It's economics surely? If young people could easily buy a reasonable home and enjoy a good quality of life with their wages and old people could pay their bills and have access to good and reliable health care then surely people wouldn't be as bothered about immigration?

@@Prime-o8f What about future quality of life ? Our cities are overflowing, our towns are growing, we are losing more and more land to infrastructure. We don't have enough teachers, schools, doctors, hospitals, etc., etc. This is a small island and we will run out of space if illegal immigrants come at the same rate for the next 20 years. What is to stop them? All of us will suffer, not only because the majority of them are not professionals, but our culture will suffer because they have such a completely different one. There is no way that the things you describe can happen if the situation carries on the way it is.
@davidneverdave
@davidneverdave 10 күн бұрын
@@Prime-o8fthe main issue about immigration is about integration. People want to be able to have a conversation with their neighbours in English, go to the pub after work with their colleagues, not see their high streets turned into halal butchers, Turkish barbers, sari shops etc. Importing vast numbers of people from totally different cultures to ours is a recipe for disaster.

The Labour Party hasn’t been the party of the British working class for decades. The majority of its donors are the richest 1% of society & are based offshore & pay no tax in the UK. The PM will do exactly what they say. With the budget, they have impoverished the working class as businesses will just add the cost of these business taxes on to goods & services or fire workers. This will lead to higher inflation, higher unemployment & low productivity. Reed, a leading recruiter, has warned that many UK businesses are sending jobs to India and the jobs market in the UK has dried up.

Starmer is an omnishambles but thank god the conversation was wider than the usual pile on - he will make or break in next 6mths, probably break if there's a recession caused by continuing higher interest rates. It is sadly too late for the UK as the running costs are financed by unsustainable tax rises and public debt. Smart employable Brits will gravitate to higher opportunity economies and tax havens. Those left will get whatever they're given.

I think, Diannne, the problem is that a growing chunk of voters have already walked away. Within my own close circle, of a couple of dozen…..only 2 regularly watch or listen to main stream news broadcasts. About 8 never engage with the news at all. None read a newspaper. Thus they are prime for snippet news ‘shorts’. The slimmest majority do vote, but tribally, and pre any election they would not have sought out a party manifesto, and the last time, against the conservatives father than for any other party. This is no longer the party support system of Dianne and my youth, but I think both major parties are kidding themselves it is.

Diane Abbott for decades... "Wanting in any way to reduce immigration numbers from 1.2 million means you are anti immigrant" - utter drivel .... And posing as an expert on Trump's vision or politucal philosophy in general is utterly ludicrous when she doesn't even begin to understand either... The large black lady who used to be on Gogglebox understood thibgs far better

Tim got it spot on from 5 minutes in… we need a reset but also we need him to show that he can do the challenges and turn this country around… he’s also spot on in reform. Reform is coming… but i was shocked by Diane’s response to Tim. She decided not to listen! The left and centre left need to listen truly to peoples feelings right now and make a new case (and get better on comms via social media & tv)

Can you imagine a worse mess than England run by the English. Who do you consider to be English nowadays, anyway? $th and 5th generation immigrant communities? Do they count as English if they're not the same colour as you? I expect that, for someone with your beliefs, probably not.

I will never vote Reform. The NHS and other public services will die, Sadly, the poor will then suffer. You need to look at the USA, where people become bankrupt or lose their homes to pay for medical treatment. It is simply cruel that someone will vote for a party which will only support the wealthy. The USA is a country of landlords. The less wealthy will never be able to buy their own home. They will be saddled with debt their entire lives.

The issue's we the public have are that we are sick and tired of the same rubbish from elite career politicians from ALL the political parties! We are sick of taxpayer money wastage, corruption, lies, broken promises, our rights being stripped away, the woke ideology, being punished for working (especially single living), failing services (due to mismanagement, wokeness and laziness), paying taxes with nothing to show for it and the fact that the cost of living is out of control to the point people are no longer able to survive, never mind live!
@StephenSmith-ge1qf
@StephenSmith-ge1qf 14 күн бұрын
All of the above problems are due to years and years of increasing inequality. Privatisations, tax loopholes for those who can afford them, lack of fairness in taxation where the richest pay the least, "private-public partnerships" where you pay taxes to an offshore consortium for the right to use the hospital building, lack of investment outside London, etc. All the result of conservative policies ever since 1979. Starter and his bunch won't solve this, and Reform will make it much worse but give you a nice dose of racism to make you feel better.

They are just talking their political speak, but actually saying nothing meaningful or productive that would help the population of this country. I voted Reform but I'm not particularly enamoured to see these ex Tories joining, it feels like they are watering down the Reform party. We need BIG change in this country not just piddling about at the periphery.

Diane sat and listened politely for some time, but she couldn't help herself and rudely interrupted Tim several times. She has yet to explain how she decided on private education for her son, despite all her previous opposition to it. I'm sure she can rationalise it, but to me it is the peak of hypocracy and removes her from all future discussion.

not really. it's a good thing for black boys to have that opportunity considering the deprivation that exists in poor areas. moving people from environments that may lead to abuse from others boys or being victims of crime is a good idea. she made the right decision. it's okay to have spent your life arguing for one thing and to then realise, actually, this isn't the right thing for my son. it's mnot hypocrisy, it's growth. i have no idea why people believe you're not allowed to change your view. 'removes her from all future discussion' haha pss off. what a child.
