Thank you a lot for the video ! I'm completly new in the knitting machine world, just got my hand on an old knitting machine that need some cleaning, care and love, and I had no idea about where or on what mount it to be able to use it. I found this model of tilt stand everywhere on internet with no idea how to use it. Thank you for your help ! This knitting machine stuff is quite intimidating for me for now, and I have to take it little by little (while working 100% in industry...) Doing my best !

Well, I hope everyone subscribes, because there is a new video at least every month! My blog has lots of free patterns, lessons, essays, and links. My sales site now has a huge array of items, and all the pattern books have technique DVDs so people can actually make the items successfully. I did two live virtual seminars this summer and am planning another for early springtime.

As a two week newby to the knitting machine world, I am very grateful for your informative, well paced, no fluff videos. I am in a western suburb of Chicago, noted you mentioned Ronnie was in Chicago area. I think it would be awesome to find a knitting machine group that meets in person now and again. Sooo much to learn :)

Dear Diana, thank you very much for your video. I have an older stand ( not a tilt stand, just a stand) for ages, but I have not used it i long time. Now, when I moved to a smaller place I realized that I need a petit stand and I pulled my older stand. I never used this security clamps you mentioned, but I i am definitely going to try them. Thank you very much for your videos and time.

Thank you so much. I got one but did not know how to get my machine on.I actually thought these thigs that hold the lokk/tray were supposed to hold my machine..😂 And that obviously does not make sense. The only thing i knew was that it was a stand for the knitting machine, no picture or information how to use it. You answered so many questions.

I got an SK840 a few weeks ago along with the stand and various accessories. I have been absolutely struggling with the ribber. It wasn’t until this moment that I even knew that my stand could be in different positions. I’ve been using the ribber with the machine tilted forward this entire time. I can’t wait to give it a go tomorrow and see if having the stand flat makes a difference. Thank you!

I predict that this is going to make a huge difference! You want both beds slanted in relation to the floor, and the stitches won't knit off properly if the angles are bad. Good luck - I'll be thinking about you as I knit today!

I use my racking lever as my screw driver. :) I also hated my tilt stand, so I had a welder make me a solid bar that was Wider, and moved the legs out of the way of the clamps. It also has sturdy long screws sticking out of the bar that hold up the machine when setting up. Because I rarely have a human in the house to help me out. Been one of my favorite additions to my knitting room.

1-11-11 Just heardd from Norman Korshak at Newtons Knits who says he has a few tilt stands left. It sounds like if you want a new tilt stand, you'll need to order soon, and after that, it'll be necessary to hunt down a use one.

I heard from the Knit Knack Shop just now, 1/11. Same story, the tilt stand vendor is gone. They have some for sale until they run out.

I already heard from one of the dealers I asked about availability of tilt stands - Cindy Schmatz of Cindy's Knitting Room. As of this morning,1/11/21, here's what she said: The dealer that was manufacturing them is no longer in business and are not going to continue to make them. I personally have one that's not in a box but never been used $199.00 One new in the box $229.00. That's the end of the tilt stands Cindy

Thank you so much for your videos - they've been so helpfu, lovely and your voice is so calming. If I do garter bar work, would the tilt (the main bed is now flat) allow me to lay the knitting over the top of the covered ribber so that I can more easily pull stitches off onto the garter bar and then pick it up and turn it around as easily as if there were no ribber? I guess what I'm asking is if I did this, would the stitch quality be compromised by which side of the ribber the knitting is hanging on?
@dianaknits
@dianaknits 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! I often do pull the knitting in front of the ribber (with the ribber covered). It won't hurt it unless you snag it, and the covers help with that. With the stand tilted, the ribber is hanging straight down. I really don't like to use my garter bar on a tilted machine, because gravity pulls the knitting back behing the latches. When it's flat and the fabric is weighted, the work behaves as I work with the garter bar. The garter bar is much, much easier to use on a flat machine.

Hi! Thank you so much for this video: I just want to know if these stands hold all brands of knitting machines and ribbers? I have a silver reed SK840 electric knitting machine. Thank you!
@dianaknits
@dianaknits 2 жыл бұрын
There is more than one size. Yours, which I believe is standard gauge, will probably fit on almost any of them, but you need the longer kind if you have a bulky machine.

Does it feel sturdy to use on a stand as apposed to a table? It looks quite flimsy as it has no support other than the clamps. I’d be scared being too heavy handed and bending the bed.
@dianaknits
@dianaknits 4 жыл бұрын
These are very, very sturdy and I prefer them for my heavier machines. Of course, if you have a tank of a table, that would be fine, too.

I do not have a source for a manual for an 801. I have not actually seen one of those. It must be a quite old machine. I do not think you need the latest machine, but I confess I am a person with very little patience for older machines, say pre-punch card machines.

I happened to get my hands on a Keto (?) cabinet that was made for these machines back in the 70's. I have no idea how to set it up though. Do you have one?

Hi Diana I have a SRP-50 which I don't know what it is I think is a knitting machine ribber but I don't know can you please tell what it is I have for a long time and its new I have never used it as well as my knitting machine I don't know if you remember me this Raquel from Puerto Rico we use to communicate a lot but lost touch i have never master any of them machines its been hard for me to learn so I may be selling them and I just stick to doing jewelry well hope you are doing well so please answer as soon as you can i would appreciated very much
@dianaknits
@dianaknits 4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Raquel, an SRP50 is a ribber, I believe. I am not familiar with that particular unit and have not owned one of them. This is a good time to sell knitting machines, which are getting good prices, but you will need to pack them very, very well. It is very difficult to pack them well enough at home to ship them safely. One option to do it is to have Fed Ex or UPS do the packaging and take responsibility for the safe shipment. You will have to charge your buyer for that but it is definitely worth it to have this old ribber arrive in good shape. Also please note that sets do better financially than ribbers all alone.

@@dianaknits The phrase was really nice German, just the uncommon word "Maschinenstrickhändler" was in the wrong order. Proper German would be "Strickmaschinenhändler". That's why I thought you mixed up the word a little and I find it interesting that Google seems to do that :-)

German is so very difficult to learn, at least according to my husband, who spent months working through a Pimsleur course before we visited Germany. He had also studied German in school. When we got to Germany, he felt that he couldn't speak or understand very much at all.
