Both Charles and Diana were very unrealistic. I only wish that Mr. Andrew Parker-Bowles and his Mrs. had been assigned an overseas post (I am sure that Prince Philip could have arranged it) to get her away from Diana and Charles early in the marriage. Charles met Camilla in the early seventies and through out the years after the she got married, they were still weaving in and out of each other’s life. Camilla moved on, it was Charles who refused to let go of Camilla, if he so loved her, he should have given up his status as a prince and married her but no. He wanted to be king, used Diana to have children and went straight back to Camilla. Charles had no right to have agreed to any marriage to anyone if he still carried a torch for Camilla all these years. If he hadn’t ended up with Diana, he would have still married any other woman and expect her to put up with Camilla. After all he told Diana that he will not be the only prince of Wales who will not have a mistress. Camilla was non negotiable. Charles and Camilla are extremely selfish people. She may have been a loose cannon; but Charles was setting her off frequently because he would not even try to understand where her head was at. *I have always felt very sorry for Diana, Princess of Wales.* *I can understand why she was so lonely and needy* (i.e. her very dysfunctional childhood) I can also understand why a "normal person", someone like Hasnat Khan would not want to stay in a relationship with someone who generated a media circus wherever she went. Two years, (1995-1997) would have seemed like an eternity for a person who had heavy responsibilities at work concerning other peoples' lives. (And who was not the father of her children. Being a step-parent, is another bag of worms/pandora's box) Sadly, given Diana's personality; I am afraid that she would eventually attract the wrong kind of person and become like one of those socialites along the lines of Barbara Hutton (Woolworth heiress) or Doris Duke (whose father was the tobacco and hydroelectric power tycoon James Buchanan Duke) Or for that matter, someone who led a vacuous life like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

I do have a hard time with the portrayal of Charles and Camilla as victims. Charles is a victim of an institution he upholds. Camilla is a victim of Charles. Diana was no saint, but you don't lure someone into a trap, have them get caught, try the conventional ways of getting out just to realize you have to be unconvetional about it and pursue the unconventional then blame them for the unconventional way they got out of it. She was raised in emotional abuse and neglect. It wouldn't have mattered who she married. The scars inflicted in childhood would have made it nearly impossible for her to have a normal, healthy marriage at 19. Charles had similar scars. Together it was close to impossible for their marriage to succeed, at least not without a lot of work. Maybe if they'd stuck it out they'd have learned how to overcome the baggage they brought into their marriage. I feel like Diana and Charles had the same issues. Too many of them. They couldn’t even it out. But if there was no Camilla, and they had actually really really tried and stick together with no affairs, it may have worked. I would have given anything to see her be crowned queen beside him a few years ago, she’s the best queen England never had and the true Queen.
