Hey, maybe I have some Danish in me! I love licorice! I love that sampler that your husband made as a child. My oldest son learned to crochet, from my mother, when he was 8 years old. He was really good at it. He even made Christmas stockings. Your needlework is excellent, also. You never can have too many hearts! AMEN! I always enjoy seeing your traditional things! 🙂🎅🤶

Dearest Diane, Your love of Christmas "doings, remembrances and decorating" inspired me to find what Christmas decorations and collections I have left. I have miniamlized each year with not much left. Truly , your inspiration, helped me with putting on beautiful Christmas music, to set the mood, as I scrounged up all I had saved. It wasn't much..... a small Christmas tree, a porcelain nativity scene , and Christmas linens .......BUT, they brightened my humble home in remembrance of our dear Savior. Thank you, precious Lady Diane.

I love how you are constantly decluttering so that things don't get out of hand. Once I get to where I wish to be with the big decluttering, I will have to remember to declutter different zones on a regular basis. A little bit at a time makes everything much easier. All the best of the season ♥

My husband is Norwegian, I'm from the U.S., and while we live in the states for now, over the years, I've incorporated some of his traditions into our holidays, and I'm continuing to learn more each year. I really enjoyed this video, as Denmark and Norway share some similar traditions as well as having some differences. I also really enjoy seeing different areas of your home, in your various videos, because it reminds me of my in-laws' home, and that warms my heart. I discovered flylady through you, and I'm just learning more about that now, but I hope it helps me make my home hygge, too. You're a delight. :-)

As you declutter things like cookie cutters, do you check with your kids to see if they will want them for their homes when they’re older? I have a couple things like that from my childhood that I cherish. My mom thought they were nothing special but they bring back memories every time I use them.

You have tons of stuff. I used to buy vintage things...and then I realized that I had lots of things that I hardly used /displayed them (only on Christmas and holidays). Getting rid of 95% of my stuff it was sad and it was the best for me. I hope you can share some of your stuff with your family members and friends. All the best.🥰

The hearts at Christmas represent love to the world? Do you use the hearts again at Valentine's, or is it not much of a holiday? I hang the old, nostalgic cookie cutters on the tree with a ribbon. It was fun, thank you for allowing us into your home 💙

Have the tree in a tub in the garage, checked on phone and boxwood wreath is in transit [does not grow in this area) Crisp Christmas tea towels are clipped to a tension rod and are curtains for the kitchen sink window. Purchased the mint sauce and mince meat, cane sugar for Christmas dinner. Packing for the trip tomorrow. Will run car through the car wash and vacuum out the pine needles from transporting the tree. We have The Tomten advent calendars. Thank you for your encouragement!

I have a probably silly question. The 24th is when you celebrate Christmas, in the states it is the 25th. Santa makes his trip around the world delivering gifts on Christmas Eve, does he visit houses on the 23rd in Denmark, and then you open presents on the 24th? Just curious. We celebrate on Christmas Eve and then Santa comes and surprises the kids with presents they open on the 25th in the morning.
@DianeinDenmark
@DianeinDenmark 4 жыл бұрын
When my kids were small, Santa would land on the roof and deliver the presents on the 24th. The Danes eat dinner at around 5-6pm on ChristmasEve, then open the presents after we sing and dance holding hands around the Christmas tree. I have a detailed video here on how we spend Little Christmas Eve, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 👋😃🎄 kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYqqfaWAgdB8Y5o

@dirgniflesuoh7950
@dirgniflesuoh7950 4 жыл бұрын
Diane in Denmark I did, it was nice tea, and I shared it with my son. The curtains are a "non cluttery way" to decorate for Christmas, and I get he usual kitchen curtains down and washed, so that they are clean when they get back in January. I sew them years ago and they are satisfyingly colorful, and a little silly with pigs, and snow and small tomtar/nisser.
