can't Help Falling In Love and her Wicked Game performance in which she sings "I don't want to fall in love". This latter song was almost certainly about her biological mother, who had scared the bejeezus out of her by trying to re-enter her life just before her performance of Wicked Game, and was coming to her in nightmares, eventually leading Diana to want to drop out of the competition due to the effect it was having on her. In the song she talks about "only you can save me". The "you" in that case is the judges, the audience, those who support her, her adoptive family, most assuredly not her biological mother! One last thing for you to consider prior to reacting to Revelation, her new song, arguably the most important song she has ever performed to date, is that there's a reason why the sound in between the two verses in Revelation is like the sound made by judges pressing their button during the competition performances she was in when she was 14 (the one where she first publicly sang her version of Wicked Game). Telling you of this sound is arguably a spoiler, but it's always possible I'm imagining the connection, and no reactor or any commenter has talked of that connection, so I thought it would be fun to give you that little heads up. If I'm right, you would best react to at least that first Wicked Game, and preferably another performance from the same competition, namely the french song Dernier Danse aka Last Dance aka "The Joker Song", before reacting to Revelation. Revelation is the first song she has created herself in its entirety, a song that is ultimately a piece of art that she herself has noted she doesn't fully understand, but which I think was her soul's attempt to tie together all the threads of her life story up to this point, with her competition performances being central to that, as well as meeting Igor Krutoy there as one of the producers of the show and one of the judges.

All the performances were sung I believe in a 9 week span. Diana's confidence did grow throughout this talent show in the respect of performing different genres, performing with dancers. All of this in a very short turn around from episode to episode. Her peers were very generous with kind words yet honest at the same time. You could see the growth from week to the next week.

Greetings from Scotland! Is Diana a true polyphonic singer? Most definitely! If you run her songs through spectral analysis software you'll actually see several voices! It's not something she trained to do, she has always had it naturally. If you listen to "Темная ночь" you can clearly hear Diana sing using "sonorant consonants" which give a very smooth transition between notes. A natural dramatic contralto with immense vocal power, polyphonic overtones and uses sonorant consonants ALL naturally, is it any wonder this young lady has the worlds most unique voice? 😊 That very deep vocal you hear between Diana singing was a backing singer, a guy called Vlad. Yes she does know some English but I don't believe she is fluent - YET! (Her English is way better than my Russian though!). If you listen to some of her interviews or Q&A sessions you can hear she has a perfectly normal teenage speaking voice. I've heard her speak to an audience member in English at a concert when he gave her some flowers and she sounds really cute speaking spontaneous English! I don't know what the guy said but she replied "Awww, Thank you very much!" quite naturally back to him.

And then the winner was determined by the result. Diana was also a winner in this show. There were 9 laps of the show in total. Just to clarify a couple of things, "Can' Help Falling In Love", "Personal Jesus" and this "Crow" were all filmed within weeks of each other for the same show "ShowMaskGoOn" (there are six other performances as the the show ran for 9 weeks). The low voice you commented on was actually a backing singer, not Diana herself. Diana can speak a little English, but, isn't fluent. Therefore, the rivers no longer flow, and the only sounds are the "singing" of volcanoes. The world is at the very edge. One more step, and that's it, complete and hopeless emptiness. Only the performer sees herself as "White Crow". She goes against the crowd frozen in place, looking for her own way in life. Nobody can stop her, nobody. Nothing can scare her, including the pressure of society. The White Crow has its own way, it is not devoid of struggle, but it is beautiful, it realizes its peculiarity and accepts it! On the end of the performance black crows cover Diana with black cloth but in her eyes you can see strength......
