Yes indeed. She was amazing. I just decided to look her up and found this clip. When I was 6, I lived in England for a year. My dad was in the RCAF and stationed there. I had this real crush on Diana Dors. I think I had good taste. 😅

Diana Dors never played a "dumb blonde", that image was foisted on her by her manager/husband, who bankrupted her before he died of advanced stage syphilis. She was actually a professionally trained actress; look at her stage performances which aired on BBC later in life. Her early films emphasized her looks; not her acting. SIDEBAR: While in the states, she had an affair with Rod Stieger during a film they were in; Diana Dors was said to be very frank with men and if she liked them they had a relationship, she turned Bob Hope down many times, she said she was not interested.

@@capitanfuturo594 What are you talking about. I NEVER wrote that she DID NOT die of ovarian cancer. Read my INFORMATIVE comment again. Here is an excerpt, I wrote: " Diana Dors never played a "dumb blonde", that image was foisted on her by her MANAGER/HUSBAND, who bankrupted her before HE died of advanced stage syphilis".

Even though she had to unfortunately play the dump blonde it was quite clear she was no such thing even in this scenario...she wasn't all kittish (like Marylin & Mansfield) she was clear & precise & completely on it!! Wasn't she wonderful?!!

I like both, but they were very different. Marilyn cultivated the dumb blonde persona as a character, far removed from her own personality. She was extremely Intelligent and if you have any doubts on her acting, see Bus Stop, Niagara, Don't Bother to Knock, but like Diana, she was also given material beneath her talents, they didn't get much of a say in it back then. Diana was however, better disciplined as a person and stronger emotionally, what a great movie Yield To The Night is, wonderful

DD was terrific in Y to the N. Arguably her best dramatic role. Too bad they keep removing it from YT every time someone uploads it.

Marilyn was extremely talented, brilliant, only too much unsure about her qualities, unfortunately, so that she had to stick on the sexy side of her personality. Diana Dors looks like she, first of all, was smart 'in life' They cannot be compared.

The writing on this is impeccable! So witty and clever! Diana held her own with bob! It’s really a great back and forth. She deserved to a few better films. You can tell she has so much personality and comic timing. Bob and his writers though never let down with good little quips and zingers

This was during her (ultmately failed) attempt to establish a film career in Hollywood (with the help of two appallingly bad movies) and the "swimming pool" incident Bob was referrring to at the start was the public relations disaster of her manager-husband's bad behaviour during a pool party Diana arranged for the press and people fell or were pushed into the pool. This certainly didn't help Diana attempts to woo the American press at all.

While Marilyn was deep and closed off Diana was the exact opposite. She wore her heart on her sleeve. She didn't shy away from her past. She was a British gal who loved rough men. Marilyn was having crazy parties behind closed doors but Diana was very upfront about hers. She was also quick witted. She had a modern face. By modern standards she was very meek. Scarlett Johansson doing it in a hotel elevator is all the rage now. It was her husbands who couldn't keep up with her glamorous life. Unlike Catherine zeta Jones Diana didn't marry Hollywood men to get her career going. She loved her crooks just like Katie price. She never changed to appease the American audience.

She has that Marilyn Monroe look, but so much more intelligent sounding. I adore her. I've never seen the Marilyn attraction, she always sounded so corny, fake and dumb, and never could act very well. Diana is so much more attractive imo.

Surely Diana Dors was more sensational and smart without the huge personal problems Marilyn suffered, so she was far more free to be herself without any fear to be inadequate or ridiculed. But toward the end of her life she became more and more distasteful to me. Maybe she was that way from the beginning, I don't know, but I didn't appreciate her anymore
