Believe it or not but sociopaths and psychopaths love to hear themselves speak. Especially if they've killed. Its part of their being. A lot like when killers take something from the victim. Like a trophy. Her retelling the story knowing she was the one who actually did it Is all part of being a killer. You can tell when she talks about "the first thing i did was snap back to my childhood" making it about her. Count how many times she's said "I" in that scene. She makes it all about her. She almost seems like she has Munchhausen by proxy. A disease where parents hurt their children on purpose to gain sympathy from others.

For me the most disturbing words from her are when she was told that she was lucky and she answered that she wasn't lucky and that her arm hurt for like a month and it was hard to tie her laces, instead of saying "no I'm not lucky cause I lost a child and my two other kids are seriously injured." And then had the audacity to say that her kids were the lucky ones. Oh yes cause being seriously injured, bleeding from the mouth and dying is so much better then getting shot in an arm and having problem tying shoe laces. I can’t even describe my father’s dying moments without feeling sick, crying hysterically. And he passed away peacefully at home from cancer. She is describing in details something that would traumatize me so bad I’d probably have amnesia. No emotion whatsoever. It’s incredible.
@dqverify67972 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry for your loss.
@toniroberts81172 жыл бұрын
@@dqverify6797 thank you. I remember reading about how Diane was upset at the blood in her “new” car. Just unbelievable. Like I said, even with my father passing, from cancer at home, I inherited his car. A brand new Tesla. I was only able to sell it a couple weeks ago, after it sat in my garage for 2 in a half years not driven. Normal people don’t think about material crap when you lose someone you love. If my kids died in a particular car like that, the last thing anyone normal thinks about is ever being in that car again. I realize sociopaths can exist without being murderers, but I still think she did it and was only able to cope with it by being a sociopath. Someone that is incapable of really loving another person. Someone who lacks empathy or the ability to put themselves in another person’s perspective. Perhaps I’m confusing the term sociopath with narcissist. I’m not a psychology major. The way she described in detail of her little girl cheryle. Dying miserable spitting up blood reaching out for help. Omg. And then she smiled. I just don’t get it at all. I find it interesting too how she felt like she wanted to replace her dead kids with more. That’s how kids think. I remember as a kid when my pet goldfish died the first thought that came to my mind was “I need to replace it”…. But after I had time to mourn I didn’t get a new fish. But these are children. Not a 10 cent goldfish. I don’t know. I jus don’t understand her.

@markmike79332 жыл бұрын
Peacefully from cancer is unusual. I hope he didn't suffer too much along the way. For you to feel the way you do, he must have been a great dad. My pop died when I was 14 and he was a great guy. And it affected the rest of my life. I'm 54. Perhaps that was a weakness on my part..I dunno...but DEATH IS HARD TO DEAL WITH. It's hard to comprehend. We can't really understand fully how someone we are talking to one day can NEVER be talked to again the next day. Now imagine if it's a kid. And she doesn't seem to care at all. That's TERRIFYING. Again, sorry for your father's passing.
@toniroberts81172 жыл бұрын
@@markmike7933 thank you. Yes my dad was a great man. The best person I’ve ever known, and was my best friend. He fought cancer hard for years but it eventually took him. I say he died peacefully just because his last couple days he didn’t seem in pain (hospice and it’s services are great). I’ve been a CNA most my life in the hospital and nursing home. I’ve seen many die and I do think he went relatively peacefully. He got an ugly face when I was praying aloud for god to take him and protect him (dado wasn’t religious at all lol). It is hard also to lose a parent as a child. I’m sorry for your loss. My mother died from pneumonia when I was just 11 years old. My mom was the only person my dad was ever with. He never dated after her and I’m 43 years old and he died 3 years ago, mom died in 1990. Death is very hard. And yes, the way Diane deals with death is just beyond anything I’ve ever seen. It’s absolutely NO FUN suffering from depression of loosing someone you love more than anything. More than yourself or life. But her reaction to her children’s violent horrible death is just weird. After loosing my mom as a child, and my pets (I had the coolest dogs ever) I was actually too scared to have kids in fear they could die, and I wouldn’t be able to function after. Perhaps Diane is super woman strong, but I don’t think so. I think it’s that condition called “narcissism”. They are incapable of empathy or seeing situations in other people’s point of view. Her kids purpose to her was to make HER life better. It was never about her kids. Just sad. And scary.

Psychopaths are narcissists' cousins, but completely without emotions. No hate, no love, no fear, no empathy. Nothing at all. Although, I did not vote for Trump, this is the one thing I give him approval for and that is not starting a war.

The most telling statement she made (there's MANY to choose from) is when she said "I wouldn't change it if I could. I always take back roads (and I always will)". What person, let alone mother, wouldn't replay that moment over and over in their minds and want, with every fiber of their being, to have a "do-over" of those moments?! There's FAR more minor things in my parenting and my life that I would do ANYTHING to take back! And my children are alive, well and unharmed!!!

I accidentally got the skin when I had to trim my oldest child's nails when he was only 3 days old. It's 12 years later and I still feel sick, and sometimes even cry, when I remember that. I'd give anything to take back causing him that pain and I felt so bad about it I made my husband take over on nail clipping for our children after that. I feel like a terrible mother for that incident, and it wasn't even intentional. I can't imagine saying I'd never take back an event that caused harm to my kids. Diane is a true psychopath.

@O R Anne Bradley did conduct the Downs interview before she was arrested. Bradley (as she was called then) was one of the best-known journalists in Eugene at that time, and though Downs actually clamored for the attention of the press, Bradley held back. This annoyed Downs, and practically guaranteed that her comments would gush out when the time came. Though Bradley could have released the tape after it was made, Bradley feared that it might taint the jury pool for the county. Therefore, she didn’t share it until after Downs was convicted and sentenced. Ann Rule had access to the tape, and to Bradley’s impressions, while writing Small Sacrifices.

Lau Ra Yeah. It used to be online years ago but it’s not up any more. It was just an hour of her talking in circles about absolute nonsense. At one part, she said that everything happened so fast in about 5-10 seconds. Then she said that it was like watching a movie in slow motion and all of these multiple thoughts ran through her head. Her abuse from her ex-husband, abuse by her father, her entrapment by society, etc. Then the next thing she said was how the gun just fired, and fired and fired.

@@meowllison9414 Anne Bradley Jaeger was quoted saying those things to Ann Rule while Ann wrote Small Sacrifices. Anne interviewed Downs for two hours before Downs’ arrest in 1984. The tape itself was so revealing that if released, it would have compromised the county’s ability to seat a jury. So Anne blunted the sharp edge of her journalistic scoop and saved the tape “for later,” making it (and her own impressions) available to Ann while she worked on her book. Ann scrupulously notes, in Small Sacrifices, which quotes and comments come from Anne and Diane.
