above average looks with sun glasses on. above average piano playing. average at best vocals... one heckuva career considering. Barely acknowledges there’s an audience. She’s got the formula down.

DK is about as exciting as watching paint dry. Route 66 --this is the equivalent of driving at breakneck speed rarely stopping to enjoy the view.

@@ozbluesman i just watched it again. She attempts to be cool but it comes across as soul-less.

I was scrolling thru the Rt.66 TV theme song music from the 60s TV show and came upon this gem by Dianna Krall. Great rendition of this classic!

@johnredberg Жыл бұрын
@@Peter-ff1tp Are you suggesting that this TV production was filmed on Super 35 film? Because LOTR was. One thing has nothing to do with the other. This was recorded with (probably digital, by that point) HD video cameras or camcorders. People forget these days that even analog high definition video has been around since the mid '80s. the drum solo takes away from the performance. it didn't even get an applause.
@2utheo7 жыл бұрын
I really question whether you know what you're saying here on 2 levels. I believe that was Joe Farnsworth, a highly respected jazz musician. If you're a musician &/or a drummer and are qualified to hold this opinion, that's fine but imho, the drum solo (and I am a drummer) was fine---he played the form of the tune, has a lot of chops and if, in fact, the audience didn't applaud loud enough for you---so what? That is not and never has been the yardstick by which a musician's performance should be judged. On the second level, how would you know if the audio was taken directly off the board (likely) and not from a mic that would pick up audience response anyway? The second point really doesn't matter, however, but it might to you.

These were all younger accompanying musicians? How do they get to back up an icon like Ms. Krall? Tryouts? Applications depending on venue, event, tour? Are their short-list of qualified and highly regarded players or an elite list? Usually, Diana has a very seasoned array of players in her orchestra......these young guys, how did they get on this stage?
